Hey sparky. I plan on playing this weekend, even today. I'm in the Eastern Time Zone. This makes me miss the old days of icq and im services. Now a days I'm so paranoid of giving away even emails. Trying to think of the best way to stay in contact. I hear discord is the new thing. Teamspeak is still around and popular for certain servers/games. Most of the servers have a description or briefing with a stated teamspeak address.

Hey, I'm in NY aswell, getting 150s. Can't take off now, need to work on my crosswind training I guess. I will be buying Normandy because I didn't get ww2 planes to fly just over modern day Georgia as fun as that is.

Amazing trailer. Cannot wait! I hope you can get this onto steam asap, some people are holding out for the steam release. I'll grab it on the preorder.

Early 109Es have square wings, but 109Fs and later (G,K) have rounded wings. The 190s have the more squared looking wings, but they are still rounded at the corners. Some of the 109/190s marking have gray in them, but the wings always generally have that standard Luft marking of green and grey. They don't have many choices on the server either way. Plus the LOD (level of detail) when far away defaults the colors I believe. This is very true with the spitfire, it always has that blue color to it far away.

First: Make sure your labels are on, they make the dots just slightly larger. Second: Make sure you have a zoom binded somewhere on your control set up. I'm constantly zooming in and out on people to ID before I'm committed. Third: Make sure you ID the target before you fire. P51s have a a red tail or a yellow nose and squared off wings and a silver body. Spitfires are the darkest dot there is in game currently due to their prop and have elliptical wings. 109s have rounded wings, green camouflage, learn their fuselage's shape. 190s are also green camouflage, some have a red and yellow band around the back of the fuselage. They have a radial front. Fourth: Practice, Practice, Practice Fifth: Hop on the teamspeak, many people work in pairs and groups feeding each other information as well keeping their 6's clear. Sixth: Use the radio with the message's informing you of enemy flying over the different target areas. Seventh: Tracer colors. Allies have a lightly colored red for the mustang. Spit have the light red aswell for MGs and yellow for cannons. Axis has mainly green. The 190's shoot green (mg) and a dark red for cannons, but you mostly notice the green. The 109 mgs are green and really stand out, never noticed the the cannon, maybe its a blue?

Mod for Mbot F-5 Dynamic Campaign : Desert Mirage 86
Weedwacker replied to PB0_CEF's topic in User Created Missions General
So to revert this, just remove the -- and -- from those lines and it should revert the game back to it's original self and no need to worry about potential harm? Also how could this cause potential harm? -
MiG-21bis Dynamic Campaign: Desert Fishbed 76
Weedwacker replied to MBot's topic in User Created Missions General
keep getting this error whenever I end the first mission. EDIT: Ok I ran DCS as a administrator. That seems to have fixed the problem. Now I can complete the missions! -
MiG-21bis Dynamic Campaign: Desert Fishbed 76

If I wanted to remove this campaign for the time being (and I didn't back up the original EN folder) would running a DCS repair revert the folder back to it's vanilla state? -
Red Flag - Aggressor PvP January

Am I too late to make the reserve list? Weedwacker Lonewolf Su-27 USA -
It seemed like the Pro-No-Markers side was actually the ones using passive aggressive techniques. XD Also, the quip about lone wolves goes against the SOP. This is from the SOP: ""Operation “Blue Flag” is a 24/7 PvP campaign for DCS World organised by “Buddy Spike”. Registered squadrons and lonewolves will consist 2 sides (RED / BLUE) which will fight each other in order to capture and hold airbases, FARPs, cities and communication arrays. The map is divided into PAK's (areas of interest)." I'll leave it at that, we've all stated our opinions now, just felt you guys were alittle rough on winchester and he was just standing his ground.
-
"That's not what we have in DCS (not yet)." - But its okay to use Simple Radio and TS3? "I also play squad from time to time and I regulary play ArmA with a tactical community (United Operations, something like the virtual fighter squadrons in DCS). We use map markers like that there for our pre-missions briefings which can take up to 15-30 minutes. It is indeed a great tool for that, but in our community it is also not allowed to use this after the briefing when the mission is live for the very same reasons I stated: It's unrealistic magic." - So...having a GPS in the plane with you is magic? "It gives the position of static objects. Nothing wrong with this, because you can be briefed with them before takeoff." - And a real pilot wouldn't have marked these positions on his map to take inflight with him? "Which is fine, because it's realistic. Even a WW2 aircraft can recieve radio signals..." -And talk on multiply freqs, even when some birds cannot do this, how can we know who is maintaining strict code of ethics here.../s "The layout could indeed be changed from time to time, but what does this have to do with realism? IRL there are also pilots who are already familiar with the AO and new pilots who are not. And saying more realism makes no sense because there is realism missing makes no sense either." -Because realism would only be 1 life for starters. Two, the enemy would reposition things......Three, there is no real ground war, no tank convoys, no infantry. The battlefield is a organic environment, not this, rinse, repeat, try try again. So really, by removing markers... What do you essentially gain other then a placebo effect of furthering the fantasy. If that's it, then so be it...I don't think it will be as fun unless your rolling in your cliques. Also the round is in testing, it's going to be dead right now as far as comms go. When the round starts, people crawl out of the wood work I notice and both ts3 and SRS fill up quite abit.

Wow that is cool that bandit board. See thats what Blueflag is too me currently, its as modern as it can be and also maintaining a balance between the east vs west roster. Not that I am against hanicaps or buffs to either side. I played it when they (west) did have 120s, certainly makes it a different for the Reds.

You sure about that? Also, I say, I say, I like the markers tobe in, atleast for the next round. This would benefit the whole community as it would help ease in new players and give them a goal and a idea of what is going on. Encourage them to dive deeper into the team work aspect. I played Squad this weekend, and that game really fosters teamwork amongst people who have just met. People there weren't snide and smug, they took up lead positions, we even broke down our squads into fire teams. I never see that in DCS unless you go through the hoops of befriending someone with your limited free time or join a Virtual Air Wing. As far as navigation goes, the Buddy Spike gadget is pretty much your goto map anyway, gives exact cordinates to go. Besides you have GCI basically telling you where to go anyway, with pin point accuracy, all you are required to do is read your heading tape. Doubt a new person will figure out the distance exactly though (I know I dont have a wiz wheel on me, but again it can foster encouragement to do so). One more thing, the basic layout hasn't changed, I'm able to dead reckon most of the FARPs and Comm Arrays at this point. (Not a knock to BuddySpike team). The "NEED" which is more of a ""WANT"" from the vocal subsect of no markers would just detract and send BlueFlag into a pool of cliques and quasi elitism that goes around tauting "REALISM" in a setup already missing many key features of said "REALISM". LONG STORY SHORT: Cool your jets boys....XD And lets give this new feature a shot. Maybe one day we could have two version of such a event. One that would be a event void of markers, and preexsisting information. Completely new objectives. More for Virtual Wings vs Virtual Wings And then Blueflag as we have now. Something to really give everyone a purpose and to really give our modules a good leg stretching. *I did not proof read this after. Sorry for any mistakes.

Whats a good mic/headset for TS3?
Weedwacker replied to fastfreddie's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I got the hyper x II cloud aswell. I like it, its comfy enough and has a metal construction in the headband, and good mic, good noise cancellation. Its a quality product for the price. I have a wireless sony headset too, its nice but having to recharge got annoying (unless you get a fairly long usb cord to charge with), but its great for the couch. -
Left Shift + Left Ctrl + Y (LShift +LCtrl +Y) will clear it. Hold TAB to close the typing option though. It will hide the chat.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 8
Weedwacker replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
Sounds great, but, (I haven't done it much, too busy joining this server) you can just mark yourself on the knee board maps anyway, it would give pretty much the same effect as of the f10 map. Also...nevermind. -
Windows 10 Anniversary Update - Experiences?
Weedwacker replied to hughlb's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Same problems here, Mig21 reactivation (not really a big deal for me) but the alt+tab is interminent now and will sometimes now even work or just leave the taskbar up.
