I guess I got spoilt by it last year. I had flown the Jeff A LOT spring 2020 into summer then not so much until this spring. The pl5 used to be for me one of the best heat seekers around. Now not so much. But it definitely was user issues in firing from too far it seems from other opinions. (And I actually noticed someone get a kill with it when signing in GS yesterday)

Is there a negative effect to running the apu with the main engine anyways?

I get waxed every time when I go to attack the inner airfield. I get the anti armor plt and stop the armor counterattack. But I always get waxed by the AAA trying to move in. Obviously I'm trying to fly in racetrack pattern shooting a missile and turning around to run away and back in. But that damned AA always catches me and I can't dodge too much because I need to line up and stabilize for the at6. If I try a rocket attack I just get eaten alive by the combined mg fire from APCS tanks and AAA

Considering the point you make at the end I wonder what typical HIND crew casualties are in combat losses. I always think of that vid on youtube of the helo (from the gunners seat) in the Ukraine that gets downed. You hear gunfire at the end and I wonder if it's battlefield or the crew being shot

i was really young but i remember the absolute awe that lgbs were to the general public in desert storm. one really wonders how US society would view and how western players would play games if desert storm hadnt happened with all the footage of LGBs etc.

Thank God you put the skip mission thing in some missions are tough! Plus I like sticking with my results. Sometimes the mission isn't accomplished irl SPOILERS Miz 3 for example with the ambush

You know I was also thinking inspired by growling sidewinders Marianas name 'china rising'. - There's no biiig island to represent Taiwan however there's smaller islands nearer mainland China that Taiwan owns now. There could be some cool missions around F86 vs Mig15/19. These air battles are how the Soviets got the first sidewinder to copy. Mig21 vs f5s for a fictional Chinese invasion. Mig21s/J11/JF17 vs F16/F18 for a modern Chinese invasion. Obviously add US at will.

Ok well if it works for other people then I gotta look at my use of it The track replayer saves every flight. I only have had problems with it saving mp flights a couple times (it shows nothing besides the literal path of my plane) I'll go look at the tracks shortly. I should have one from yesterday where I was chasing an F18 and shot two that missed from around 2-4 miles. I continued chasing him but broke off when another bandit started spiking me. (Was going to try guns..) And no offense taken. If you want we can also meet on a server and test at will if you like

I'm well aware of the sino Soviet split. However the jf17 obviously was invented beyond even the USSR existence. I'm just wondering if the missile is behaving as it's supposed to. Or not? If it is why would the PLA use such an atrocious missile - as I said before an r60m in dcs at least is hands down much superior. I find it hard to believe the Chinese couldn't buy or reverse engineer those seeing as how they did so with an entire plane (su33) Idk. I didn't do extensive tests or tests at all frankly. I just know using r60s from a mig21 or old aim9s on a f5 I reliably get kills and hit human targets 3 miles or so chase up to 5 miles head on. I haven't hit ANYTHING in about 12 pl5 launches I've had recently. A couple patches ago they were almost sure hits so it's surprising why the massive switch back

I've watched online tutorials. read chucks guide about it. Googled it. I enter WP1; WP 1 with a space; hell I even tried writing waypoint 1. I tell ground crew to update Everytime. I really don't get it???

Marianas has no maps inside the pit at all rn. Also it'd be huge to be able to zoom in the map case view besides only in Caucauses

Ive been reluctant to speak on it without running even basic tests. That said yes I seem to lose wings a lot from AAA as well. I think part of it may be the damage model can be fine; speckled with damage or off. Leaving little in between. Maybe not. Idk honestly
