Sad it did come to this, since AI unit movement could be disabled while keeping the forward observer.

Well its not entirely impossible, but entirely unlikely, true. You could implement a more broadband signal processing component to make it capable of such, but it would be pretty much unreasonable and thus with a realistic design choice you are right its not possible. Yup, agreed. Well yes, obviously no sane designer would do a unmodulated noise SNR barrage jammer irl. That would be a fool, not a designer. Given by how stuff works in DCS one could be under the impression what is modelled is just straight jammer power vs reflection based on RCS and scanning radar pulse power, since there is no false contacts, no dependance on aspect, not even randomness given CCM and as you said many more factors. With a simple transmission power modulated, random PRF output jammer in the correct spectrum that possibility is instantly gone obviously a la LPI. Yes should be fixed obviously.

Well then give hard data on the RDI. AKA the machine code of the radar computer and circuit layout of all the radar components please. :D I would be all to happy to plow through all of that to find a "true" answer to what it should do. ;P I mean by certain standards even non public official specs by the manufacturers assume a lot. A single source simply isn't reliable enough imho to straight away believe 530D can home on radar emissions. At the same time HOJ capability doesn't seem unrealistic to me. But if source speak against it, hell yes, bring it. I really do not want any unrealistic features, but I also want realistic behaviour like adjustable doppler filter for example and a reasonable track memory. EDIT: Yeah we should probably stick to the bug itself, which is pretty obviously a bug since it only works if the jammer is the closest thing within the scan volume. The functionality simply performs closest pickup within scan volume. :D I love research too much and tend to drift. ;D

Can we get some info on what resolution the axis will have ? Also will the fold trigger basically fold down and then have some range beyond that for a press on that trigger or is it just a foldable axis ? Also what resolution will the axis in the Hats have and how much dgrees of travel ? Looks great will upll the trigger on MCG pro and gunfighter pro as soon as its available in europe ! :)

According to what I know two iranian F14s were downed by 530D fired from Mirage F1. Source I know for that says that the iranians assumed the 530D homed in on the AWG9 emissions. While possible, I assume HOJ is more realistic and also it is in the same way a reasonable assumption that the 530D as missile for a interceptor would be able to home on jamming signals , as to be intercepted targets likely would emit, as the assumption that the Mirage radar does not have some spacelazor alien jammer track down functionality. Loved the capability to track people beyond normal detection range while they assumed one was not even able to do that within normal detection parameters. And with constant transmission power of a that strong noise jammer, well yes it would be possible. But given that stuff should not be noise jamming ... yeah. plox remove. Features the radar actually should have, would be way more awesome, then stuff it kinda should not have from a gameplay perspective. :D

In DCS we only have constant transmission power noise jammers implemented, which is utter rubbish as we all know. Theoretically tracking a constant transmission power noise jammer is very much possible. Range can be done via received signal strength, track can be established via range azimuth and elevation over time. So technically speaking it could very well be implemented with the capabilities of the RDI and known jammer transmission power. Practically its surely a bug given how it behaves in the game and should be fixed for the sake of basically not being the reasonable interpretation of DCS ECM things and breaking the situation that should exist. Its basically a gameplay thing. We will not know if radars of that generation actually have the functionality to track noise jammers of known transmission powers, theoretically they are capable of it. But since in DCS we _should_ be meeting sophisticated deceptive jamming, which would really mask the correct track from a scanning radar, its kinda unreasonable that the kinda small Mirage radar outperforms the radars of topnotch air superiority fighters. :D I mean the meme15 pilots are already crying for their supersearch while the Mirage has it, which is kinda funny. So yes please, remove the unreasonable within the game meta jammer tracking capability, add ground to air datalink, add doppler filter control, add track memory, give HOJ to the 530Ds and fix the TWS issues. I could not be happier if that actually happend. :)

** AJS-37 Changelog / Update Master List **
microvax replied to Cobra847's topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
And MJ2 is not sensor fuzed. So yeah. ED gotta do something about cluster munitions effectiveness before BK90s can do what they are supposed to. The GBU43 type crater does the job for the moment in MP. ;) -
Yeah I agree with mlbackham, organisation of the challengers side is simply not the task of the aggressor side/event organisers. It is nice to have the planning forums, but everything beyond that is really on ourselves. The setup was imho winnable for us. Harder then last time, because there was no need for HAVCAP on the Aggressor side but that still doesn't present a unsolvable situation. I would be happy to at least start forging new stuff right away but for that positioning of things and map would have to be fixed like naow. Which is kinda unrealistic given the uncertainty coming with DCS patches. I am happy to plan again as soon as the next setup is announced. If I have time at that point is a little random but yeah, generally totally up for that stuff. For completeness sake, my last kill was with a magic2 not 530D.

This round was more fun then initially expected for me tbh. Happygolucky really did awesome work as GCI, not only as GCI but in general as comic relief and motivational coach once it was apparent that the battle was more or less lost. I still feel a little bad for playing the rules a little hard on the end with the border, but it was simply the most promising solution to reset that situation to a more favorable position for me. Tiger practically was the only one who did choose to really push me up high and he did pull full gentlemen there after he crossed the border. S! Yes I can confirm that kill happend. Was initially indeed TWS on blaze but that contrail turning towards me in my face kinda had priority at that moment. ;D Since my recording unfortunately got lost [switching of audio interface before shutting down recording... m)] here is a link with timestamp to relevant part of that kill: Mustang really has a run for me I guess. :D good stuff S! Its really nice to have these events since going against high threat organized resistance is kinda not happening outside of these events so after each round there is really a lot to process and learn from.

Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
microvax replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
SA3s can be overflown but not easily, requires a bit of knowledge of the system etc. I dont mind the SA11 threat, but its going to be pretty pointless because for example no way to fight between gudauta and sochi with that. I think its good that there is the SA3. It prevents the stomp from single a10c in one go, and it gives a motivation to actually deploy sa6 and manpads to fortify positions against air raids. I would very much stick with the sa3, its actually more effective against high alt threats then the sa6. -
MicroVAX RvE M2000c Germany "GCI services will be provided via AWACS uplink, these AWACS aircraft are not eligible to be targetted and will be set on immortal for this event." So sad. No viggen either, double sad. You guys are really making it hard to find something ridiculous to do. :D Will GCI view feature gods eye view like on 104th server normally ? Especially with the targets being right at the foot of the mountains that would remove quite the options from Challengers repertoire. Also: Will GCI count towards squadron limit on sing ups ? Also: How will the winning side be determined ? I guess there is a point system, if that is the case, will the points assigned for actions be made public ? Edit: Will the mission be the same as last redflag [except Aggressors AWACS is immortal] or will it be made public during the week ?

If the firing F15c is in STT and fires AIM120 it gives warning, but not in TWS. D2M can obviously see TWS launches but not from 30nmi. More like around 8nm.

GTX 1080Ti but not a great fps improvement
microvax replied to J3ST3R's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes normandy should make use of the available rendering power, and the caucasus upgrade to 2.0 should do the same then. Basically 1.5 is limited by how old the graphics engine is. -
GTX 1080Ti but not a great fps improvement
microvax replied to J3ST3R's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
DCS is very badly coded and not up to use the rendering power of a 1080ti. Even with a 1080 1.5 is struggeling to even constantly use 50%. 2.0 is much better, try nevada, there you get what your GPU can render. In 1.5 disable civilian traffic and reduce water and shadows, not because your gpu cant handle but because DCS cant handle your gpu. :D Sad but true. -
Operation "Blue Flag" - 24/7 PvP Campaign - ROUND 9
microvax replied to gregzagk's topic in Multiplayer
I still want my XB70. -
SF that was some awesome action right there ! Maybe I love creative tactics to much, but that really was amazing to watch. :D Congratz on the win ! 104th, well, its nearly redundant to mention you guys and very good bvr performance in the same statement, but obviously well fought ! :)

Where is the give medal option in this forum... :D

Roggah, thanks for clarification, shall Yorz and I hand in our E-Mail addresses as well or isnt that needed anymore ?

"Ground pounding is allowed using guns only." Is this to be taken literally or does it mean "no dedicated A2G stores" ? I mean the magic2 can be employed as A2G weapon in a last ditch effort, will that be counted as a rule violation, or is that okay ?

Hmm, well the commonality to use jovial is not exactly indicating much in terms of computational power for return interpretation, the inline assembler makes it possible to squeeze quite a bit out of given hardware, but as long as we do not know what kind of hardware it is, its pretty much not indicating all that much. Do we know how the computers used in the APG70 compare to the one used in the APG73 in terms of complex computations a second ? Or some kind of performance metric, at least what is simulated in DCS if we do not have or will get hard data, which is probable I guess. #gib_use_your_own_jovial_coded_radar_firmware_feature

True ;D Radar parts aren't exactly uPnP. :D Just was trying to get a grasp of if our bug is going to be limited by transmission power and antenna parameters or if we are more limited by processing power and thus return interpretation. With afaik the interpreting parts comming from the strike eagle I would imagine we are limited by antenna and available transmission power.
-
Just in case there is some do not sign up your friends rule, yes I am here to push the limits of the french space shuttle once again, hopefully. :D
-
Isnt a 73 just a 65 antenna with a 70 [strike eagle] transmitter receiver and electronics etc. ?

With VEAO I hope all the best but the p40 state looks like there has not been the "figured it out by now" state one would wish. With F15 vs f18 accel the main concern is how fuel load looks at the time of engagement and how drag compares. The thrust to weight ratio is not that far off, so it will probably come down to drag, which I again compared do not estimate that massively disfavouring the F18. I mean the Mirage2000 has worse accel in game then f15c, and by the pure performance numbers that difference should be quite a bit larger then the to be expected f15 vs f18 difference. But you are kinda right, its down to how it pans out in DCS. Missile performance hint hint. :D Yeah the comparison is a bit exagerated maybe. :P I mean we get a pretty dope APG73 radar, apart from that I am mainly basing the assumption of things people [TM] who flew stuff [TM] said [TM]. So no sources, no hard data, lots of haze. Even if not, radar on TWS'd until $aim120 is pitbull should be stealth enough to make engagement via datalink until firing pretty noice. Yeah will be interesting if the APG73 has the same underperforming tendency like the other radars in game or if that changes. F14 will also be very interesting subject considering the tweakability of its settings by the RIO.
