  1. Hello on my side i get some random stutter with open xr ( rift ) i stay on native occulus api for now ( i will Check open xr sometime in futur )
  2. Hello, As already said in some threads, it's very useful for low or middle power machine Try with a GTX 1080 and you'll see differences Your machine doesn't need this tips.
  3. Peut être Autoriser les appli inconnues dans occulus ( dcs n’est pas dans le store occulus )
  4. Slt, "You need to run DCS on a monitor first. Them go to settings, VR tab, and activate VR headset" Coté DCS, il faut activer la VR dans les settings DCS, puis restart DCS
  5. Sure, actually I cannot retrieve an old thread about using FXAA in VR ( it worked .. ), should be better to retrieve this old thread instead to create another.
  6. Hello, Could you try MSAA x2 or + NVCP "Enhance the application settings" + NVCP FXAA ? ( https://www.nvidia.com/content/Control-Panel-Help/vLatest/en-us/mergedProjects/nv3d/Tips_for_Setting_Antialiasing.htm ) Thanks
  7. Thanks The new Windows full screen mode may be not more exclusive ( sound volume is showed ) while giving good performances as FSE ( Microsoft new features , see blog ) I think we can remove the alt-tab topic for now so we have 2 players that meet the same problem ( stutter and less smooth ) with the new fullscreen mode combined with v-sync ( 2D screen ) in dcs 2.8 full stock This last topic should be a new thread in 2D bug section : « fullscreen + vsync give stutters and not smooth » ( flappie could help us to check your system ) fortunately you have a work around ( FSE ) to play with DCS but this is not supported by DCS more ever i think
  8. The first test is to run dcs 2.8 full stock ( no mod ) in 2D with fullscreen on and v sync on 60hz ( dcs or Nvidia ) Art-j have some stutters when using v-sync Second test will be about alt-tab ( Check that dcs is still in fullscreen mode when returning to Game )
  9. Not surprised. The goal of the new windows 10 fullscreen mode is to give Maximum Framerates as good as ALT-ENTER FSE give to us ( see microsoft blog ) Could you do the same test with In-game V-Sync OFF an NV V-Sync ON ? For now, DCS 2.8 has stutters when V-SYNC is turned on on your rig. We need to find other player that meet this problem or ask to @flappie to help us about this problem.
  10. Hello, Maybe we should try to sum up about this subject in order to get a status on this thread ( @BIGNEWY ) I try to sum up: - ALT-ENTER ( FSE windows mode ) functionnality has disappear in DCS since few patchs ago - DCS has implemented the new FullScreen Windows 10 optimisation in replacement ( https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/demystifying-full-screen-optimizations/ ) ( it is the "fullscreen setting" checkbox in DCS and need to restart ) - Patch notes did not mentionned that FSE ( alt-enter) has been removed and player must turn on ‘full screen’ in settings - Some 2D players have encountered some performances or smooth problem since this date ( VR is out of scope in this thread ) - Some 2D players can get performance and smooth back as good as 2.7 by using the autoexec.cfg flipmode tips( ALT-ENTER ) - ALT-TAB focus gain on DCS 2.8 seems to not return to FullScreen Windows 10 optimisation whereas it is checked in DCS ( maybe a true bug ) Questions to answer: - Are the 2D players in this thread meet the performances problem just after restarting DCS with the new Fullscreen mode ? - Are the 2D players in this thread meet the performances problem just after ALT-TAB DCS focus gain ? Feel free to add some contributions... Thanks
  11. Hello I made more tests about using FSE in occulus VR And yes, quality seem lower with the autoexec.cfg FSE in VR occulus : My DCS msaa has allways been zéro but it looks like some AA technic is used with stock DCS 2.8 It will be interesting to know if 2D players can see a degraded quality with FSE too ( autoexec.cfg )
  12. Hello, Some people have tested with Occulus, It is very useful on mid - system My own test with Rift + 1080ti + i5-10600k - i can fly 90hz everywhere in my favorite test mission with OTT desktop resolution 800*600, - whereas i get 45hz over city without OTT So i use OTT desktop resolution 800*600 for now
  13. Yes I use every known tips about DCS ( you need them to use VR smooth for 4 years ) The main topic is that others players ( see Thread ) get better perf and smooth with Classic FSE: we need it
  14. Yes, The microsoft blog said there is an option to get the classic FSE if needed ( performances issues... ) So we tried to restore FSE in this thread ( for many reason ) and classic FSE seems to get better performances than the "new Windows 10 fullscreen optimisation" So an option or setting to re-enable the "alt-enter" feature could be very useful for many players ( 2D and Occulus VR )
  15. Hello, Maybe you could had "Occulus Home" as a third choice ? ( no OTT no Open XR... )
  16. Hello, I never has been using AA in VR on my side.. We need people to test in order to get pros and cons about ALT-ENTER, thanks For now, - ALT ENTER fix seem to be useful for 2D players ( and since many years ! ) - ALT ENTER fix seem to give better performances for VR Oculus Player but quality is affected ( missing some AA ) - ALT ENTER fix is not useful WMR player https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/demystifying-full-screen-optimizations/ Microsoft says that their new feature about full screen windowing give good result ,it seems it is not so good when testing DCS. Tests are better when using the Classic ALT-ENTER mode ( FSE ) Maybe DCS settings should allow to chose between Classic FSE and the new Windows 10 full screen optimisation in ordre to get the better experience. One next topic is about quality ( MSAA ) that some testers of this fix have reported (not working anymore in WMR )
  17. Hello, i have not noticed quality loose in my test ( i fly in VR only ), i will test about msaa Fullscreen mode is à Windows mode that let the program to use the full Power of the gpu for itself ( and not Sharing ressources with windows desktop ), nothing should be related to quality as decribed by Microsoft https://devblogs.microsoft.com/directx/demystifying-full-screen-optimizations/ A great deal of occulus user were used to use this windows mode ( for performances and confined cursor) until a récent patch Brooke this capability, but this mode helps in 2D too And thanks to this thread, a workaround exist !
  18. Hello i have tested reducing the desktop résolution in OTT in addition to ALT-ENTER: best result i could have for now in DCS such tips can only be used with occulus headset
  19. Hello, Maybe you should try Mirage F1 ? Flying this plane could give to you more sensations…( VR if possible )
  20. Hello, I have combined ott 800x600 résolution and Alt-Enter tips to get full screen mode ( see thread in VR bug section to get back this broken tips since few patch ) and it is the best DCS expérience that i have never has before : smooth, no ghost, 90hz in my test mission, no lose focus or cursor out, great so Many thanks for this thread
  21. dx11backend = { flipMode = false, } Be careful ! The black screen is one of my test results ( vsync off in DCS). The only way for me to get ALT-ENTER working in 2D is to use VSYNC ON into DCS I have not tested with nvidia vsync functionnality because i never had the need.
  22. Yes ! I read another hread about that and not tested yet ( perhaps you are the creator of the thread ) My first goal was to retrieve the 90hz experience i had before open beta 2.8 ( computing capabilities ) ALT-ENTER is an optimisation that we can benefit in front of new graphic functionnality added by DCS ( ask more computing ) We are using ALT-ENTER for many year to get the better of our rig, whatever the settings ( not seen shimering yet ). Then after we could change some settings Reduce Frequency may help to get better quality and smooth, true. I was used to set ASW to 30 or 45 when my GPU was not so powerful than now ( 1060 -> 1080ti ) I'll give a try with ASW 45 or ASW 30 in order to compare to my 90hz experience in the same mission Limiting FPS are done by some G2 users i know ( 60hz i believe ) in order to keep smooth and reduce some bad VR effects ( ghosting .. )
  23. Hello, i was speaking vsync option into DCS in my tests about alt-enter
  24. I suppose you are an occulus users ? I have not noticed lower quality yet ( 1.3 pixel density) the next missions i’ll fly will be done with fullscreen mode ( as for many years) and in 90 htz I will Check about that
  25. Let’s see what happen about oculus users ( my test ) or headset without WMR…
