I would say sneak up on 190s but who are we kidding, hiding the 47 is like hiding a house

Various sizes and amounts of bombs, plus either the hvars iirc and the bazookas Edit: cant remember it was hvars or ffars
-
maybe the problem is the other sims? i cant think of any modern sim that has the spitfire in it excluding IL2, i find the spitfire in dcs an absolute delight to fly
-
hopefully we get as many combinations of ordanance as possible then, wonder if we'll get any more info on it before release in terms of videos. i just wanna hear that sweet sweet radial and the calm soothing voice of "hey guys wags here"
-
Does anyone happen to know what mp settings we are likely going to be running with? I hear so many different settings used.
-
most people land the spitfire wrong, the manual states to 3 point it however in every video i have seen of them landing in real life, they wheel it on with the tail just below level, also make sure to land with prop at 2500, at full rpm the flare window is much shorter.

Yeeees, defo pre ordering, this and the mosquito when they're coming.
-
+1 but for all warbirds, the spitfire would be in the air in less then a few hundred meters if you did this and somehow remained in control :megalol:

Could be something to do with the brakes as well? A super cub I got my tailwheel endorsement on had to have brakes replaced twice due to taxiing and take off with the parking brake on lol. Brake binding would be interesting.

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
zcrazyx replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
It's all good, we can blast away at the more armoured targets the 50s and 20s cant damage! -
Depends on the aircraft you're shooting at, the 190 falls apart much easier then the 109 which has been noted to take take far more damage then is reasonable, regardless if its 50 cal ammo or 20mm he, the 109s only real structural weakness currently is the horizontal stabilizer. Other then that it can be leaking every fluid known to man and still be able to rtb

Interesting you should note the one at the de havilland museum, is that by chance the same museum that resides in the buildings that they developed it in secret?, if so there was also a mosquito with the mollins 57mm cannon there, would be sweet to see it in the sim for u boat hunts hehehe, think there was also a cookie bomb there too. Night fighter would be nice but theres nothing to face in it at night currently, maybe if we got German AI bombers? -
DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
zcrazyx replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
I guess it depends on what time period they wish to do, it seems to be a similar use case to the mustang where in the UK earlier in the war it wasnt used but later on in the war in certain places it was used. There is reference to fb vi using it in Norway I think (will link later on) however given the fact that ed has done mk ix spitfire and the Britain map is being worked on leads me to think it's based around 1942 some time and hence 100/130. -

Dont suppose we get to know if we're running 150 octane or not? -
While shooting a 190 in a spitfire, he reported smoke however for me this was not present, then his friend said he coulndt see the smoke either, we were in the same discord. edit: i was only about 20m behind him so i could visually see aliaron missing and other battle damage but no smoke.

Rudders Automaticly Countersteer to the left :/
zcrazyx replied to Ravacoon's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
I believe your problem is that you have rudder assist on, it is the only time i have noticed such weird behaviour that is consistent. go to options, special then select the spitfire and turn off rudder assist, then try to take off again. -
Show me your dogfighting skills....

3:55 and 5:50 some naughty kills, that first 109 flew for over 15miles like that, things a damn tank. -
Not sure if this is a bug or intended however im having big issues with seeing the A8 with lables on in VR, Apparently its easy to see for non vr users without lables but for us with vr it can be hard. has anyone else had similiar issues?
-
my advice would be to add slight deadzone and saturation to the curves if you use hotas without extender, also as others have pointed out tapping the brakes will help with taxiing, if you choose to taxi at walking pace then traditional tailwheel techniques will help to keep her in check and easily controllable, if you prefer to not use as much brakes it might be worth trying to taxi slighty faster then walking pace, it should give you more rudder authority however it is more dangerous if you let it get away.

spitfire has always been known for being rough on the ground right up until flight, its one of the hardest aircraft to do a nice take off and landing in on the sim. having the right controls, practice and techniques helps to aliviate these factors. i see many instances of people whacking throttle on and veering off then crashing or landing with full rpm which drastically causes the flare to be much shorter, then there is the actual techniques of landing, a lot of people seem to 3 point it where as in every irl video i have seen they touch down mains first with the tail slightly low, then stick sligtly forwards to keep it planted and to bleed enough speed to then hold the stick back without risk of taking off again.
-
i feel like module wise it would be good to incorperate it, that being said if players who are doing historical roles well thats gonna be map dependant, i.e normandy or uk when it comes out. on causcaus though where its a mish mash i say why not, it will be player choice.

1 on 1 for a mustang to beat a 109 it takes an experienced pilot and around 40% fuel with the usage of flaps to even stand a chance of dealing with a 109 and it is by no means easy. For the 190 it would be closer speed wise if wep didn't randomly kill the engine after short use.
