No major issues IMO with the over-wing vapes, if a little melodramatic and out of place in the desert. The wingtip vapes on the other hand, look silly. Those need to stop happening around 15-20 alpha, at low speed or high sideslip, with AIM-9s on the wingtip LAUs, or significant negative aileron deflection. In any of those conditions, wing lift is spoiled significantly, particularly at the wingtips. The update really helped make them look more reasonable, but some additional logic to when they disappear is needed.

This thread is officially miserable.

Seriously. Thanks to both of you gentlemen for the input. Good to hear the real radars don't have issues with gimbal rate.
-
Real quick to state the obvious, thanks guys. If you take off with flaps AUTO, however, you’ll get that pitch integrator wind-up every time. I’m helping Laithar corroborate his finding. Believe me, it’s a bug.
-
That one has nothing to do with the cat... it's a repeatable bug with a flaps AUTO takeoff. If you cycle the flaps below 250, the pitch wind-up will stop. Definitely an error in the code.

I think I have the same thing, I actually like it. It lets me know exactly where center is but it doesn't interrupt the smooth movement at all. My best guess is that you're feeling the change in load from one side of the cam to the other.
-
It is definitely bulkier. One of the most shocking things when you're up close, though, is how differently everything is shaped. Everything is smooth and blended on a stealth jet, and it doesn't feel like you're standing next to a fighter jet. More like a spaceship. That, and the weapons bays are huge.
-
Sorry, I've stood under one of their wings, it's not that big. Not much bigger than a Viper. Definitely smaller than a Rhino.

Thank you so much! Amazing that the company selling it doesn't want to show internals. That and their payment options are the reason I didn't buy one.

Let us shoot pilots out of the sky after they eject

What a contribution this thread is. Equal parts sad and obnoxious. Can't come up with a better request? -
Su-57 was necessary when the Russians had Su-35s ?
aaron886 replied to blackadam's topic in Military and Aviation
So is this just a thread where you shout into the wind about how American stealth fighters aren't that great and Russia is the best? The more you shout, the less confident you seem. Playground logic. "We don't need stealth jets, we never even wanted stealth jets, stealth is a myth. We were just kidding when we spent 700 billion rubles on the Su-57." -
There is no 20, he meant 10. That said, a 20 cam is something MANY of us have asked VKB for. The 30 is too much and the 10 is too little. The W cam is almost right for the MCG Pro but still too much.

DCS Yak-52 Advanced Spins and Inverted Performance Review
aaron886 replied to AcroGimp's topic in DCS: Yak-52
Fantastic. I hope ED can make some corrections with this constructive feedback! -
I see it as well. The prop generates "jello" even when I'm getting 45Hz locked. You and I have very similar systems.

Pitching down moment due to flap deflection...
aaron886 replied to Anatoli-Kagari9's topic in DCS: Yak-52
Nobody has bothered to ask one of the real Yak pilots around here if the pitch moment is realistic. Everyone just wants it changed because it inconveniences them. -
I have a joystick extended from the floor, it doesn't fix the problem. For what it's worth, I naturally adapted to the flap pitch moment with forward pressure the way I would in a real airplane. Most small airplanes have an appreciable change in pitch moment with flaps that must be anticipated and compensated for, so I really didn't find this "wrong" in any way. Yo-Yo, am I correct in understanding that all calculations in the Yak are stick-fixed? Would using hinge moments help with damping at higher speeds?

MyButtons Yak-52 - Additional 2/3 Position Switches

This is great, thank you! Saves me a lot of time. One day maybe ED will implement release actions and allow double binds so that this work isn't necessary. -
[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
aaron886 replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
f4l0, I was able to get SSA working again after a re-install. It seems a little touchy though. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. What's the purpose of the Generic Jet/Prop Settings? I haven't seen SSA work with any module that isn't specifically built in, so I get no feedback when flying the Yak, even generic. -
Edit: late post, I'll leave it anyway. Sorry for the redundancy. Gimp - By way of attempting to help ease the language barrier, Yo-Yo is not disagreeing with the real-world effect you're referring to. It's true, as air load increases, level flight coordinated rudder direction usually reverses. However this is due to the fixed rudder trim tab (or other airframe design choices like canted thrust-line.) You probably already know this, but to alleviate any confusion, the fixed rudder trim tab is set to reduce left/right-turning tendencies of the airplane at cruise (or most commonly flown) airspeeds. This means the pilot needs less rudder inputs at speeds he usually flies. Of course, as airspeed increases beyond the set point, dynamic pressure on the trim tab increases, and it becomes too effective, resulting in the reversal of required rudder input. What Yo-Yo is saying is that the DCS:Yak-52 currently does not implement the fixed trim tab in its early access state. Once that is implemented and adjusted for neutral rudder at 200kph, I think you'll find that the airplane will exhibit that reversal. Great thread though, thank you for providing some Yak user insights. I hope threads like this can result in productive changes to the DCS Yak!

Wow, why can't it use an extension?

[HOW TO] Switching grips on the GunFighter
aaron886 replied to 33-DFTC's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
The zip you downloaded with firmware for KG12, MCG, and MCG Pro contains the firmware for all 3 devices, but in separate .vkb files. You can only have one firmware installed at a time, so you'll have to flash it each time you switch grips. Not the quickest process, but could be worse. If the software is confusing you, try using the WIZZO software instead. It's significantly easier to use but still has access to the bootloader (advanced settings button) so you can flash and calibrate a new grip. -

The best answer I have is... sometimes? Earlier in my testing, it worked fine, although I felt no vibration. Now, it says I have no active simulator connection. 00:48:31.866 SimShaker for Aviators Version 1.3.0.0 00:48:31.871 ********** DCS World Open Beta version folder found in Saved Games ********** 00:48:31.873 DCS.openbeta export feature setup: SimShaker.lua added to C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts 00:48:31.873 DCS.openbeta export feature setup: ExportCore.lua added to C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\SimShaker-export-core 00:48:31.874 DCS.openbeta export feature setup: ExportDevice.lua added to C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\SimShaker-export-core 00:48:31.874 DCS.openbeta export feature setup: KeyValueStore.lua added to C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\SimShaker-export-core 00:48:31.875 DCS.openbeta export feature setup: Network.lua added to C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\SimShaker-export-core 00:48:31.875 DCS.openbeta export feature setup: Protocol.lua added to C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\SimShaker-export-core 00:48:31.876 local SimShakerlfs=require('lfs'); dofile(SimShakerlfs.writedir()..'Scripts/SimShaker.lua') call found in C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\Export.lua 00:48:31.877 dofile(lfs.writedir()..[[scripts\SimShaker-export-core\ExportCore.lua]]) call found in C:\Users\aaron\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts\Export.lua -

Hello f4l0, I installed the new version as prompted, and now get nothing from my JetSeat in DCS. Before starting DCS, I can run the motor test just fine, but once the game starts I get no vibration. I can see the experimental test screen showing the effects that should be playing, and the debug screen shows the correct model type and plenty of live data. I also have Tacview installed but I do not intend to uninstall it. -
There is not. You shouldn't be feeling that much deadzone though, I would double check your axis settings and calibration. If you have the program DIView, use that to make sure you're getting good precision about center. With my VKB Gunfighter I can see a response from the Hornet with barely a millimeter's movement on the top of the stick.
