  1. Magnitude 3 LLC are working on the F4U-1D Corsair. The last update was 12-Oct-2018 when they mentioned that they were working on textures. Ref: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3654006&postcount=1
  2. DCS Skyrim. Please make that happen!
  3. Phweee... just waded through 64 pages of this thread. If that isn't tribute to the work that Heatblur does, I don't know what is. :) PS: Draken for the win. :D
  4. @ Vladislav2Gimloo ... THANK YOU! That was exactly what I had been trying to find. So, based on that, I've extracted the following information (in case anyone else is curious). Without exception, all forces have access to the L-39C. Based on the db_countries.lua script, the following forces have the L-39ZA. USA Russia Abkhazia Algeria Bulgaria Czech Republic Georgia Hungary Slovakia Syria Ukraine Additionally, I found that you can check the "..\DCSWorld\CoreMods\aircraft\L-39\Liveries" folder. This indicates which liveries exist. L-39C Liveries Algerian AF NL-29 Black Diamond Jet Team Czech Air Force Czech Air Force CLV Czechoslovakia Air Force DDR Luftwaffe DDR Luftwaffe Early France EC24 Fictional German Bundeswehr 28+53 Russ Jet Team Russian Air Force Russian Air Force Navy Russian Air Force Old Slovak Air Force Ukraine Air Force UKHW L-39ZA Liveries Algerian AF NL-44 Algerian AF Tiger NL-36 Czech Air Force Czechoslovakia Air Force Russian Air Force Slovak Air Force Splinter camo desert Splinter camo woodland All of the above is based on DCS Open Beta version 2.5.3.23225, 24-Oct-2018.
  5. On the topic of A-8 paint, but this time on the outside... Knowing that the A-8 in DCS is based on a specific aircraft (REF), I went hunting to see if I could find other examples of the A-8. What I'm thinking of is what sorts of paintschemes we could possibly get. I found a photo suggesting a "white scheme" (REF), but didn't see any "brown schemes" . I am guessing that the A-8 was introduced so late that the Italian campaign had moved up into greener areas. However, I did find mention of an F-8 in brown-dapple colours (REF)... although I'm not sure how reliable this is and I couldn't find a more definitive reference. Would that be too much of a stretch? It would certainly be great to have an appropriate paint scheme to use the A-8 on a blank patch of desert on the Nevada or Persia maps. Another stretch might be Hungary, which also used the F-8 (REF). I know that the F-8 and A-8 are different, but I still think they are sufficiently similar to warrant some F-8 paintschemes. I also looked to see if I could find any Arctic paintschemes. The FW 190 was used by JG5 in Northern Norway in the defence of the deep-water ports (such as air-cover over the battleship Tirpitz)... not sure if it was the A-8 being used though. Still, I would be very curious to know if it was! Does anyone else know? PS: I found this A-8 picture too: link ... surely worth a caption competition. ;)
  6. Is there a list or roster or something which has a list of which countries have the L-39C and L-39ZA in DCS? There only seem to be a few nations with the L-39ZA, although lots have the L-39C. I've searched the forums/web, but cannot find anything. So, before I go through and check every one of them in the Mission Editor to figure out what my options are for scenario building, I thought I'd ask if there is already a list available? Or if there is perhaps a .lua file somewhere which has the national availability of the variants? Thanks.
  7. As mentioned, the 109 K-4 and 190 D-9 are later in the war... both of which were first going into service in numbers in October 1944. However, the FW 190 A-8 is on its way to DCS (ref: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3644925&postcount=162 ) This will be a good contemporary for the P-47 and Spit.MkIX, as well as the Normandy map. The first A-8s were being used for combat in around April/May 1944 Refs: https://www.chuckhawks.com/messerschmitt_Bf109.htm https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Focke-Wulf_Fw_190 https://falkeeins.blogspot.com/2010/09/difference-between-fw190a-8r2-and-8r8.html
  8. There have been numerous posts and details about the project. Try searching for "P-47D" in the official news threads of this forum. No trailer yet (that I know of), but there are screenshots. For just one example: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3605822&postcount=156
  9. Really excellent podcast. It was interesting to hear the interviewer make remarks like "But you're not going to have this...", only to hear the calm reply: "Well, actually we can do that right now...". Sure enough, the interviewer admitted that ED had "nailed it". Nice! It was also impressive that the interviewer could fly the DCS F/A-18 relying purely on his real-world training. That's a true accolade for the fidelity of DCS. (The discussion mentioned that some players took weeks to learn. If only! I'm still struggling, and I've been at it for months.) :joystick: PS: Unfortunately they made some mistakes on the podcast's webpage: they had some picture of a young casual guy, in need of a haircut and shave. Where is our suave hero in uniform and tie? (Joking) And then they labelled it "Mr Matt Wagner", when we all know it should be "Sir ...". :D
  10. Thanks everyone for multiple prompt and informative replies. It is greatly appreciated.
  11. Looking at the screenshot in Coyote's post on the weapons (REF), there seem to be 2x MG-131 (13mm) and 4x MG-151 (20mm) with two switches in between the MG-151 counters. A couple of questions... 1. Does that mean pairs of MG-151 cannons can be selected separately? 2. Could we could fire all six guns simultaneously? 3. How much ammunition is there per gun? Or, in order to compare it to something, is the amount of ammunition per gun the same as those in the D-9?
  12. Superb. I notice there are no shadows on the "patch" itself. Is that just your graphics settings, or is this a consequence of this technique?
  13. In the 24-Aug-2018 News Update (REF), the developers mentioned "new World War II era maps". I would be very keen to find out what those new maps are, before making any suggestions on which type of Bf 109 to model next.
  14. Could you please confirm what the axes are and what the units are in those graphs? I am assuming the vertical axis in each graph is maximum achieved speed in km/h. But what is the horizontal axis? Time in seconds? Also, is that in-game data, or did you get the numbers from some historical source. If so, what was the reference? Thanks.
  15. Отлично! спасибо!
  16. Thanks Coyote for the replies to the questions. Much appreciated! Okay, thanks for that, Fenrir. That prompted me to do a a quick hunt about on the internet to see if I could find some example of it. I found this one:
  17. ^ This. Just thinking about the sounds of ED's recent Yak-52, I am so looking forward to the A-8 in DCS. :music_walkman:
  18. And sounds. That radial engine in the A-8 will need totally different sound recordings and audio editing, compared to the existing inline engine in the D-9.
  19. Excellent news regarding the FW 190 A-8. I am really looking forward to this one, for several reasons. 1. Radial engine. Rugged, characteristic, and a new challenge in engine management. However, it is the audio-possibilities that have me excited. The engine sounds will make-or-break this module, but I have every confidence that ED will get this right. If you've heard what ED did for the Yak 52, you'll know what I'm talking about. 2. Earlier-version of the FW 190. Although I love the performance of the D-9, the A-8 is a far better match for the Spitfire Mk.IX that we have in DCS. It was already in service in mid-1944, so it will be excellent for Normandy missions and also for some pre-D-day missions too. For those of us looking for better historical matches, the A-8 is a must for the Normandy era. 3. Short-nosed prevalence. As a short-nosed FW, it is similar in appearance and performance to all the other short-nosed FW variants. Whether an F-8 in Italy or an A-6 in Finland, A-4/T in Libya or A-5 on the Eastern Front, the A-8 is a much better stand-in for these than the D-9 is. I hope we get a good selection of paint-schemes for it! 4. Short-nosed appearance. Subjective, I know, but on a personal level, I prefer the look of the A-series to the D-series. :-) I am also curious about what to expect regarding the loadout. As SilverDragon reported from the Russian Forum. The last bit states there'll be a centre-line pylon under the fuselage. But what will be on it? 4xSC50? SC250? SD2-butterfly-bombs? Drop-tank? SC500? Torpedo?! The only ordnance on an A-8 I've found so far are Wurfgranate 21cm rockets under the wings. I wonder if we'll get those at all?
  20. Very cool work. It looks great, and the overview of the airfield afforded by the tower is precisely what we need for coordinating ground movement at the start of the mission, before our JTAC-player switches over to a radar/fighter-director role. As pointed out by others, the Advance Landing Grounds (ALGs) are fairly makeshift, without the larger permanent structures. I had suggested converting an armed watch tower. This gives some elevation and overview, but without looking quite so permanent. The problem with the tent concept, is that it is difficult to get spatial awareness of the aircraft movements. Likewise with just some radio equipment in a jeep. However, this ATC tower would be fantastic for the UK-based fields, as others have already said. It is a bit of a stretch, but perhaps with judicious placement, and some other appropriate scenery, it would probably work at Évreux too (the only German field on the map for the post-invasion time frame; ref). Évreux was bombed on the 13th, 15th and 25th June 1944. I can find no mention of a control tower per se, but there were 6 flak towers in 1943. Regardless, the increased playability makes this ATC tower mod a useful asset for operations there too. ref: http://www.ww2.dk/Airfields%20-%20France.pdf
  21. If you speak German, consider getting in touch with JG4 -- http://jagdgeschwader4.de/ They fly 109 K-4s for the Storm of War events and are the best, systematic, squad-based 109 pilots I know of.
  22. What about 21cm WfGr? Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Bundesarchiv_Bild_101I-674-7772-13A,_Flugzeug_Focke-Wulf_Fw_190,_Bewaffnung.jpg During the Q&A session with Nick Grey, the implication was that access to real aircraft was critical. Ref: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=207133 (search on that page for the term "real aircraft").
  23. Great improvement, thanks! Often at the front, we're looking up trying to spot aircraft. Having the roof down means we don't have to go to iso-view or F7 to look up.
