  1. I am not completely sure, but here are my best estimates at the moment. poza2-skin.jpg Static discharge wicks main wing = C-101-fuse-2, x=2575, y=1790 poza3-skin.jpg Dorsal aerial = C-101-fuse-1 x=2130, y=2270 Base aerial = C-101-fuse-1 x=x2275, y=2350 Ventral aerial = C-101-fuse-1 x=2475, y=2360 poza1-skin.jpg Static discharge wick rudder= C-101-fuse-1, x=2970-3075, y=2415 Static discharge wick elevators = C-101-fuse-2, x=3200, y=1780 Note that some of these are on fuse-1 and some are on fuse-2. Also, on the static discharge wicks (esp on the elevators), my impression is that the wire is different to the connector. They could just be adjacent, but I'm not sure. Anyway, hopefully that will help a bit. I can look into it a bit more, if you wish. In which case, just let me know.
  2. Good idea!! A few questions... Will all aircraft have a default channel pre-setup for this? Will the frequency be in the briefing (in case there is no default channel)? Will there be separate channels for ATC and AWACS (so as not to mix-up local app/dep/taxi traffic with front-line bogeydopes)?
  3. Simple? :shocking: It didn't look very simple to me. Rather, that looked insanely difficult!! Very impressive flying there... very impressive indeed.
  4. Yes, that was it. Installed correctly now. Many thanks for the prompt reply. Greatly appreciated!!
  5. I don't think many are expecting the FW-190 A-8/F-8 to be any different to the FW-190 D9 or the Bf 109 K-4. There might be a "challenge campaign", but it will not be a historical set of missions... just a way to get some practice or test your skills a bit. The Normandy map only has a single Lufwaffe airfield (Évreux), and even that is right at the map edge. So it makes it a bit difficult to include a historical campaign. That's why there are multiple campaigns for the Allied aircraft, but nothing for the Germans... yet. A lot will depend on the new WW2 maps. Maybe there will be something suitable, that will allow a campaign to be built? But given that these maps have not even been announced yet, I think there will be a very long wait (~ years) until anything is available.
  6. I've been searching for information on setting-up basic stats for a training server and came across this thread. Have been trying to get various things to work, but with no success so far. Where would I put this sort of code? Is this a script that runs of a "once" trigger? Or does it need to go somewhere else. I tried to get SLMOD (v7.0.060) to work, but without success on that too. Installed it to here: C:\Users\Dietrich\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\net\Slmodv7_0 but according to the installation notes, after running DCS Multiplayer, it should create a ...\Saved Games\DCS\Slmod\config.lua file, but it doesn't. So I'm stuck on this front too. An alternative stats idea I had would be parse the file: C:\Users\Dietrich\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log The problem here is that each time I re-start the server, the file is overwritten. Is there a way to automatically start a new file with a counter (dcs_0001.log, dcs_0002.log) or date (dcs_20190406_163203.log) each time a new mission starts? Thanks for any tips/help/advice.
  7. This is a step-by-step guide on how to set up a mission and use the 3D-model version of the NS-430 GPS unit in the L-39C Albatros. Note that this is the 3D-in-cockpit model of the NS-430, not the "overlay version". There is nothing new here. However, the reason I created this guide is that it took me a while to find out how to set it up. There is no mention on how to do this in either the official DCS NS430 manual, nor the official DCS L-39 manual. Nor is it mentioned in the L-39 community guides. There are not any YouTube tutorials that I could find either. What is worse, is that there are a few "gotchas" in the setup that can lead to a lot of frustration while trying to figure things out. Yes, the information is on the forums, but it is scattered over several posts, and is confused by a lot of out-of-date information or advanced topics (e.g. Lua code). Hence I figured I would do a complete step-by-step guide. With luck, a forum-search or internet-search might list this thread and it may help someone who is interested in getting this option to work. Using the 3D-model NS-430 in the DCS L-39C Albatros This was tested and working on 06-Apr-2019 with DCS version 2.5.4.29167. From here on, the official DCS NS-430 manual will cover everything you need. Good luck! :joystick:
  8. NTTR is a superb map. does exactly what it says in the product description, and we use it the whole time for training. That's not right, so there might be something amiss. Here's the procedure I use... Start up DCS and go to the main menu (with the modules along the bottom and the options down the right-hand side). Click on "Mission Editor". You will then get the editor start window with "create new mission" and "open mission". Click on "create new mission". At this point a "New Mission Settings" windo opens. On the left, uou will see a "Choose Map" list with "Caucasus", "Nevada" and any other maps you might own. Click "Nevada". You will need to assign countries to coalitions, which you can do by clicking on the country and then clicking the red/blue arrow (or the white dot for neutral). Alternatively, you can use the "Coalition presets" drop down menu in the top right. Once you're done, click the green "OK" button in the lower right. You will now be in the mission editor, with the NTTR map (Nevada) selected. Have fun! :)
  9. No. I was the sole occupant of the airport, but good idea. I once had a re-fuel issue because of exactly that issue. Yes, that was it. I was starting the NS-430 while still on battery/external power. Once I started the engine the satellite signals could get through. Many thanks for pointing out the work-around. Much appreciated!
  10. Amazingly fast response! I'm very impressed and pleased that you fixed it so quickly. Looking forward to the next update.
  11. Cool. Found it now. Thanks!
  12. At the moment, I am unable to get any GPS position with the NS-430. I have tried the L-39C (using both the 3D model and the overlay modes of the NS-430) and the C-101CC (overlay only). My procedure is this: 1. Enter the aircraft and start it to get power 2. Turn the ".C" power knob to start the NS-430 3. Press "ENT" twice to get past the start-up screens 4. At this point there is the map with "NO GPS POSITION" in large friendly letters. I have checked the manual and forums and have seen some comments saying that I need to wait for a while for it to warm up. I've done this (approx. 5 mins) but it doesn't seem to change. I have attached a sample track file. I am using DCS v2.5.4.29079 Any suggestions on what I am doing incorrectly? :helpsmilie: server-20190330-115310.trk
  13. I have noticed that the C-101 will sometimes shake violently when on the ramp and before anything is switched on. It is as if there is an earthquake in progress! Steps to replicate the problem: 1. Create a new Caucasus mission in the editor. 2. Put a single C-101 on an airfield 3. Set it to "Client" 4. Set it to "Take of from ramp" 5. Set the Wind speed at 10m to 1 m/s 6. Start the mission and enter the aircraft 7. Do NOT start anything, just sit there 8. The shuddering will usually start within 20-30 seconds Attached is an example mission which illustrates the problem. The shuddering sometimes starts immediately. Sometimes it takes a minute to start. But usually the aircraft is shaking within 30 seconds. This has got nothing to do with the engine or anything like that. As indicated, I am sitting there without touch anything. The systems are off, canopy still open, ladder in place, etc.. I am pretty sure the key factor is the wind speed at 10m. If I set this to 0 m/s, then the shudder does not occur. At least not in any of the tests I've done. The problem occurs equally on both the C-101CC and C-101EB. It did not occur on a couple of other aircraft I tried (FW190D9 or L-39C). 14. How did you do it? I am of the same mind set: I don't want to lose any existing skins and I would prefer to restrict it to the appropriate country. Or perhaps the original author could make that change? Another suggestion would be to put it on the User Files area https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/
  15. Overwing on a Harrier? :shocking: Reminds me of the English Electric Lightning. No doubt these have been posted before, but here they are again...
  16. Thanks for the replies! Are you sure that this is the same aeroplane? The one in that photo looks like the aircraft on page 13 of the DCS C-101 manual, which lists it as a C-101DD. Apart from the missing pylons, the top of the tail-fin is different. I guess there could have been a modification between photos, of course. And the weapon signs look identical! I do like @TLTeo's theory that it is a CASA model, being used to promote sales. So, maybe the caption of the photo is incorrect (for both!) and these are both C-101DD variants? However, I definitely agree with you that the photo I posted is Spanish. As you point out, that yellow-red roundel is just barely visible. I hadn't seen it on first inspection. EDIT: @Ramsay posted while I was typing up this. Yes... that's nailed it. The matching registration and markings, especially. Good to see it from another perspective. Any clues on the weapons, though?
  17. I've encountered a problem which I *think* is the same thing. Screenshot attached. Aircraft = C-101CC, Map = Caucasus DCS ver. = 2.5.4.28840 (Steam openbeta) Any fixes? Or do we just need to wait for the Devs to look into it?
  18. The C-101 is a fantastic module and I've been flying it a lot lately. This has prompted me to do some extra reading and research, in order to learn more about it. As a result, I came across this web-page/photograph: Ref: Ref: http://www.airliners.net/photo/Untitled/CASA-C-101CC-Aviojet/2796405 I have some questions: 1. From which country is this example? I can't see any insignia. 2. At the top of the vertical stabiliser (in DCS), there is a small horizontal disk. But not on the aircraft in the photo. What is that disk supposed to do? 3. What is that cluster of seven(?) weapons on the second pylon of the starboard wing? 4. What is the weapon on the inner-most pylon on the same wing? Any ideas? Thanks!
  19. Totally agree!
  20. We'd need some aircraft though. Yes, the F4U Corsair is on the way and we could use the Spitfire and P-51D... but there is nothing for the Japanese side. Not even AI. Agreed... NTTR is a great map.
  21. Agreed. Caucasus is a superb map. Definitely my favourite of all the maps.
  22. There are no yellow lines marking the borders between Arizona and Utah. Or the border between California and Arizona. This can be checked by using the mission editor, and turning on MGRS grid in the "Set map options". The CA-AZ border has the river, so it is perhaps not so important. But the AZ-UT border is over wilderness, so it would be great to have it marked.
  23. The file should probably be called "DCS-C-101-Guide" (without the "CC"). There is just as much EB material as there is CC material. Or, if it if supposed to be a CC-only guide, then drop the pages with EB (which are confusing and make the guide rather long) and make a separate guide? Also, I was a bit puzzled by Page 10. Is this really for the C101CC?
  24. Recently someone commented that we should write about the good things of DCS WW2, especially multiplayer. Well, there is one very good thing. Very good indeed: WW2 ended in 1945 Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months, you will not have failed to have noticed that a new aircraft will be released to DCS tomorrow. (The fact it is released on the 13th and, not the 14th, seems a missed opportunity, but still.) Nevertheless, tomorrow will change DCS forever, as squillions of Tommycat pilots will flood the virtual skies, drowning the chat and comms with quotes from the Disney film as they roleplay Midget, Gooze, Conker, Merlot, Iceboy and all the other characters from their childhood cinema fantasies. Of course, few of them will have read the flight manuals or have the foggiest idea what to do, so expect pandemonium with flat spins, carrier crashes and more whining than a Harrier engine... all mixed in with a heady over-excitement. No doubt they too will wake up the next morning with a sticky navel and feeling somewhat disappointed, like Charlie once did. But fortunately for us, the "fat-F/A18C-wannabe" was not introduced until 1974. Even if we complain about how the Mk.IX is up against the K-4, at least the WW2 servers draw the line at 1945 when it comes to aircraft match-ups. Let us sincerely hope that no-one decides to inflict the "Final Countdown" on us. But with the exception of that sort of nonsense, the WW2 scene will be blissfully free of the whole Topgum-reenactment-craze and we can get on with blowing each other out of the virtual skies in peace and quiet (well, as much peace and quiet as 6x.50cals or an coaxially-mounted 30mm will allow). We should be grateful, all we who moan about our green-tinted glasses or not enough methanol in our water. The "F(or)-14(yearold)-B(oys)" aircraft arrives tomorrow. Long live DCS WW2 !! PS: Oh, and... Dear Heatblur, could you come and develop some WW2 stuff now? Thanks! :D
  25. Is it possible to open the template using GIMP? For me, some .psd files load in GIMP just fine, but not these ones. I am wondering whether it is just the version of GIMP I am using, or if there is some PhotoShop specific feature in the C-101 template that will actually require PhotoShop to deal with it.
