  1. Nice one - I don’t have android so can’t test it but like the looks of it
  2. The inside story isn’t just a reading book, it does go into technical descriptions, it just depends on how deep you’d like. I was actually surprised how good it was and in conjunction with the warbird tech series found I had good coverage. However, agree, the Hornet book wise hasn’t received anything like F-15 Eagle Engaged - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2355301.F_15_Eagle_Engaged
  3. At the moment I use the SA page with displays the waypoint as well as where the TGP is looking. That way you can slew it to the WP - not perfect but provides some level of what we’re looking for
  4. Hornet: The inside story of the F/A-18 by Orr KellyIs good (as noted above). Also the warbird tech series - volume 31 covers the Hornet
  5. Yep it’s definitely good - first saw it in the F-14B from HB
  6. Got the same thing here - got to be a windows 10 update???
  7. I had to also give it a go with the hornet: 20Kt headwind, some turbulence thrown in (thus the bobbing as I get closer to the runway), 1500lbs fuel, anti skid off.
  8. From what I’ve been told (by a former Hornet driver) is that it has very good brakes. I had noted last week that the braking power seemed to be worse as of late (couldn’t pin point the build when it started) but I don’t often use it on land so it could have happened a while back.
  9. Seeing the mossie fly in NZ was one of my most favourite moments in an air show (ever), can still see and hear it as it was beating up the airfield at the end of the show Mosquito & Spitfire Formation by Oesau, on Flickr
  10. Have to say that I’m still loving PointCTRL, I just don’t fly VR without and have even noticed I’ve stopped using some of my other input devices (saitek panels) as it’s just so much easier to use my hands in VR.
  11. I posted on the other thread but it seems like the problem is gone now (for me at least)
  12. Well it seems like it’s no longer happening to me any more after the latest OB release...
  13. MilesD - don’t see the mission attached?
  14. Provided feedback to MilesD - personally I’ve found the calibration with the latest firmware to be a good improvement on the previous version. I’d found the first approach difficult and never really got it to work well for me so a big thanks to MilesD for the update. One point I also raised and worth sharing is within the calibration step 7 where you point to the cursor: left, right, top, bottom. I had originally thought that there would also be a cursor moving with the FCU movement but in fact, it doesn’t which confused me. It actually makes sense that it doesn’t as it’s about aligned where your hands think they are pointing to. Regardless - Miles is going to update this in the manual.
  15. Great news MilesD - l'm happy to test if you need more people
  16. As I watched that video I was thinking "sure hope that gets addedd to VAICOM"!
  17. Send it through Miles - happy to test it and provide feedback
  18. Doh... was focused on the calibration steps and missed that new section.. thanks Miles!
  19. I've had the chance to use PointCTRL over the weekend and have to say its been great with it adding an additional level of immersion to the VR experience. I really like not having to reach for the mouse and just reach out with my hands to flip switches. As Miles has noted, I had some feedback on the calibration steps which I admit I had found "challenging" to setup at first, but after a few goes I got it working. Miles is working towards a GUI in the future that will assist with calibration however for now the improved instructions will get you up and running. My setup is with the warthog on the desk in front of me, something I am going to update with a desk mount in the near future. I do find sometimes with the stick forward of my hands that the stick can mask the FCU (think lower central panels such as the weapons control on the P-51D or ECM on the Hornet). The way around this is just to tilt the head to the side a little more which is a natural thing you would do in RL. Clearly this isn't an issue with PontCTRL, but a user setup one and not a big one either but thought I'd mention it. So far - really enjoying it and a big round of applause to Miles for bring this device to the market! I'll write more of my experiences as I continue to use it.
  20. MilesD - Couple of questions: 1 - The mouse wheel button, does that work as a single click to turn in one direction or is there a hand rotation component to it. I've been having challenges with the Hornets wing-fold lever that requires a wheel turn to lock/unlock it. I can only seem to move it in one direction and then can't return it to fold the wings down. 2 - sensitivity of using FCU buttons #1/2 to turn rotating knobs such as baro pressue or the Hornets UFC radio channels selection controls. It's very sensitive and I find with the radio's channel selections that it's very difficult to set the correct ones. 2 - Zoom Function - has that been implemented yet, or was that a future feature to be added?
  21. Deadlyfishes - Saw your post in the other thread which you linked above. I've got a different setup from you where i am using the TMWH Stick/Throttle & MFG Crosswind Rudder pedals. I use a profile that adds more DirectX controls to the throttle and it appears as a combined input device. I've tried remapping the throttles left/right (which is how I have them setup), manually adding the axis for the rudder but none of it works. The only sure way for me to get this to work is to delete the input config folder (in the saved game folder) and then re-add the inputs (using saved profiles) every time I start DCS and want to fly the F-14B. To say it's annoying is an understatement but I still have no other way to get around this.
