  1. Apparently this gives you an advantage online. I shall install.
  2. The Eagle is easy mode compared to the Flanker so I guess that makes it a better beginner plane.
  3. Looks like a case of RTFM to me.
  4. Not like it was a super interactive stream anyway. It's best to do controlled YouTube videos if you want to stick to the script.
  5. The ECM light is on the lower right panel. It'll blink for a while while you press it and then will be a solid green. Check page 69: http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/250310/manuals/DCS_Su-27_Flight_Manual_EN.pdf?t=1417046009
  6. Just another whiny post from that guy that adds nothing to the discussion.
  7. TWS is simply devastating against opponents who are usually expecting a STT shot. I myself have fallen many times for it while I was learning the Flanker on the 104th. It's like those sneaky ET shots of the Flanker, you never know if it's in the air, but you better expect it every time. It gives the enemy about 5-10 seconds of reaction time, which is enough to kill the greedy ones still trying to guide their ER's in. If you're attacking from weird angles you can even score completely silent kills with the AMRAAM as the SPO-15 won't pick up the missile. I've been blown out of the sky out of nowhere a couple of times with TWS shots.
  8. Oh man gotta love those people who try to desperately validate their purchase. As I said, these kind of programs are nothing but snake oil for gamers.
  9. Are moderators supposed to further polarize the discussions here? Just lock this topic rather than derailing it, it has been answered.
  10. If this is known, perhaps delete the thread so the information won't spread.
  11. I wouldn't pay money for these kinds of programs, they're "snake-oil" for gamers. It probably shuts down some Windows services in the background when you launch a game and maybe change priorities of the executables. Looking at your specs, it wouldn't help you at all. At 20€ it's definitely a rip-off. If you really want something like this, there are free alternatives around. Check out Razer GameBooster for example.
  12. These kinds of planes in DCS seem very pointless to me. Unlike real life, there are no costs associated with training people with the very planes they will fly. No risk of loss of aircraft or the crew, no fuel costs, no need to make extra aircraft for training purposes. In simulations it's perfectly fine to jump into the plane you want to learn and simply learn it. You don't need to "ease into it" like the IRL. If you're into these kinds of things, there's always FSX.
  13. I think EAK is confusing flaps with slats on the leading edges of the wings, which operate automatically depending on the AoA.
  14. Here's the original BFM report: http://imgur.com/gallery/qBgy4/new#jlZlE2y https://medium.com/war-is-boring/read-for-yourself-the-f-35-s-damning-dogfighting-report-719a4e66f3eb
  15. MP balancing is the job of the mission makers, not the developers.
  16. That article is just horrible.
  17. I don't know what happened between my last post, but I currently have no problems taming this beast at the moment. It turns beautifully and I'm yet to get one of those dreaded inverted stalls after about 10 hours of flight time on the 104th server over the last couple of days. I'm simply treating it as early WW2 fighters and avoiding pulling negative Gs.
  18. I think civilian stuff should stay in FSX, X-Plane and such. I like DCS/Eagle because it's the only flight simulator focusing on interesting combat aircraft (hence the name Digital Combat Simulator).
  19. That was very impressive. How do you not suddenly break up and die in an irrecoverable stall when you disable the FC though? :)
  20. Anyone else notice how it's not his missile that takes the Mig out, but a missile from a completely different angle? Like this:
  21. Thank you for the answers. I figured as much but I thought I'd ask the veterans here too. Then this must be the worst balance job I've ever seen. There's no reason to take Russian birds over the F-15 other than pure nostalgia factor, they're horribly outclassed due to the magic of the AMRAAM and the 15's superior radar. They removed the AE which gave the Flanker at least some kind of parity due to it never entering operational service. In the meanwhile the F-15C got the AMRAAM-C which entered service in the late 90's, giving the 15 even further edge. No, this game is not "balanced" at all. No wonder everyone stacks the F-15's on multiplayer servers. Though that's a discussion for another topic.
  22. As the title says. I'm guessing the R is a bit more nimble due to lower weight, but I'm not sure by how much and how noticeable it is.
  23. It looks like a screenshot from Fallout to be honest.
  24. I can't wait for the release. The current UI and separate clients are really a pain. Half Life 3 confirmed. It always bugged me this thread was in "chit-chat" forum rather than DCS World forums though.
