  1. You do have to remember that the devs would need data to verify all of this, so if they could prove it and had the relevant data then sure it would be less effort to modify and implement however it may be hard to get said data anyway.

    two years in

I love the Mig 21 and all the work put into it, was my first module that i purchased, hard to land, fast as all hell, and makes you a damn good pilot +1
  3. I think the two most notable ones that being Missile performance as AOA limitation are already known and being looked into. That being said there are some minor ones like missing textures on the SPS box as well as the gun pods box and the nuclear delivery box. I also am going to look into the SPS pod because it seems the auto release mode doesn't work. edit: the missing labels occurs in beta versions for me, not sure about release.
  4. We need something, It's been years since the mig 21 was released and we still have no more redfor aircraft that are study level. I did a poll on if people would like a modernised Mig 21 and the results were 2 to 1 in favour of it. Problem is that which one would they do.
  5. Looks good so far but for sure we badly red redfor aircraft that are PFM and full fidelity. If not a modern air frame then at least from an avionics stand point. I love flying form with F18s but when they're seeing stuff 80 miles away and i can't tell who or what is locking me and sometimes not even that because of the rwr blind spots as well as the fact the radar is only good to 20km then you know we're out of date lmao. I still love the idea of having a modernised Mig 21 in game because it's not too far off what we have now from a flying stand point. they feature similar systems to aircraft like the Mig 29, some are built as air superiority fighters and others ground attack which begs the question as to what the max landing weight is with BLC because in the mig its a bare airframe with 800ltr fuel. In any event a Mig 21UM might be cool from a trainer stand point to complete the trifecta of aircraft off. Yak 52, L-39, Mig 21UM. then i can mess with the nozzle position and scare the trainee with engine surges and compressor stalls :P :megalol: Also it'll help train the noobies to not barrel roll down the runway heh
  6. We are getting the Mig 19 and 23, however one will be stuck in a weird spot between the 15/sabre and the Mig 21 and the other will not be a dogfighter.
  7. I'm talking in relation to DCS not real world politics. The reason I chose the LancR and 93 is because both are still in use, both have modern avionics, Sure many countries still use the Bis but i'm merely suggesting it would be nice to have an older airframe (in dcs) that can still fight against 4th gen as i believe that many people will not buy the Mig 21 on the basis it is meant to be an interceptor and dogfighter which in dcs at least only has one human foe, the F5E and with the recent update even that is now becoming out of the question. Also not to mention the fact that some us Mig pilots wanna use guided munitions :P the last thing i have to say is that at the least a BIS D version would be a nice change, updated ILS etc.
  8. While i do think about the older ones being introduced to sort of balance the Vietnam era I just think that having more variety in a module would extend the life and play time significantly hence why i suggested some of the new models, as someone said though, some systems or information might be classified or not available but I have to question this as a lot of the tech is from other aircraft such as targeting pod and weapons like the R77 which if i remember the Mig 29 uses. Imho i believe the hardest system would be the radar as i'm fairly sure most countries don't want anyone to know the limitations of such a system.
  9. i have a similar issue with it when the camera moves past a certain point, if its point at the 90 it begins to have a weird response to controls
  10. I mean if P40 and P-38 pilots wore flannel shirts in Burma because of the heat then why not F-14 pilots :P hell i did my first solo and qualifying cross country in what can only be described as a rather flamboyant shirt lmao, the again that was a cessna not a 1000+ hp beast
  11. Give us some naval aircraft! Seafire would be dope
  12. I think the real issue at the moment is that they tweaked the flight model and now it flies so much different that everyone seems to think the critical aoa was lowered too much, an issue that is being looked into :P so hopefully they fix the bis before anything else happens, i just honestly wanna have an old airframe that i love be able to do similar things to the modern stuff, a mix of old and new if you will.
  13. So with everyone creating polls i thought i'd make this one for us Mig 21 lovers. I love the Mig 21 but it feels a bit out of place given the avionics compared to the M2K and all the 4th gen aircraft running around so i'm interested to see if anyone would actually be interested in a modernised version such as the -93 and LanceR. Most of us would agree that the 21 is perhaps the hardest aircraft to land with exception of helicopters in DCS, so why not also make it a deadly foe in the skies with R77s and improved radar! There also might be a possibility of an expanded ground ordnance suite as some version were capable of lazing targets giving the possibility of guided munitions in addition to some of the older systems we're used to. If neither are within the realm of possibility then i suggest adding the Mig 21UM, now i know a lot of people will say oh no another trainer aircraft but hear me out. We have the L-39, we now have the Yak 52, so why not have a Mig21 UM? The 21 is perhaps one of the hardest aircraft to land in the game and has some very interesting operation characteristics in both flight and systems. So share your thoughts! would you like this challenge and upgrade?
  14. Noticed this on the default map as well, should be able to get around 4300m but i have to get to 3600 to get a good hit.
  15. Cant wait to sneak up on unsuspecting 109s then dash away fast as all hell, on another note i hope we can get the bouncing bombs, 4000lbs bomb and the 57 mm molins cannon, would mean more then one version of the aircraft though. Oh well we have 3 different Gazelles!
  16. The cluster bombs do work in the Mig 21, It just seems to be the case that you have to drop them from fairly high altitude for the fuse to go off, best way to test is cruise at 12k ft with sau recovery on and arm the weapons for dropping
  17. I would understand if that happened on a wet day on mud but on asphalt? not so sure, then again i supposed i've become accustomed to drifting a Cessna onto the runway using rudder and power for fear of getting the brakes caked. As far as ground handling foes for the spitfire i think the CW has not been affected to greatly but i haven't flown it a lot so my opinion shouldn't be used there, for the non cw im not too sure, i have got the landings down well enough to pull a 3 pointer off but the wing tip issue seems to only occure at much higher speeds now, maybe its muscle memory telling us to correct or maybe we're not going balls to the walls power on take off.
  18. I just seem to notice an issue of where we both boot up in a fresh gazelle, he'll start up but for me the engine wont spool however we can fly.
  19. so you're saying that we have to have two different styles to fight the same aircraft? how does that make any sense, surely you want this to be uniform as ED strives for a realistic simulator.
  20. I just tried to dogfight an AI mig 21 in a mig 21 and it was running circles around me even at the same speed range, it just sustains way more aoa and accelerates faster, in the same dive at the same speed he pulled up climbed, managed a split s and got back on my tail all in the same time i had just got out of an aoa stall.
  21. Hence why i said leave the battery on, if we had a feature that would manually let us pull the prop through then sure but otherwise we're kinda stuck, besides at least if we cant get it started we can do this!
  22. if you over prime then cut the mags, and turn the fuel off, then use the starter to spin the engine over and draw fuel out.
  23. Some systems on the D model are still classified so the chances are low that we will get one, that being said i think the bombcat will be very nice
  24. As hunter said chucks guide will be your best friend, i also suggest studying videos to get a view of the landing speeds and attitude of the spitfire with and without flaps, another thing to do is get used to the torque at different RPM settings as it increases exponentially with rpm. I suggest doing stall practice, slow speed handling and also tight turns to see how the buffet is. Definitely read the manual with regards to the engine, if you push it too hard IT WILL FAIL and i cannot stress that enough, it suffers badly with overheating and the radiators will blow when there isn't enough air running through them meaning in tight turns and also vertical manauvers you have to manage the engine correctly to avoid any issues. Normally the heating will occur near the stall at high power settings. If you want i'm happy to help you train and learn, the last thing i'll suggest is adding a curve to the control surfaces especially the rudder as the aforementioned torque will end up inverting the aircraft on take offs and landings if you're not on it like a hawk.
