the ships do indeed get removed from the mission (i.e. added to the list of units to remove when restarting the mission!) once destroyed. our group took the same tack - we decided to take out the ships as a priority due to their propensity to send sams our way. ;) be aware, they are tough and can shoot down things (i.e. missiles) coming at them and units must be completely destroyed before they are on the "i am dead" list. hope that helps (make sure you have the change to the missionscript file done per the instructions). -
It was not in the OP or poll, but here is a second for the JF-17. It may cover all the bases the Viper does but more fleshed out in the game right now? Otherwise I would say Harrier - I just started into learning it and am finding it very enjoyable - I have also been mainly flying the SU-25T and FC3 fighter jets.

heclak, Do you all have an idea of when you might make a new release? Also, is there any (likely slim) that the A-4E will be compatible or made compatible with the Supercarrier? Thx!

Operation Black Spire - Nevada PvE Playground

HiCKS, If you ever need to look in it, the log file is in the saved games -> dcs (or dcs open beta) -> logs folder. The dcs.log is the latest. -

HiCKS, maybe your server log can show a clue? -

HiCKS, maybe i can help. ensure that the MissionScript.lua file has the two lines commented out per the instructions (the two -- in front of each line). i inadvertently lost some persistant saves because of a very minor update that put this file back to stock and I forgot about checking it after the update. also ensure DCS can write to the DCS folder you are running from (release or open beta, depending upon which you are running). if you are not running as an administrator group member this can be an issue. -
I am just trying/starting to get into this. I want to make missions using MOOSE. I have Eclipse LDT ready to go, but following the setup doc I am a bit lost now. It says (and gives a link to) the Moose latest release download. I worked my way through the github morass to find the 2.5.0pre release and downloaded that (as well as MOOSE master), but after looking at those files it seems that is not what I want? What I really want is the Moose Includes and Missions, correct? Maybe Missions Unpacked? Anything else? Sounds? I also see the setup instructions part 2 state there will be two files included in the download (where it pointed to the MOOSE framework, i.e. 2.5.0pre or master) to include in my missions, moose.lua and moose_.lua. The main framework does not seem to include those at all, but one of the files is in Include. I canot find moose_.lua anywhere in the files I have downloaded (moose 2.5.0 pre, master, and moose includes). I also find moose.lua in multiple places such as in a static and dynamic directory in the MOOSE_Includes Then how to set up the new project in LDT? Or is this where I need the MOOSE framework (either 2.5.0pre or master) directory structure? Any clear instructions for a complete newb here? Thx!

Thank you. Any tips on adding persistence? Or can you point me somewhere? -

Apache, another question: i did not notice but is persistence enabled in the Crack the Channel mission? Due to our limited time, it is not likely we would even get to the point of red air activity. Thx! EDIT: FYI, we would be running this on a dedicated server. -

Apache, Thx. Not been to the track, when I had time I never got to it and now I just do not have time, money, or permission (wife, two kids). Difficult enough to fly DCS! I am just wondering about red air at all. we have fired the mission up a couple times and never see any. we have played over an hour into the mission. we are also having issues with cat launches, may well be a 2.5.6 problem though as some have reported cat issues during the spat of releases. i will say i modded the mission to give everything parking hot start (we do not have the time to do ramp starts, flight time is valuable to us). would just changing that cause an issue? or hosting on a dedicated server for soem reason? thank you sir! -
you may have to wait a bit for it to finish starting up. use the connect/retry button in the popup window. did you change the default ports? probably should put this question in the dedicated server thread. BTW, I am running open beta server with no issues, but i have been keeping updated.

Apache, are there any noted issues running your missions (Crack the Channel in particular) with the latest open beta 2.5.6 updates? with that mission, when should red air appear in the mission? Thx! -

OK, grabbed it and made the mods for our group. This is the only error I see in the server log for loading the misasion, safe to ignore? 2020-02-25 20:50:51.566 ERROR FLIGHT: Unknown runway side 12L of beacon I-HWG at airdrome NorthLasVegasAirport 2020-02-25 20:50:52.033 WARNING LOG: 1 duplicate message(s) skipped. -

Thank you sir! Understood. My changes are simple and easy to replicate so no big deal; we need a good mission to tide us over until ED get the 2.5.6 carrier thing fixed. I will check out Snowfox thread! EDIT: read the end of Snowfox. It seems they got us with 2.5.6! Maybe we will just play without persistence for now. -

Surrexen, Any chance the mission scripting lua changes can be enabled/enacted via the Saved Games folder (or some other option)? Also, I assume it will not hurt to delete any client flights? I am modifying the mission a bit for our group's use and am considering all the slow movers starting at Creech and most of the faster movers starting at Nellis. I understand the diff you set up for ramp vs. hot (changing all to hot). Thx! -
[REPORTED]2.5.6 Dedicated server mission High Mem usage
hlfritz replied to wopski's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
@BIGNEWEY: OK, server log from yesterday attached. the relevant session starts on line 240; previous lines are from the server startup in case they are helpful and relevant. I cut a lot of lines in between as it was all a bunch of errors, almost (if not all) can't find proto. Those continue after players connect and the mission starts as well. There are a LOT of errors in the logs, but I do not know if this is normal or not - I have not had an occasion to review the logs like this before. it all goes to hell in a hand basket when the 3rd person connects at line 2985. no further entries were entered into the log, memory usage shot up to 9+ GB (our missions usually run from 1.8GB to 2.5GB), players just stuck in game and not able to do anything. The server had to be killed. We next ran a mission on NTTR and had 3 people with no issues. Let me know if you want that log as well for comparison. Also, I am open to troubleshooting further if you all would like. dcs.log.old.txt -
[REPORTED]2.5.6 Dedicated server mission High Mem usage
hlfritz replied to wopski's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
@BIGNEWY: what if the server does not crash? it only runs up all the memory available on the server (up to 11G on our server) and players cannot do much if anything (huge pauses - i.e. several seconds or more, cannot change roles, etc.). it also stops making log entries. -
what about the server and memory leak? it does not crash, but is unplayable. settings we can turn on to try and help diagnose? FWIW, there are a LOT of ERROR: can't find proto error messages in the server logs. also, in reviewing our server's logs they just stop after the 3rd person connects - no error entries at that point or after.
