Aegean Map, and why it makes sense….. A Strategic, Mythic & Geopolitical Battleground w here NATO forces clash constantly. Martin “Anir” Zabel A pledge…. Since this are the Balkans and if anything we can all be selectively as well as collectively stupid and hotheaded, speaking as one, I would like to ask all involved members from these countries to be positive. Pledge out Executive Summary What is the Aegean map and why does it make sense for DCS? Featured are: Hellas. Turkey. Bulgaria. North Macedonia. Albania. A tip of Italy. A map with the approximate size as depicted would involve only NATO members but is still a hot zone ideal for DCS with countless opportunities for military scenarios. It has everything we need in excess. A big archipelago dividing two major countries with the 2nd and 3rd biggest armies in NATO and airforces using most assets available to the Player base. The archipelago is scattered with thousands of islands of harsh terrain giving plenty of masking opportunities. A separation of both land and sea borders with one land border being a river crossing where over 8.000 vehicles from tanks to IFV’s will fight under heavy artillery cover. 6. Tactical Depth Naval ops in narrow passages Island airbases and SAM coverage Carrier ops near Crete or Rhodes S300, S400, HAWK, Patriot, and Turkish Hisar air defenses 7. Available Assets Use of existing DCS modules: F-16. F-4. M2K. F35. F1. F5. Mi24. Su25. Mig29 Mig21. Mig15. UH1. Apache. Mi8. Kiowa. No need for new aircraft to enjoy the map 8. Possible Campaign Ideas "Phantom Over the Aegean" (Cold War) "Interception Protocol" (Modern border patrol escalating) "Operation Poseidon's Edge" (Hypothetical RED vs BLUE invasion) Blue Flag/Iniochos training campaign 9. Benefits to DCS Ecosystem New visual aesthetics (whitewashed towns, rocky islands. A non Red clash between Blue on Blue Forces.) Unique missions blending air/naval/terrain ops Huge interest from the Greek, Turkish, and broader NATO DCS community Greece (Hellenic Air Force - HAF) Souda Air Base (LGSA) – Crete Key NATO air base, often used by US and allied forces. Hosts F-16s, MQ-9s, and refueling ops. Andravida Air Base (LGRD) – Western Peloponnese Home of the HAF F-4E Phantoms, recently transitioning to Rafale training and exercises. Araxos Air Base (LGRX) – Western Greece Former nuclear-capable base, operates F-16s. Tanagra Air Base (LGTG) – Central Greece Now hosting Greece’s Rafale fleet. Strategic due to its proximity to Athens. Larissa Air Base (LGLR) – Thessaly Major transport and recon base, houses MQ-9s, C-130s, sometimes F-16s. Nea Anchialos Air Base (LGBL) – near Volos Base for F-16s. Elefsis Air Base (LGEL) – near Athens Main transport hub of the HAF. Kastelli Air Base (LGTL) – Crete (under construction for F-35s) Will replace Heraklion in the near future. Turkey (Turkish Air Force - TuAF) Balıkesir Air Base (LTBF) North of the Aegean, formerly nuclear-capable. Bandırma Air Base (LTBG) Used for F-16 operations, logistics support. Çiğli Air Base (LTBL) – Near İzmir Training and transport, could be activated for operations. Akhisar Air Base (LTBT) Near the western Turkish coast, supports rotary-wing aircraft. Dalaman Airport (LTBS) Civilian/military mixed-use, could be used as a forward operating base. Italy (Aeronautica Militare – Italian Air Force) Only the Apulia region (Puglia) is in view — specifically the “heel” of Italy: Gioia del Colle Air Base (LIBV) Hosts Eurofighter Typhoons. Often used in NATO southern flank operations. Amendola Air Base (LIBA) Hosts Italian F-35A and MQ-9 drones. Crucial for ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) missions. Galatina Air Base (LIBN) – Near Lecce Training base for M-346s but can host other assets during crises. Bulgaria Graf Ignatievo Air Base Near Plovdiv. Main fighter base. Hosts MiG-29s (transitioning to F-16V in the near future). ICAO: LBPG Bezmer Air Base Near Yambol. Su-25 operations, tactical support. ICAO: LBIA Dolna Mitropoliya Air Base Near Pleven. Training base. Light aircraft and cadet training. ICAO: LBPL Vrazhdebna (Sofia International) Shares military facilities, limited military use. ICAO: LBSF NMKNorth Macedonia Petrovec Air Base (Skopje International Airport) ICAO: LWSK Previously operated Mi-24 and An-2. Now mainly transport and rotary support (Bell 206/212, Cougar). Albania Kucova Air Base (Kuçovë) Being refurbished as NATO tactical air base. Previously MiG-19/21 base. ICAO: LAKV Farka Air Base Rotary-wing and support. Close to Tirana. No IATA/ICAO – military heliport. Rinas (Tirana International Airport) Dual-use. ICAO: LATI NAVAL BASES Greece Souda Bay (Crete) – NATO’s crown jewel in the East Med Deep-water naval base, U.S. Navy & Hellenic Navy presence. Refueling, maintenance, intelligence operations. Runway + pier = strategic reach over MENA, Suez, Eastern Med. Salamis Naval Base (near Athens) Main Hellenic Navy base. Shipyard and logistics hub. Historical continuity, still highly active. Amfiali (Piraeus area) Auxiliary support for Salamis. Naval Base of Skaramangas (Western Attica) Also shipbuilding/maintenance capacity. Aktio/Naval Air Station (Preveza, Ionian Sea) Air/naval surveillance role. Turkey Aksaz Naval Base (Aegean Sea, near Marmaris) One of Turkey's strongest western bases. Major fleet HQ, extensive submarine activity. Gölcük Naval Base (Sea of Marmara) Turkish Navy command center. Key logistics + dockyard. Vulnerable to earthquakes. Foça Naval Base (near İzmir) Submarines and special forces (SAT/SAS). Close to Greek isles = tension hotspot. Iskenderun / Mersin Ports (East Med) Supports Turkish Navy in the Levant. Sinop (Black Sea, older Soviet-watching base) Italy Taranto Naval Base (Southern Italy) Italy’s main naval HQ. Submarines, carriers, support ships. Albania Pasha Liman Naval Base (Vlorë) Former Soviet/Warsaw Pact base. Now under modernization with NATO support. Durres Port Civilian/military dual use. Has NATO logistical interest. I hope ED or one of its associated corps will take the opportunity and give us this gem. DCS AEGEAN.odt

Massun92´s Asset Pack - Official (update march 2024)
ineth replied to Massun92's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Maybe a destroyed Shelter or other destroyed buildings would rock. Also a new kind of bridge would rock. Maybe even a Ferries wheel like the one there is in Batumi in real life. As for vehicles.... Hovercrafts and other landing ships. Have an amazing day Hermano. Martin Zabel- 523 replies

New, if you want old i dont get it, we want the best long range striker and probably our only one to be an older version? For what? as i said before, i got no interest for this one really but i will get it to support the team that brought me wonderfull modules in the past hopine that they will work at one point in the M2k5.
-
OK Solved. S button did not work as quoted so i dug out some old rudders i had and put em on. Once i got the rudders on suddently the keyboard command for steering plus stick kicked in too. I am out of words here. I did not use the rudders for a year and it might had been some kind of hiden coflict. Go figure. Anyways. Tnx guys

Yeah absolutely. i get this from cold start. i thought i might have missed smt in the procedure. I maybe ought to had mentioned that i fly with sims since 1977 so i am kinda seasoned. Its the silly stuff, it allways is. isn't it?
-
have to check. i am currently reading this through my cellphone from work tnx man.

Pretty silly but still bugging me.. I cant use the noswheel on the M2000. i use the s button witch is bind by default and the bind stick button. The front wheel does not turn. Simple as that. I hope you got an idea on how to fix this cause its a shame for the money i spend on the module. Thanks for your time have a great day.

http://www.nmusafvirtualtour.com/full/tour-std.html I found this and i think it looks awesome. Would be nice if DCS could put it on FB to for others to see. Have fun all

i had huge issues too till i got https://fr-fr.facebook.com/116514731700204/videos/1104073232944344/ It is the DCS update utility by skatezilla. I am not to say that it was faster, but it got the job done where i had a problem with the conection being droped serverside on the last few bytes again and again and again.........
-
I sure hope so. Hormuz straights sounds a good idea historicaly at least. Though if you have flown EF2000 you will know that there is probably no better theater then Scandinavia.

While i am not a big fan (yet) of WWii planes i think we own it for historical reassons to include WWii planes like the Sturmovic and the Zero. Especially the Zero. But what we have ZERO of and is definetly needed is Heavy Birds like any transporter or AWACS-Refueler. This leaves open the topic of multicrew capabilities even though i feel it is way to fresh to talk about any such topic in detail due to the highly specialized nature of those roles. But.... WWii Bombers..... now that would be the multicrew planes of my choice. After all the easiest thing to ask from anyone to do is sit in a cannon tower and shoot the living shit out of things comming in your direction.
-
My guess is that with all that panspermy of planes out we ought to see sooner or later maps of Viet Nam and Korea too. In 10 years from now DCS will be the crown jewel of the crown jewel of Flight sims.
-
Both should get you where you want to be, from there i guess it is mostly GPU what makes the difference in performances. That being said i would like to add since both cover your needs in DCS try to get the better one for your other gaming needs. As i said. DCS seems to be covered either way.

Probably millions. Us who print a Yellow pages sized Quick Guide till we get to the minivan sized manuals are probably under 100k

Well i guess we all thought at one point in time of having a full blown military simulation where everyone would participate on the battlefield. Others as infantry, others as artilery, flight, vehicle or tank simulation and the likes. Unfortunately we have to realise that this would also mean to make it anything else then a smash arena and give it a sense of realism it would also need a strategic part where players as officers would assign ermmmmm assignments and i am uncertain what it would look like if not everyone did his part. THis would make sense if there was a multiserver kinda state with a level of proggresion according with the way a player is playing rather then the actual performance. On a big scale this would draw the same attention if not more as the good old game HARPOON did having been introduced as a learning tool in Annapolis. WHat we need to keep in mind though is that DCS is a small company and we need to stick with it hoping that smt in a small scale of pure awesomnes will arise in a few decades, plus it would need a server probably bigger then the CCP EVE Online mammoth that is designed to hold as many as one million players concurrently. (Only saw about 70.000 though at the same time) cheers

I mentioned a another jewel of past days aviation but it struck no response. I will throw in this wonderfull picture and let that image do the talking for me. http://photo.net/learn/airshow/images/geebee.jpg

Well besides the actuall modules involved that pose a certain appeal to all flight enthusiasts i really feel that the concentrated formations on land and air would make a really challenging and interesting experience. Oddly enough when i think of such a game i am not thinking of spectacular colored graphics that would challenge my fxcard but sepia colored environment and modules with immense detail. I do not feel that flying such a plane would be anywhere as difficult as some 50s jetplanes but delivering bombs and strafing would certainly be very hard to do. Imagine pulling out the safety pin of a mortar shell and simply throw it overboard on enemy lines while you get shot at from the soldiers having to keep an eye out for zeppelins and their ropes plus the uncasual fellow pilot looking for a fast kill. I really feel that a WWI gaming enviroment should be in Sepia though as a WWII should be in black and white. If not as a standard, at least optional.

Hello friends I see we get graced with allot of new modules to fly with, and while i see there is allot of fun in flying the more challenging planes of older times i think i had an idea i would love to share with you. World War One planes. They should be allot easier to model and they had only the very crudest of mechanics available, plus they would be very straightforward to fly and fight with and off course the historical value would be extraproportional. Also since they had very limited range a dedicated map for them would be pretty easy to create too. It is not only the planes though. We would be able to fly through zeppelins, do straffings on trains and do primitive bombing and allot more. On a second thought i would love to see old fashioned air races with Gee Bee's too. What do you think?

Why aren't there today any real good joysticks?
ineth replied to FlightControl's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I wonder where this came from. I find that today out there there is a huge selection of wonderfull sticks tbh. I remember the day the closest i had for HOTAS was two joysticks pluged in to my amiga, for F16 combat pilot from digital integrations. So basic. -
Well it would kinda rocks to have the posibility to make our own maps, but such a simple map as a preset would truly be good. I had a spinoff idea though. WW One planes. Did this ever came up?

i once had a talk with a technician that was working on the Prowlers. From what i understood the prowlers at least were not designed to blind specific targets but had more of an area effect, then i remembered an incident that took place while i was serving in Greek army at 1990. It was just as the first gulf war kicked in. We saw very dimm lights on the evening sky comming from very high altitude to our direction. It looked like a swarm of warplanes using only the War Ops lights. At the same time below it entire areas of city squares went dark. When it approached our bearings we lost all power and even our radios had issues, we had to go in a backup mode to make em work again. Once the lights dissapeared lights came back again. This was pretty spooky. I have learned to respect technology that night. On a side note i remember him saying that he found it very odd about how they did manage to provide the needed power for EWAR on the smaller F18s.

Hey guys. I decided to upgrade from the original version of DCS i downloaded 2 months ago to the 1.5 and then 2.0. So far so good. Here is the issue though. I should be able to see the installed modules and modules i wish to download from the module manager panel. This appears blank to me. I can see my allready installed modules at the bottom but i cannot get the Module for the F15C i purchased and the Web Page does not offer direct download anymore. The real question here is. Is there any other way to get the modules so i can activate them normaly in game like we used too? I would reinstall the entire DCS from scratch but i am alowed to use only10gigabytew per month via LTE and this would kinda be killing me. Technical support did its best but it autoclosed since downloading the 2.0 killed my available download for some weeks and now i should start everything from scratch petition wise. So this i am asking for is more or less a shortcut. I am really sorry for bothering you all with this. Hope you can help.
