  1. What is the difference between these two? I'm a little confused. https://www.shapeways.com/product/UBB8WRU3A/warthog-throttle-part-afterburner-detent-with-0?optionId=66710386 https://www.shapeways.com/product/3MJPNE2SV/warthog-throttle-part-afterburner-detent?optionId=63799442 I have the latter by the way, and absolutely swear by it.
  2. Come on, showing your ignorance here. It doesn't suffer from pitch instability, it's designed with pitch instability on purpose. Stability and maneuverability are inversely related. This is why the stabs are moving so much, they are providing artificial stability to the pilot. Roll rate was not really on display. Looks like it rolls plenty fast to me even still.
  3. This is great news. This has been one of my few complaints about my VKB products thus far... I feel like a guinea pig when an updated/fix version of a device is sold months after I receive mine. I think this will really help improve quality.
  4. Don’t do that. Stick controls AOA. Power controls glideslope.
  5. Sokol, do you not think 767A will be too viscous? Because the dampers are already have significant surface contact, I worry that 767A would not permit fine damping. The nylon clamps already provide the necessary damping/friction, the gel just needs to help us avoid sticking. What do you think? 59F9qUDNwnQ
  6. Thank you for sharing your experience, Rik! I've wanted to do that but haven't had the guts to try it yet.
  7. In other news, water reportedly wet...
  8. You haven't needed say more this entire thread.
  9. Amazing, what is it like to an enlightened genius? You seem like such an agreeable person, probably a real joy to be around.
  10. So true. It's the ability to create the whole system that is difficult. Even more difficult is to create such a complete system with greater mass of force than an opponent's, if for no reason other than resources.
  11. Mustang that looks beautiful! I wish ED would just hire you at this point.
  12. You vastly over-estimate the readiness of AI to handle the complexity of employing a multirole fighter. Get ready to see UAVs as dumb, missile-launching wingmen. Also the Navy doesn't have a "fighter mafia." That's some Air Force stuff. Among other reasons, Navy fighter pilots are universally strike fighter pilots.
  13. Rik - yes, but only very little, otherwise I get too much friction/"sticktion." I have noticed that even if it's subtle, it does make a positive difference.
  14. Thoughtful response, as usual Sokol. HOTAS functionality is what matters most to me, at least. If I just wanted more buttons, I have a keyboard for that. If I want more switches, I could buy a switch box.
  15. I'm sorry, but this statement is so dumb it made me laugh out loud. The Warthog currently is the gold standard for flight sim HOTAS throttles. Other than being a contrarian (which you're doing admirably,) I don't think anyone can disagree. If the T-50 throttle has as many or more controls as the Warthog throttle, it will be able to perform as well as the Warthog throttle in simulating a variety of airplanes. Combined with superior construction, that would make it a superior throttle. If it has superior construction, but reduced features, it will not be able to simulate as many airplanes, and to those who do not exclusively fly a non-existent T-50 simulator, it will be an inferior throttle. This is logic that children understand. Except that nobody thinks the X56 is better than the Warthog for simulating modern combat aircraft. This is a worthless hypothetical. I'm convinced that you're just here to argue, because you're posting nonsense and ignoring the obvious.
  16. These unnecessarily dismissive replies are getting old, but they're not going to drown out all the people who want a mini-stick. I haven't seen anyone say they want this to be just like a Warthog throttle. They want it to be equally as functional as a Warthog throttle. In fact, by your own admission, that's what you want also: you want a mini-stick. (Which is the only change I would require, as stated.) How fortunate we are to be able to feel that way! However, I want this to replace my Warthog AND be it's own device. No, we just want a better throttle. You can take A-10C out of the equation. We want something that can handle all jets (and most props,) not just the A-10C, and not just the T-50 (which is not simulated anywhere and won't be for many years to come.) The Warthog throttle just happens to be a very feature-rich and capable design, and nobody wants to lose features in the process of buying a more expensive device.
  17. I'm interested in your throttle to replace my aging Warthog throttle, but until you show us some pictures of the internal mechanism and clarify your intentions regarding a mini-stick, I won't buy it. Do you intend to make the mini-stick a purchasable modification?
  18. This thread has no solid information or careful discussion in it. It's just a good example of how badly people want to see their country look good and the other country look bad. Nationalism is back, baby.
  19. I don't think I can afford this without thumbstick at that price. Is this made with fiber-reinforced plastic?
  20. Or, put your money into a higher-quality product, and avoid the trouble.
  21. Sea Control Wings have been disestablished since around '09... but I guess today's closest equivalent is the Patrol and Reconnaissance Wings (P-8s), specifically in line with their newest addition, VUP-19, the Navy's first unmanned squadron. I don't see that happening, though, since their background is Maritime aviation (P-3,) rather than tailhook. The use of the existing buddy pod is a current requirement of the RFP. That's easy. LO and growth capacity is how the companies will be competing. I don't see how you can turn that into a complaint. Compatibility now, capability for the future. 15000 lbs at 500nm. Yes, if you're imagining the max fuel capacity of the Rhino that sounds like a small number, but that's not how fuel conservation in a jet works. That tanker can definitely serve more than 2 jets, because it will do so at altitudes where fuel burn is significantly reduced. Set a division of tankers at close range to top off tanks after launch and climb, and another division closer to threat to further extend range. At the end of the day, saving strike jets for strike is a huge benefit regardless of the finer details of the platform that relieves them. Launch and recovery cycles with 5-wet configurations is an airframer's waking nightmare.
  22. That's for Public Affairs Officers, man. Not pilots.
  23. It's just tradition, started before the advent of GoPros. The Ball videos are made to be shown at a literal ball... a traditional Navy "dining-out" event. Rules about recording footage are slowly closing in, so you may see less videos in the future. Here's hoping that's not the case, since the videos serve as an excellent recruiting tool.
