Problem with latest patch
AstroEma replied to AstroEma's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Perfect, thanks Sabre. Will try that. -
Where did you find the TacView app for the iPad?

I was almost over the BFT campaign with most Qs in the missions (aerobatics wad the next I had to do) and the latest DCS patch restarted the campaign! :( Is there any way to get all the missions back or start from the Aerobatics one? I really don't want to start it again! Thanks E.

Hi all, with the latest patch applied, while connected to a friend' server, as soon as we get into the game, while playing with the L39, the plane shuts itself off. We searched for the cause of this but did not find anything different than before (previous patch). Might be a bug in the new patch? Thanks, E.

I would be interested in a CDU...

Awesome guys. I appreciate all your help in this!
-
Well, I just discovered that the controllers are seen as gloves inside DCS, so I can only imagine what is coming!!
-
Hi All, how do you guys create those cameras on the ground, that are fixed on the plane flying? Just like a TV cameras at airshows? Is there a procedure for creating those? Thank you! E.

Virtual Desktop App for VR headsets
AstroEma replied to Nascar's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, too bad its been pushed back a few days at a time. Was supposed to be released on the 28th. Waiting for it impatiently. -
Correct. Zooming in does not work. I can see the messages coming in in the top left corner of the FOV, but they are too far left and too far up to be readable as well. But these are just small issue that are easily addressed with time.
-
Kraszus, I have been playing DCS with the Vive for a couple of weeks and the gauges are not readable: that means the numbers in the gauges, not the needle positions. Also, the label are not readable as well. If you get closer to the panel, then yes they do become readable. Also, spotting targets on the ground will be very hard since there's no way of zooming in, and the resolution of the ground is affected by how close our eyes are to the lenses/screen which only have a limited res (1800x1200 per eye). The sense of immersion you have though is unreal.

HI all, Not really a question related to the DCS module but does anyone know which helmets the pilots use on the Warthog? Thanks! E.
-
Correct.
-
Hershberg, I am playing with the Vive and DCS by just enabling the option in DCS. I do not have the Steam version of DCS.

Have the DK2 and tried the CV1 extensively. I didn't see that much difference in the DK2 and CV1 at least in the applications I tried a few months ago (last November) Judder has always been a problem and didn't see it resolved in the CV1. Again in the applications I was using and with older runtime perhaps. Maybe the code changed lately and they solved the issue. Keep in mind I am using those HMDs for serious simulation (project I am doing in my company) so you milage may vary for normal gaming.

FOV is slightly less than the Rift but very slightly. Can't see any screen door effect. Lenses on the Vive are different than on the Rift. They have a circular pattern.
-
For anyone waiting for their Vive, I can confirm that DCS 1.5.3 supports it without any problems. And it is a way better experience than using the Rift. No judder, no latency of any kind, and the feeling of being in the cockpit is seriously incredible. Only thing is that when in the cockpit the position of the virtual camera is a bit too far back, and almost flushed with the backrest of the seat. I can somewhat read the MFDs in the A10, and most of the gauges. But in no way the engraved panels can be read. In the Mirage, while the cockpit is perfect in 3D, there's no way to read most of the instruments or MFDs. All in all, a heart racing experience but no way usable for mission flying.
-
Actually, have been playing all the VR games/demo in steam since yesterday and there's absolutely no latency in the headset and the controllers. Much better resolution as well for some reason (same specs on paper)
-
Yep, recieved it a few weeks ago. Didn't have time to set it up until today. Seriously awesome. Completely different experience from the Rift. How do I set it up with DCS?

Thanks Guys, it worked perfectly now. The problem was a combination of hof and rpm settings!
-
So, I am playing the Overwatch mission and there is some infantry on the ground which needs CBU87 to be killed. Dropping the bombs with the standard settings -hof 1800- disintegrates the bomb in the air and I don't see any droplets ejected. I tried changing the hof to 3000 and the same thing happens: bombs drops and the explodes in the air. Height of terrain is 1700. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! E.

Thanks Guys for all the information you are giving! Seriously a wealth of info! I have turned on Large Icons and Labels, and it is easier to find targets, but still it should be more obvious than it is. I do not believe it is as difficult in real life to spot something on the ground, be it either infantry or ground vehicles. Try and do the Overwatch mission and spot the infantry on the hills.....

Totally agree with you on that. What I allowing annoying is that there's no feedback on the right mfd while creating mark points. I would have that they would have some kind of feedback instead of having to look on the TAD.
