Vulcan as far as i remember could go super sonic in a dive, also was one of the bombers able to out turn the f4 phantom at high altitude not to mention the fact that it had a very good bomb load, the possibility for nukes, and two very big missiles or conventional bomb load would in my opinion make it fairly popular with those who like multi crew ops and might even bring over some of the civil flight sim folks. question is how they would do the bomb computer.

** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
zcrazyx replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I think people do need to remember that this is a business that developers run with love and care, many of the modules that were developed and are in the making take many years to complete and an uncountable amount of man hours that i'm sure even the devs could not count. The combat sim market is not a large one so i can appreciate heatblur wanting to push a 95% complete module on release then a buggy broken one a year earlier. as you mentioned bad PR is mostly what halts the growth of DCS and i believe to an extent the Harrier is suffering by it right now (not that i'm sure why, seems alright to me). The worst offender is the mig 21 which is just so broken, now with that said, would you rather a module that works when you prepurchase or buy in alpha release, or buy a known semi broken module that is receiving little love (at least on the outside). I think everyone needs to take a step back and appreciate the heatblur is even communicating with us about their various activities and technologies and are being upfront about their intentions. So everyone hold you horses and wait till the 7th, i'm sure what we will see will not disappoint, release or not! -
I think there is a bug where once you've fired the first one then the second will get stuck on the firsts lock, apparently there is a way to cycle it though i am not sure.

Been suggested many times and at least twice with the f5e release, i doubt we'll see it for a long time which is a shame because many times have aircraft came in with no hyd pressure and skidded of the runway when they could of just used a hook and wire

Youtube Promotional access possible for the f14?

I know imma get it when it comes out! shame i can't look awesome in those sweet deck landing videos :music_whistling: Hope all those F5E deck landings i've done come to good use, also hope they add banner towing as it could tow a banner to 200 kts lmao -
** DCS: F-14 Development Update - September!! **
zcrazyx replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Curious to see this data, I know that the Tomcat had some maintenance costs and issues compared to newer aircraft like the legacy hornets however I do believe that if the USN could fix the radar maintenance issues with the D then surely after all these years there is a strong possibility that they have done the same, however that being said i do remember a story on a documentary about when the conflict happened and the US pulled the engineers out they sabotaged a lot of the airframes systems on the way out. That being said, it is always foolish to underestimate a foes capability based on just data alone, The United States learned this in Korea and Vietnam not just in the air but also on the ground. As for the pilots not flying, that's anyone's guess, some pilots fly from 18 to almost 60 in some exceptional cases however that is not the norm, if anything i would say that the pilots might well of out lasted the air-frames life time but that's not to say that they still fly them (or domestically made or repaired ones) edit: the one other thing is the political climate is different, if Russians got caught in another countries airforce wearing their own colours then it would be a political nightmare because as i'm led to believe that's largely what happened on Korea with Mig 15s being easier to shoot down until the Soviets started piloting them. -

Thats the thing people seem to forget, an air craft with a missile is just as deadly if used correctly, If a mig 21 in dcs can splash f-15s with broken fm, rwr and missiles then i'm fairly sure a sneaky aircraft with some rear aspect missiles could take down a much new aircraft, also worth noting that the Tomcat had a very powerful radar so assuming there is still a few of them flying they could prove to be a very tricky aircraft to go up against especially considering if they're still flying then the pilots likely are still around. -
Omg an OV-10 with rockets would be so awesome to use, maybe off field capability? Also they were operated from carriers at some point.
-
Is this common place? It could be many things, maintenance team might of been messing with it, could of had a failure at after-burn setting and the nozzle stayed open, Might of just been training.

Not to mention they now carry Russian missiles and likely a lot of reverse engineered tech, I think a lot of people underestimate the capabilities of the aircraft because of the embargo however that also works in their favour as they were forced to adapt. -
Very true, makes me wonder when or if we will get an F-4 phantom, would be awesome to have the F-5E, F-4 Phantom, and F-14 Tomcat two of which could operate as multi crew. Imagine a SEAD mission followed by a bombing mission on hard targets with the F5 being CAP nearby or even the reverse where the 14 Runs cap and the f5 bombs.

If you wanna recreate Vietnam then i'm sure the A and B Tiger Variant would be more realistic, didn't even have a radar and was the most numerous afaik.

if only.

Please??? Its a shame that it was a Mig 19 SM30 that was used not the farmer B I can just imagine F86s and F5E going to attack a farp and all of a sudden awacs yells Pop up! two groups!

I've noted that in the Spitfires manual that is provided for the sim as well as the real world one and also the AIR Ministries pilot notes that the spitfire could be equipped with 30,45 and 90 gallon drop tanks so i am wondering if we will ever see these implemented? Also Surprised that the mustang doesn't get its 100 gal drop tanks but then again that aircraft could fly for hours anyway :P
-
Wouldn't be useless at all, A lot of important stuff sits behind the stick on aircraft, the spitfire, has its magnetic compass there, the Mustang has its rocket/bomb selector as well as fuel tank selector and gunsight switch there.

I'm so hyped for this aircraft, gonna be nice having those big cannons and some missile as well as super sonic capability, now i can go from the 15 to the 19 to the 21 :D

[FIXED] Flickering skin texture on nose of aircraft in 2.5
zcrazyx replied to CrazyGman's topic in DCS: MiG-15bis
Noticed it when in cockpit view on caucaus with the USSR RED skin, look to the rear out the cockpit to see it -
If you wanna see a meme, get a huey to ram your vert stab and rudder off until there is only a little bit of the rudder left, take off and note that it still has most of the rudder authority with only 10% of the surface.

Multicrew - Can't slew camera left and right
zcrazyx replied to DrummerNL's topic in Bugs and Problems
I straight up cant turn it on most of the time in multicrew and i have a weird thing where the engine wont be on but the heli will be flying. -
Despite the flight model being iffy :P Just some friendly ACM to drop my fuel to 850ltr so the Boudry Layer Control works.

I would prefer the E because nuke and R530

As much as i believe that there is place for such an awesome helicopter in the sim however i'm not entirely sure how many people would invest into it. It does not have much offensive capability outside of .50 cal and the minigun which is what most come to the sim for. however if it was paired with a Nato attack helicopter such as the Apache then I can see the appeal for it as it would be awesome to go pick up troops and supplies while an Apache runs fire support over head.

BFT 02 - tailwind landing?
zcrazyx replied to moggel's topic in A-10C Basic Flight Training Qualification DLC
Generally it's height dependant in an emergency situation, flying into wind gives you the best glide distance and a lower ground speed however if you cannot perform the turn to get into wind then find the biggest flattest strip of ground you can (within glide distance) edit: that being said, military aircraft have way better brakes then GA aircraft and usually bigger runways to land on so a tailwind at an airport is not generally to big of an issue. -
They may not be affiliated with the military but you have to remember that this is a simulator that prides itself on realism, would you be flying it if it was not realistic? because in that regard it would become another world of warplanes.
