Ultimate challenge: Defeating the mighty Carl Vinson

8 KA50's loaded with KH25s ? -
I'm guessing much of the effects (which are all still DX8 I believe?) are not necessarily offloaded to the GPU, hence why the game is largely CPU dependant . Constant upgrades are going on with the enging, though we the consumer will only see those updates at major releases (such as the recent patch , or the upcoming DCS:Hog release) Yes, I think most of us if not all see slowdown with volumetric lights.. My advice to you to improve FPS is to lower view distance from high to medium or low (thanks to Polecat for telling me the same, I get + 20fps from going to medium).

I'll haveto post a somewhat general "bug" report here. I have noticed on 3 seperate occasions, whilst playing on 3 different missions on 2 different servers (!), that sometimes the Spawn point of multiplayer KA50's after a player death is incorrect. If you die in game, and re-select a KA50, you will sometimes spawn off the tarmac on the grass. If more than 1 person tries to spawn , they will both spawn in the same location (off the runway in the grass) , and will overlap and both will explode. As I said, this only happens sometimes. I wish I could be more specific, but I believe this could be a farily common bug since the 101 patch? Appreciate additional comments and data here on this "bug" if others have seen it.

SimHQ feature on DCS: Black Shark - "Technical, Simplified"

really good reading! -
great idea , and good luck...theres some incredibly talented (and mature) folks around under 18 in this community

great stuff Dragon, greatly appreciated all the time and effort!

Heya mate, Agree with the other comment on jumping into realistic straight away... it's not that scary or hard, but it is pretty rewarding :) With regards to what to put on your hotas ... the best configuration (in theory) is the actual configuration ... go to the controls section, and filter it down to the controls INS Collective and INS Cyclic , and you can see what real collective and cyclic buttons there are, and allocate accordingly :)

Padlocking will lock the view to a target, and mean you cannot move your view untill you stop padlocking. You can still toggle the use of padlock if you like, though it really is intended to assist the player in keeping track of a target which should be made easier by using trackir! basically, you probably don't need to or want to use it since you have trackir

if you find it Shaman, be sure to share..that sounds like some good reading.

X52 Pro drop menu button map?
nemises replied to digitaljjd's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
the easiest way to tell which button is which button number is to look in windows control panel under "game controllers".... Assuming you have the correct drivers loaded, you will see all axis and buttons in that control panel, each with a number designation, that will light up as you press the button. -
Hi Huggie, Thats normal! You need to continue to hold down the left mouse button once you have pressed the Lamps Test button....ie. click on the lamps test button and HOLD the left mouse button whilst scanning around in the cockpit to check lamps....once you take your finger off the left mouse button, it will end the lamps test. The alarm you are hearing is the "Low Rotor RPM" warning, which is triggered as part of the lamps test....if it is annoying, you can turn off the "intercom" radio power before you start the the lamps test (don't forget to turn it back on afterward though!). I wouldnt worry about the "failure queue memory" warning on the ekran at this stage, as none of the other avionics are powered on yet. Good luck!

Hiya Huggie, welcome mate :) Is it a lamps test you are trying to do (by pushing and holding the lamps test button), or do you want the Ekran to run it's self test? The Ekran self test is run when you first turn on the Ekran (Ekray/Hyd switch at rear right)...the Master Caution and Gearbox caution lights will flash...you wold then press the Master Caution light twice, and the Ekran should then enter a brief self-test. Or is it some other more advanced test that I'm not sure of...what startup list are you using? You could also check out Miguez's amazing startup video tutorial, which seems to cover just about every advanced pre-startup check there is! http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=42223

guys... keep it cool eh...it's none of our business one way or another.

wow...outstanding !

^^ it is the key feature that this module will bring (assuming it is the first multi-pilot module that is!). From what I've seen / read on these boards over the years, it is very much ED's intention to have a pilot / gunner.

Clear Tkhvarchelli mission-variations
nemises replied to Endoplasmic Reticulum's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
you might haveto open the mission in the ME and have a tinker ... hopefully it's as easy as modifying one of the random spawn triggers -
its normal for the sim to drop to desktop between the GUI and the sim engine (2 seperate .exe's). just press the pause/break key and you'll be away and laughing.

...or they make , like, vomiting noises through the headsets...

Well, the Mi24 is ON the official list of "stuff they are currently developing or hoping to develop" , so seems pretty likely that'll be hapenning one day. There is even some developments shots of the DCS Mi24 cockpit kicking around somewhere... *edit* here it is: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=503375&postcount=343

It is quite hard...a couple of things might help. 1) Line up REALLY early...like 10 KM's or so, and make sure you trim for the correct heading 2) try using "flight director" mode for your final attack run...this will mean less see-sawing as the autopilot channel input will be disabled. 3) as above, think of them as an area attack weapon...let salvos go in Medium or High rather than 2 or 4 rockets at a time.

^^ ah ok, I thought the switch changed with the loadout..thx It will lock the Shkval to look "at" the calculated impact point, which is a fixed point relative to the BlackShark (ie it will point straight ahead no matter what the Sharks orientation is ...) its up to you whether you use the small reticle on the HUD, or watch the Shkval, as the result is the same...the Shkval could help you be more precise because of the magnification, but the HUD pipper gives you much more SA.

Hiya Dooom... 1) dunno...I know the OAT guage is non functional, and that external air temp is based on table calculations (that can be found on these boards, posed by yo-yo ... be prepared to have a degree in physics tho :/ ) 2) The Ballistics data dial is set automatically to the correct setting for the ballistic weapon you have loaded...it will change automatically if you re-load a different ballistic weapon on teh ground. The only time you would need to manually adjust it is if you load 1 type of ballistic weapon on the inner pylons (say s8's), and another type on the outer (say gunpods)..in this instance you would need to change the dial setting between each type to get accurate hud pipper info. In the case where you have Vhikrs and rockets, then the dial will stay set to the rockets setting, as Vhikrs to not use ballistic calculations, they are guided. The piper affected is the one that shows your calculated impact point in the HUD when a ballistic weapon is selected, not the standby hud (which presumably you would use if your targetting computer was malfunctioning like Luke in the death star canyon) 3) Autotracking will keep the Shkval pointing at the "target" point that you have piped (by using the laser for range, and the shkval gimble for deflection), where as Gunsight mode will keep the Shkval pointed at the Calculated impact point on teh HUD. Usefull if you want to use the Shkval to accurately place rockets....this way you can "fly" the shkval to the target, and know the weapons are also lined up...not to be used for Vhikrs though .. to easy to loose laser alignment...but for unguided weps, perfect. You can also use auto tracking for unguided weps and just line up the HUD reticles, but IMHO gunsight mode is superior for unguided weapons (not including the cannon which can shoot off axis!) 4) if you are a total nerd, or if something shoots out your targeting computer I'd say...nevery used it though, and wouldn't know how :(
