    Black Shark 3?

Personally, I think the A-A switch is for the third A-A rail with the Iglas. Possible R-73 if the Russian are trying to mimic the Apache's and Cobra's abilities. I'm betting this same switch or something VERY similar to it is on the Ka-52 collective. Makes total sense to me. Fighter moving in on you. Hit A-A selector. Igla selected as weapon and Igla boresighted as SOI. Move the plane till small circle is over target and you hear high pitched lock tone. Uncage the Igla, and make sure the seeker head is now following the target. Fire. Hard dive for cover and outta there.
  2. Personally, I fail to see the need for an RWR. Heli's are Low Level Hell. Terrain should mask you from most radar. Only place you would need an RWR is up high in the clouds, and since you have no chaff, what are you going to do anyway? However, there is some speculation because of what has been read in certain tech docs on the internet, that the President-S may contain an RWR. Not really expecting it though for a heli. As for NVG"s, I don't see how they deal with a day scope (the EO guidance system of my Vhikers) that can't see S*#T at night.

    Black Shark 3?

I believe it is on Silver Dragon's DCS "to do" list. Let me see if I can find it. EDIT: I don't see it in there, but I do see Flak. I think it is probably going to come somewhere under the damage modeling. Here's the list if anyone wants to look at it. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=116893 xx
  4. Hmm, I would think it would be like the Aim-9, in that you get a strong tone over the target ( seeker is seeing it ) in a boresight mode, then uncage the seeker head, and let it track the target itself, unhindered. That is your "lock" right before launch.
  5. EXACTLY! No offense to ED, but is this is not what everyone was asking for. Mostly it's been FLIR, Iglas, and I think some people wanted RWR. Just look over the posts in the last 11 years, and it's all there! Considering that the Ka-52, which is what the prototype Ka-50 became, has all of this and FAR more, I don't see the problem. The President-S system is nice, and thank you!, but it's not what really needed or wanted. Without Igla and third pylon, which is what I need in Ka-50 because EO is SOOO bad, I won't be buying without that feature.

    Black Shark 3?

Yeah, I know. But like you say, it's by "unit". And the things I'm trying to lock are undamaged and perfectly healthy. The EO system in this sim is just screwed. It seems to be only able to lock ground targets, if that. I should be able to lock targets at about 7km out with ease. It gets where I can't even lock them at 2km, and their coming at me FAST! Especially Apaches. They're launching TOW at me from many km's out. They hit me with their 30mm from near their max range. I need iglas for a snap shot and then dive for cover, and hopefully evade them with low cover. I've got them in my sights, but I can't lock! Vhiker on AA is useless.
  7. Maybe we should switch to the Mi-8 as the new Attack Helicopter!

I agree with the Vhiker actually being a pretty good air to air missile, once you set it right. The problem is the SHKVAL. At least on my machine, it can't lock up any kind of aircraft! By the time you get a heli locked up, it's already gunned you down. I once tried to lock a heli up at range in the clear blue sky. Black copter on clear blue sky. Moving slow. Must have hit lock over 50 times with the gates over it. Nadah. Nothing. And standing there so long at hover, trying to lock it, you're just setting yourself up to be killed by something else. And FORGET fighters. You can't EVER lock those up. We need Iglas. BAD.
  9. Would be nice to get a fully modeled Su25T module for DCS. Would be the adversary for the A-10C.

    Black Shark 3?

Well, if that's the attitude, then I'm probably not buying. We need a modern copter. That means FLIR, Iglas on a third rail, President-S, maybe RWR. The current copter cannot survive a modern battlefield. The Ka-52 appears to even have millimeter wave radar. God knows what else. They built that thing to survive, and the Ka-50 is the prototype to it.

Have you ever tried to shoot down a heli with the Vihker? After hitting lock about 100 times, you might get a lock. Unfortunately, by that time, the other heli has already shot you down. Usually with it's guns, it's so close. That's why I consider the Shark to have NO air protection.

    Black Shark 3?

Well, if they put in an option to include the 3rd pylon, like on the Ka-52, and enable the A-A selection, I'll probably buy. If not, I probably won't. It's not worth giving up major ground attack ordnance just for air protection. I don't see the problem. To me, it's already a fantasy copter, since it was never really put into production.

    Black Shark 3?

Lol, this chopper was made for James Bond. And that's how I fly it. Screw the Fighters, full speed ahead! They should call it Little Nellie.

    Black Shark 3?

Hmm. Interesting. I didn't know that. I'll have to try to find info on that. Yandex might turn something up.
  15. Sorry about the autostart, but you should really learn to start it yourself. It's very easy compared to most of the other aircraft. A very good aircraft to learn basic start on.

And see, this is the problem. THIS COPTER WAS AN EXPERIMENT OVER MANY VARIATONS. IT WAS NEVER PRODUCED. Except as the Ka-52. The End Result. The Ka-52 is just a 2 seat version of what would have been the finished Ka-50. The Russians figured in the end, it was just too much for one person to handle. So, they added an extra seat. What I want is a FINISHED, PRODUCTION Ka-50. The cockpit controls point to a third pylon for Igla's (which is on the Ka-52. Go figure!). A-A. All the Experiments show they are interested in FLIR ( because it's really worthless without it ), like on the Ka52! Look at the Ka-52, chop off a seat, and there's your production Ka-50. Really tired of unproduced, experimental crap. Make the REAL Ka-50 as it was meant to be! Because either way, it's still a FANTASY copter. It was never produced! If it stays in this half finished, experimental state, I don't really know if I'll pay for an "upgrade" or not. And if you don't like doing that, then make a Ka-52! The only copter of this line that WAS produced!

And yet, on the Cyclic, the four way pylon selector switch shows an A-A only selection. And the way it's layed out, Inner-Outer-All-A-A, looks like it's meant to select a third pylon. Why would there be an all, if there wasn't a third pylon made for A-A only? All should only be used if your carrying four rocket pods. A-A looks like it's special, and meant to select the third pylon. Then, on the Ka-52, which appears to have the same wing stubs as the Ka-50, there is a third pylon. With the Ka-52 having come from the prototype of the Ka-50, it appears a modern Ka-50 would have 3 pylons on each wing, as it's just a single pilot version of the Ka-52. (Borrowing the pic of the cyclic from Fri13) The Ka-50 was just a prototype of the Ka-52, and never put into production. So, in order to see what it would have looked like had it been produced, you have to look at the Ka-52. The literal problem with what is "Real" is that this copter was never anything but an Experiment! That in the end, resulted in the Ka-52. Here you see an early Ka-52 with only 4 stations. And I swear I once had a pic showing a Ka-50 with the third pylon. Unfortunately, I can't find it now, as it was years ago. Probably was a mock up. But as you can see, Ka-50 and early Ka-52 were all just wild experiments. So, the most "Realistic" you can get as to what it probably would have ended up as, is the Production Ka-52, albeit a single seat.

The selector on the cyclic sure screams otherwise.

    Black Shark 3?

Yeah, Igla and that third pylon REALLY should have been there to begin with. But you have to admit, getting the MLWS is a very nice edition too, and will come in VERY handy when flying low near buildings. DAM THOSE PESKY STINGERS! That and having to take your hand off the cyclic to reach the $#&&!!!! flare button!
  20. THIS!
  21. Well, you have to understand that the Shark has been being fought over for 11 years now. I've been fighting to get igla's and a third pylon on it for those 11 years. Others for the MLWS. And a lot of us for FLIR. It's the module that has always felt so defenseless and incomplete. You can't even do night missions with it. AI copters smack it out of the air like it's nothing ( because you can't ever get a lock on them! )
  22. Yeah, never thought I would want it, but when your flying low, it might come in handy. That flare launch button is way up on the cockpit, and taking your hand off the cyclic to reach it is usually a no-go.
  23. Yeah, I'm against the subscription model as well, for now. Those things just never seem to pan out well.
  24. The reason I'm willing to pay for the BS upgrade, is that I and others have been bitching about how defenseless it is for the past ELEVEN YEARS. :p I'm finally getting at least most of what I've been wanting, so I guess I'll try and scrape up a few bucks for it. I think it should have been there all along ( just on the switches in the cockpit alone!), but the MLWS is a nice addition as well, making it more modern. My only gripe left is FLIR and a third pylon for Iglas like the Ka-52 has. *Cough* The switch is there for the third pylon! A-A! *Cough* IMO, the Ka-50 was the prototype for the Ka-52, and eventually morphed into it. It's basically just a two seat version of the Ka-50, so why shouldn't it be able to carry the weapons and defenses the Ka-52 can?
  25. Yeah, a good compromise for now. Just please add the FLIR turret, like on the Ka-50N, so we can do NIGHT MISSIONS as well. This copter is useless at night, at least for attack.
