  1. Ah yep, makes sense. I'll put some money aside for this grip, it does look superb. Hopefully they ship down under.
  2. If this is compatible with the Warthog base, then does that mean in will be compatible with the VKB Gunfighter base when its released? As the Mamba seems to allow for warthog sticks.
  3. How do people best manage their multiple flight sim peripherals? I have used up all available ports on my motherboard, so I might have to get a USB hub. I have heard that USB hubs aren't great for plugging peripherals into.. so what do people do? Also, I have a 650 watt PSU, an I'm wondering how many peripherals I can add before I start to run into power problems. Any thoughts?
  4. Excellent, thanks for your responses guys :)
  5. So in 2011 we got the Warthog. In 2016(?) we will get a Hornet. In 2020-22 one might predict a Russian full fidelity model. If an Eastern module was in development, it seems possible it would be a MiG-29, and perhaps the K model. We know that ED is pushing for carrier operations to be a big part of DCS going forward. Along with the Nimitz, which supports their Hornet module, Kuznetsov is also getting a similar treatment. In addition, a MiG-29K would be a great 'sister' module to the Hornet Charlie, as the two are comparable. We also know that the MiG-29 is getting an external makeover (not sure if the K model is included in that). Of course this is just speculation, but it would be an exciting inclusion. Do you think it's a possibility?
  6. Nevada is a brilliantly realised map inside of EDGE. From the media prior to launch I was impressed, but wait until you're soaring over it in game, the level of detail is worth the price of admission alone. It really serves to show how far flight sims have come. I guess it also comes down to using your imagination with combat scenarios; it's essentially a desert combat map with valleys and ridgelines, and is an awful lot fun flying down low. It's big enough to create a range of scenarios, and flying out of Groom Lake, when testing a new module, is a buzz! I'd pick it up with one of the Red Flag campaigns, you'll quickly forget that it's not a real warzone.
  7. Does anyone know if this piece of kit works well with DCS 1.5/2.0? Does DCS now allow for setting on/off on the same switch?

    DCS: F-5E!

It would be great to have a full Eagle module, given it's present integration into DCS. However, I think the F-5 has a place. It's both a ground and air combat aircraft, it already has a perfect companion module in the MiG-21, it can be used in an aggressor role in the Nevada map, and is applicable to the Strait of Hormuz. It's used by many air forces. On top of that, it will provide an outlet for all those Top Gun MiG-28 fantasies, later this year ;) As a weapon of the United States, yes it's a limited choice, and it has limitations more generally for BVR combat, precision strike - it's a basic fighter. But I think there's plenty of merit in including it. On a personal note, as with the MiG-21, I feel a sense of accomplishment in taking the underdog into a fight and beating a more capable opponent!
  9. So for someone looking to upgrade from a lesser joystick (x52), and wanting a VKB for its quality - I will need to wait for the gunfighter. But do you think I will be able to specify it to come with a Cobra M5 grip? Itd be really expensive to have to buy a Warthog or even simply a full Cobra M5, just to get a grip with two hats..

    DCS: F-5E!

Me too. The price ($50-$60) is extremely fair considering the investment in time and resources. Each module is a package item, which with the addition of a free map (or paid), becomes its own simulation. A very accurate simulation, with fully reslised system and dynamics accuracy. That price keeps it in the range of what people find acceptable to spend on entertainment software, whearas its true value would be in the hundreds.

    DCS: F-5E!

Ha, that's quite alright ;) im all too familiar with NDA's, myself.

    DCS: F-5E!

Sounds like you are perhaps testing it BIGNEWY.. ;) ?
  13. Aren't Leatherneck developing terrain to go with the Viggen? If they were planning to release the terrain and aircraft together, they'd have to wait for the 2.5 merge. But I'm speculating.
  14. Do people get stuttering when the simulation is paused? I noticed mine are only apparent when the simulation is running, when I pause it an use trackIR to pan around, I get no stuttering at all.
  15. Interesting, I didn't realise the updater did an integrity check, this was one feature I thought might be for the Steam version alone, so that's good to know. Thanks again for your tool, I've had my fair share of stutter issues, stuttering still remains when panning mouse/trackIR around, which I think is common. It'd be interesting to hear from the Dev's about the stuttering issues being addressed and what might be causing them.
  16. How have people's experiences been with the tool? Any idea about the size pre and post usage? How will updates to dcs affect the unzipped folders? Is there a function to repackage? Thanks for your hard work! Anything to help stutters is a good thing
  17. Is there currently a forest shadow removal mod for Nevada?
  18. To clear inventory for what? ;) Something to do with the Thrustmaster product launch on the 4th of May?
  19. EDIT: Rectified the issue below - I made sure I zeroed out the CameraFloat(t) numbers. Thanks SkateZilla and VBDJT_Viper, I've tried both suggestions, but I'm having trouble getting the effect to work. Basically, both after enabling Shift+J by default, and after copy+pasting the "Airshow Camera Shake" code I get the following: The camera position itself moves in big sweeping arcs, but the aircraft stays smooth and central in the frame. Any idea why this is happening?
  20. Does anyone know how to achieve the handheld camera effect used by the Virtual Blue Angels? It's convincing in giving the footage a realistic quality, and I'd like to achieve it with the F3 flypast view. [ame] [/ame]
  21. Yes, similar experience with trackIR in cockpit. It might have something to do with the fact there is pretty significant screen tearing with vsync off. More than what I would typically see in other game engines (my experience, at least). Turning vsync on does a good job at smoothing things out, but not entirely. It might also have something to do with content loading as you move your view around in the frame. It's frustrating how challenging it is to get buttery smooth visuals, especially with a really high framerate - in the framerate department, EDGE is fantastic.
  22. Excellent selection, thanks very much VJS161_Fire, just what I was looking for.
  23. Can anyone recommend any good books on the F/A-18? Is there a definitive book, similar to Bye Bye Baby for the F-14, or Sled Driver, for the SR-71?
  24. That's terrific news Bourrinopathe, I look forward to seeing what they have for us. Fingers crossed it's a high end hotas.
  25. That sentence caught my eye. Where did you hear about this?
