Hello, Are there any pictures of what the APU on the Ka-50 looks like in real life? And where is it exactly positioned on the helicopter? Also, does it have it's own exhaust? I can hear it turning the engines, but I dont see it's exhaust from anywhere. Also what does that truck provide to the APU? fuel? electricity? Just curious :D I understand what an APU is, but I wanted to know what the Ka-50's looks like specifically. Thanks :D

The southern part of Georgia, the Akhalkalak region has a similar situation with Armenia as does South Ossetia with Russia, minus the fighting of course. During the Soviet era, that part of Armenia was joined to Georgia.

Making the KA50 available to other nations
haigotron replied to masonator's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yes, especially since I picked squadron 425 Alouettes in my pilot's log, I assumed in the ME i could be able to select it as my country. -
hey Tharos, you're right, I think I really am taking off too fast...since im not giving it time to properly hover on the main gears. I assume if I press trim before the EKRAN signals "Flight", the trim will not have any affect? In that case, I understand now that when I push trim and then pull on the collective that nothing is trimmed :P

it happened to me too once, really sweet :D does anyone know if bullets striking your wheels will pop them in-flight?

Fess up! Who else here is having a hard time?
haigotron replied to Ramstein's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
hard time = fun time for me :D I agree , I jumped the gun a few times (no pun intended) when I started firing and using the weaponry, but my basic flying/navigation is still very poor, so now that I had a bit of taste of the weaponry, I can go back to basic flight, which in itself is a lot of fun :D -
I find that landing on a helipad is alot harder then the runway, because, quite frankly I can't see vertically down, do I have to come in at an angle and gently "slope" down sideways onto the helipad? I guess I can always open the door and look down?
-
oh excellent, I never did it, and I was having a dickens of a time, trying to just keep it from moving back while pitching up :D thanks yo-yo :D

so, before doing a hover check, I should trim before taking off the ground? would that keep the helicopter from moving wildly?

I love you all equally, please do not fight for my love :D

Hello, I was parked and trying out the various Ground crew radio commands. I discovered the following, but I do not know if its actually like that in real life (can they pump out excess fuel?) So I had an almost full tank of gas (both in the Forward and Aft tanks). Then I asked the gun crew to refuel me for 25% fuel via voice commands. The needles then dropped down to reflect 25% fuel load. So is this a design choice? Or simulating real-life (ie they can pump out gas too)? Or a bug? Thanks

Agreed Great Job! This one is a keeper :D But I have a question, don't we also need to turn on the EKRAN/Hydraulics Switch from the rear wall panel in the beginning of the startup? -
I for one, work in the game industry also, and time and time again, we've seen small projects get canned to make way for milk cow console games... I can therefore understand 100% the sacrifice, the risks and the pressure it takes to make a game of this caliber :D Thanks again

were I to have 50+ children I would name them after each of the developers that worked on this project, that's how much I love this sim :D

Hello, Im usually lurking around in these forums, and not really posting - but I bought the english version yesterday and I cannot hold back any longer! I come from an IL-2 heavy and LOMAC light background, but after going through the game for a couple of hours, I can honestly say that the bar has been raised in flight sim quality. From the biggest things, down to the smallest details, I can say that DCS has done an excellent job with Black Shark. I cannot wait to see what the future holds. Yes, there might be small hitches and bugs, here and there...but honestly...what game comes out 100% clean? So I just wanted to thank everyone at DCS and ED for an amazing game! I'll be on this one for YEARS to come!!!

Congratulation ED for winning AC-130U DTS contract!
haigotron replied to amalahama's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I would like to point out what Call of Duty 4 did with the AC-130: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLq2WMm5vso Although a bit arcadey, the feeling is definitely there, it's scary!!! I think an AC-130 would definitely be an interesting addition, one day!
