ah you must fly the i16 in multiplayer then
-
depends on how you measure it and the conditions, not to mention that the german figures are with different prop and not the one we have, iirc after i tested it the trend was that it was slower but climbed better then the graphs by about 5% margin.

people want the griffon spitfires due to how much the k4 maules aircraft 1v1, the spitfire would help to somewhat level the field and also bring a capable aircraft to the game, although seeing as ED refuses to add 150 octane for mustang i cant see why they would take the time to make another spitfire instead of further diversifying aircraft. that being said the contradictory side is in the interview they said they wish to do a battle of britain scenario so would more then likely see another spitfire and 109, as well as maybe the hurricane.

Immediate Negative-G blackout when over 250mph
zcrazyx replied to kurtj's topic in Bugs and Problems
i did experiance this yesterday on storm of war, i used to also get this in the sabre and mig 15 a few years ago. -
i did sea level on standard mission editor settings caucasus. SL and 10k ft SL p47 and 51 averaged about equal at 10k p47 (356) p51 (385mph) note these speeds were taken with tacview

Teach me the ways of the spitfire
zcrazyx replied to GR00VYJERRY's topic in DCS: Spitfire L.F. Mk. IX
For the brakes i tend to have it set on a paddle but instead of having it like real life where the brake is off when the paddle is held i just have it as off when release then tap the paddle when taxiing, as for take off as stated make sure your axis are set right and as for trim a good general rule is for the rudder knob to display vertically and for the elevator to be set to prefrence, i normally trim it forwards. if you want an easier time on take off then use reduced power settings, dont use full power until the plane is under control, +8 boost should do the trick nicely, you can use more when you understand how the aircraft will behave, standard t/w techniques will apply, stick back, when airspeed comes alive stick neutral or slight forward, then when the tail lifts fly the aircraft off the runway. all of this should be done while dancing on the rudder. once airbourne the spitfire handles very well and as stated will need trimming depending on the speed range, the spitfire doesnt have aliaron trim so you will find you need to fly a bit more hands on. for landing i typically get it trimmed and dirtied up on downwind or long final, i noramlly do a curved approach to keep the runway in sight. the manual states that the prop should be 2700rpm with 0 boost. you will find your grond roll and flare will change a fair bit depending on the prop settings at least from my observations. there are different methods for landing, regardless of what the manual says you will find what works for you, if you are good at judging height a 3 point may work better for you, if not then try wheel it on with the tail slightly low, depending on speed you may have to push slight forwards on the stick to keep it from bouncing. that being said on a wheeler once under control the stick should gradually go forwards to prevent the tailwheel from slamming on the ground. if you want we can hop on a multiplayer server and i can help. -
Mig21 and fighter maneuverability in todays terms
zcrazyx replied to Dirty Rotten Flieger's topic in MiG-21Bis
I remember that the mat thing was true as well, i also remember that they had to make the blast deflectors on aircraft carriers out of special materials to handle jet blast because the decks kept melting, i would say mats for vtol aircraft probably isnt too far fetched considering just how much hot gas is flying out the back of the exaust -
you may want to be more specific, do you mean prop damage causing imbalance? cause i have noticed this on the P51, Spitfire and BF109.

flyable aircraft with torpedos :D, oh and a lancaster with the super special bombs, dam busters, grand slam etc Spitfire XIV for the damage model to be finished 150 octane for p-51 mustang

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
zcrazyx replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
you know while we're waiting i suggest we find the best stories of mosquitos that can be found! i'll start with the spartan mosquitos sorry that i dont know how to embed the link -
dont know about that but when the rockets are added for the 47 i should think that hydras and zunis wouldnt be out of question, wonder what bombs could be hauled :D

as stated this would seem to be something to do with the airfield, i know that when ground services are not available they sometimes just dont respond to you at least for the ground crew. other then that its likely youre at a hostile or nautral airfield. the radio should not have much to do with it as a while back they allowed ww2 aircraft to be rearmed with engines off or running.

I havent really noticed any differences in landing behaviour so i guess im equally bad before and after the updates lmao, still getting used to the nose attitude being vastly different to that of the mustangs, feels odd to be so slow with such high nose attitude in such a big aircraft. am really looking forward to drop tanks, rockets and additional skins. most hyped for the ww2 damage models to be updated though as it will make the ww2 fights feel more real

Flaps are used for lift and drag, hence they are mainly used for take off and landing in regards to field length, surface, density altitude and weight of aircraft. In a cessna on take off for example: a short field take off may be done with 10 or 20 degree flap (i cant remember) and stick back to keep the nose wheel from dragging on the ground. on a long paved runway no flap may be used if you're not concerned about length used but this is down to pilot judgement for small aircraft where there is a lot of runway to use. additionally on landing, flaps are generally standardised in manuals according to techniques. for a deadstick landing you would obtain best glide, pick a field and then use the flaps to bring back the touchdown point if you're slightly high. as for wind, in a stable approach with a crosswind it is generally not factored in for flaps useage however in gusty conditions they sometimes are but again this depends on the type of field you're landing on and the aircraft you're flying. The DCS P51 manual notes normal landings, gusty conditions and crosswinds. for normal it suggests full flap for gusty it suggests half flap and higher speed for crosswind no mention of flap is made but it does note to dip a wing, this to me indicates normal flap usage as for taxiing i would suggest raising the flaps as they definately have an effect which is just undeniable, in standard tailwheel technique you use stick forwards when taxiing with a tailwind to present it with more surface to push on and hence keep the tail down, flaps are going to act in the same way, as well as possibly reducing breaking effectiveness. another thing to note is the type of flaps an aircraft have, different aircraft may have different flaps which vary in the amount of drag and lift they give, where the p47 and p51 have variable angle flaps, the spitfire does not, either full up or full down. Another way to think about it is the difference between wheeler landings and 3 pointers, wheelers are normally done when the wind conditions are sufficient to warrent this type of landing to retain controlability and lift. in this technique you use higher speeds to ride through the conditions. an example of this is in the tiger moth which has no flaps but accepts a 5-10mph speed increase on a wheeler landing. the tldr for gusty conditions is this: specific aircraft have specific techniques, for the p51 its less flap and higher speed in gusty conditions. some aircraft do not specify gusty conditions for flaps, in which case either assume the same as normal or use the conditions for wheeler landings. (for t/w aircraft)

its on the throttle, twist grip, you need to bind it to use it

i know i am merely saying that considering ed has mentioned the 262 is still in the research phase compared to the corsair which already has screenshots of it, that its very likely the corsair will come first regardless of who is making what.
-
afaik the 262 is still in the research phase in developement so i would expect an aircraft to come before it and after the mosquito, this will in my opinion end up being the Corsair
-
other thing people are not taking into account is how close they did the test, the 108 was a notoriously low velicity cannon when compared to others, in the air the distance and speed difference between aircraft will have an effect, substancial velocity will be lost quickly due to distance. edit: also do we know the angle at which they shot at during the test? the pic with fusalage damaged looks like a straight side on shot and not a rear shot through the tail.

all of this talk with the 30mm damage output and im just here wondering how the mosquito will react to damage
-
i mean hey, if a heli can take an rpg, a bomber can take an 88mm shell direct and keep flying and a Mustang in dcs can take a t72 cannon shell through the wing then i see nothing wrong here

DCS: de Havilland DH.98 Mosquito FB Mk VI Discussion
zcrazyx replied to msalama's topic in DCS: Mosquito FB VI
Im really exited for the mosquito, gonna be interesting having a twin piston aircraft in dcs, hopefully the handling characteristics are on point, will be interesting to see how the wooden aircraft stands up to damage. also i know its wishful thinking but tsetsi mustang when -
For the P51, use wep where needed, to do this press E when at full throttle to break the wep wire then reset the throttle to full again, this gives you more MP to play with. when using wep you will likely need to manually control the radiators, the controls for that are on the mid left of the cockpit under two covers, i recommend binding these. Also get used to the time they take to open and close as this will dictate how long you can run at high temp for. for hitting targets, make sure the wing span is set right, for most aircraft you'll face it will be around 10m or 33ft. when leading a targe place the pipper on the centre of the aircraft to get a fire solution. what i would suggest is learning to do accurate heavy bursts of fire into an aircraft. peppering an aircraft wont do much when compared to longer bursts that are accurate, this will also save ammo. you will also need to continually adjust the sight for range which i also advise having binded to a set of buttons on a hotas. when flying against a 109 dont get slow and if you do then utilise 10degree of flaps, specific manauvers should allow you to make a 109 over shoot but you highly risk being hit. against 190s you shouldnt have much issue turning with them or keeping with them. As for catching them, the 109 and mustang have similar top speeds, id recommend revising the best dive angle to accelerate the fastest as the 109 sevrely out performs the 51 in most areas. Another thing is to have good axis curves set for the controls, this allows fine control at a given section of travel, this will be more noticable at low speed where the aircraft is likely to stall if large amounts of force are applied. Summary: Use WEP (E to activate when at full throttle max safe time listed at 5min but can go for longer) Use manual radiator control (bind these onto hotas, oil and coolant) Dont get slow, and if you do use 10 degree of flaps and specific manauvers (bind the flaps) Have the gunsight wingspan properly set and the range correct (bind the ranging to hotas)

As usually i doubt the 30mm claims, every time i have been hit or have hit with the 30 i have only had to fire 1 or 2 rounds, used tacview to verify, now what i will say is that after being hit by 1 if the aircraft does survive it shouldnt be able to pull anywhere near the g that they can without being hit

apparently im not banned, might of just been that the server was down  either way i didnt feel bad strafing, got 3 years of burning skies axis strafing ptsd
