I leave the position indicator visible just until I've set my cyclic to takeoff/hover position; then I shut it off.

I think it's the case that the server does not need modules installed. The client, or player, needs the relevant module. The server admin would create a mission, place aircraft as "client" and just start the server. I've really simplified here....I'm sure there's a lot more. Short story, the server does not need modules purchased and installed.

No one's forcing you to play Eve Online. :music_whistling:

Send money to mirknir

It's me, no doubt. Twice I flew to rescue pilots and had to say "see ya!" My hovering sucks and I've got zero experience at hovering pickups.

I have you totally out-noobed. As evidence I present my crash on takeoff when we originally started out. I was trying to hot-dog it.

Flew with SpecialK yesterday to Sachere Supply Base and laid waste to it. First time I've ever flown "with" someone. I need to do it some more. The supply base was kind of challenging for me; the area is not wide-open and maneuvering within the canyon is a learning experience. Pro-tip...turn off your nav lights when entering the CZ. Also turn off your landing light. I was able to keep track of my sortie companion by the large patch of illumination on the ground just under his helo. Later, went on an enemy pilot/commando rescue at night. I was pleased to successfully find the extraction point, land in the dark, and return the prisoner to an airfield. Also, make sure your UHF radio is on. Radar can cause a hiss in the channel when your in its path.

Neither....Ralfi repeatedly shot up Hummel

That's not the first time. I saw a notice exactly like that yesterday evening.

Put some guns and rockets on it and shoot stuff.

Eventually, I removed and re-installed the Huey module. Seems to be working now. What was really weird is that it stopped working during a flight on the server. I'm not blaming the server.....just can't suss how its function could change mid-flight.

I was flying around yesterday and BLOOEY! I couldn't use force trim in the Huey anymore. It simply disappeared during the flight. Not even the keyboard combo would work. I remember one weird moment where it looked like a hill in front of me was "transparent", and I thought I might have actually flown through it. Is that weird? Has anyone here ever had the force trim simply quit? BTW...it works in Open Beta and Open Alpha. Will not work at all anymore in 1.5.4 stable.

Oh. The description in the Transport System menu says under Main Delivery Drop-Off: [HOS] Field Hospital -- Needs 4 items/personnels. This did not look like the rescue menu. "Medical Center" might not be the correct name for what I was referring to. My apologies.

According to Gigabyte it will support 16GB. http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3833#sp

The "-report" thingy is a habit I must develop. Flying out of Lochini last night, I headed to the Medical center out west of town with repair parts and personnel. Before the updates, I would not see any smoke or other indication of a destination. I usually land in a clearing on the south side of the town. This time when I arrived, there was green smoke. When I landed and chose to "deliver cargo", I got a message saying "you are not too close to the drop zone". I thought maybe it was just a typo and scooted the helo over closer to the smoke. Tried again, got even closer, and got the same result. Got even closer; same result. According to the mission list, I was at 0km from the mission focus. "Drop cargo" actually did something. I'll try and duplicate it today and get a report logged for you.

So I load up two medical personnel and a crate of repair parts and depart Lochini for a medical base out west of town. Almost as soon as I entered the CZ, I get the "enemy fighter in vicinity" warning. I take the Huey down to treetop level (literally) and scoot along, hoping to be low and slow enough. My head is on a swivel now and just as I'm about to turn my head forward I hear a "WHOOSH!" and turn to see a smoke trail just under the helo. I don't even know if it came from astern or forward. Seconds later, "oh, he's in front of me"; I know 'cause I can see the missile this time. I waited a second, then jinked to the left, leaving the missile to blow by the canopy by about a meter or so. Right on its tail was the enemy fighter, who blasted on past me. This is a wide open plain with zero cover. No ravines, valleys, or gulleys. The best I could hope for was to turn and head back to the village I had just overflown, set down among some buildings, and wait for him to leave or get chased off. Sadly, I realized I was much too far from the town to make it in any decent time, so I decided to perform an "Air Cav" landing and hope the enemy pilot can't spot me in the ground clutter. Came in too fast, flipped the Huey, and burned. Damn. I hate it when that happens. So I load up two medical personnel and a crate of repair parts and depart Lochini for a medical base out west of town. About 15km from my objective, I spot green smoke about 1km to my north. Ah hah! I think, that's where that pilot down is located, I'll pick him up on the way back. I had to drop off the cargo first. KABLAM! POW! BOOM! A Gepard blows me out of the sky. Sneaky convoy. Now I know what brought down the plane flown by the stranded pilot. So I load up two medical personnel and a crate of repair parts and depart Lochini for a medical base out west of town. This time, I'm taking an alternate route that puts me on the other side of a low range of hills from where I expect the convoy to be prowling. I get to the "notch" in the hills where I change my bearing a few degrees and smugly think, "I got this one.." KABLAM! POW! BOOM! Another Gepard. Crash and burn. Scorecard: AI -- 12 red personnel (four each flight, co-pilot, pilot, and two med personnel) and three crates of repair parts. Me -- 0 Good job mirknir.....I prefer a challenge.

I would love to join up with 3-4 other Huey pilots and go wreak havoc on targets sometimes. I'm not the greatest helo pilot, but I'm enthusiastic. I did fly a delivery tonight and made two good landings. The arrival at the airport was sweet....I think I'm starting to get a feel for manipulating the collective.

Very nice....if I wasn't still kinda' broke I'd help more. It seems like you put a tremendous amount of work and thought into this. Thanks.

Load cargo: Try to deliver said cargo: No stops or actions in between lifting off and landing at delivery point. Is there anything I can do to help troubleshoot?
-
Interesting....yesterday I loaded up repair parts and two medical personnel and flew to a field hospital. When I got there, I had nothing to deliver.

Is there a way I can recall chat window entries? Be nice if we could have some kind of 'command' history there. It would be useful for checking a "-re cap2" type entry without having to completely re-enter it. I know...it seems a small thing, but I fly in a dim room and my keyboard is awkward to reach.
-
Right SHIFT+M gives you some options for radio chatter, including AWACS. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2656415&postcount=1
-
I don't think it's AWACS. I have one radio tuned to a preset ATC channel and that's it. I think it's the result of a radar beam hitting the aircraft. It sounds like the squelch knob being turned just a teensy little bit until you can just hear the background "hiss". It was so coincidental when it happened. I assumed you used radar to find me...then shut off the radar and activated the AIM9 targeting. I could be totally wrong about all of this though; I'm having too much fun flying to think about it too much.
-
Interesting thing I noticed while dying on the server. Today, the previous poster fired an AIM9 up the tail pipe of my L-39 while I was egressing an attack on a supply base. What's interesting is the short burst of static I heard in my headphones just before I was shot down. At the time I wondered, "why am I hearing static suddenly? Is someone hitting me with radar?" I know the AIM9 is IR, but it was certainly an interesting coincidence. I'm pretty sure though, that I could hear the attacker's radar sweeping the aircraft. So for other L-39 flyers, if you suddenly hear a short burst of low static in your radio....kiss ur butt buh-bye.

Now that's confusing. So the testing you did that produced "stutters" wasn't live?
