  1. I am doing that. xD Yes they can carry rockets but no HEAT rockets which do anything to bunkers. s8KOMs just murder bunkers.
  2. Nah, I dont really like to participate in the steamrolls by by far outnumbering red. I am talking about the attacks where we actually roll in with 2 a10c 2 huey 3-4 f15 and actually make it work.
  3. The elphant in the room was, that I didnt check speed, I expected it to be some kind of pesky su27 in the valley. I noticed literally only when I was diving from space that it was a heli. Felt a little bad for him ^^. The Mi8 is a great piece of equipment, got my first air to air kill with it in blueflag. xD What I personally consider the mi8s huge advantage over the huey is the s8koms. An mi8 can deal with respawned bunkers 0 problem while a huey needs to rely on the mortar troops. Its just the way better heli compared to the huey imho, from a technical standpoint. Well i would be up flying, but #nvidiacantintodriverz.
  4. I have been running round 6,7 and 8. Usually when blue is steamrolling its because at least some people got a coordinated strike going, blue starts loosing ground when nobody is there to do GCI and coordination even of uncoordinated flights. And blue tends to start to push back when the veterans show up again since blue is in trouble. :D And honestly last one is the most exciting imho. :D Most memeworthy moment in round 8 for myself was when I was literally merged with a meme 21 for freakin 6 minutes before he crashed into the ground. Both fox1s missed, then both fox2s missed, then loads of lead went past him and I only got one short burst on target. Then I literally stayed on his 6 for 4 minutes until he crashed into the next best mountain. xD GCI was like "can somebody finally kill that mig21, micro is merged for 5 minutes now". xD
  5. As long as rotor blades do not create a doppler shift I could not agree more. :D The fighters mostly spoil the surprise, but as soon as blades create a doppler drift thats going to change drastically, I fear. Its much fun to sneak around. :D
  6. Yup, apart from the moments when you detect an mi8 in a valley from 45 000ft fox 1 him at mach1.6 and its as banterous as it gets. Apart from that I agree that overall helis are the better anti heli devices, in comparison to fighters. While fighters should be better at detecting them, just relay their position and done.
  7. Yeah, I know that you should see the helis even without a special filter option, just with some inaccurate readings in terms of speed as you said. I just thought you were talking about the special filter settings some g2a radars definetly have, dunno about a2a. But anyways, I am happy about every step closer to reality we can get sensor wise. *looks at theese terribly hot trees and cactus plants and chaff not beeing a radiowave reflecting object.*
  8. There is radar ground clutter, at least its implemented what radar groundclutter leads to. If you are not looking up at the helicopter, it gets rejected as groundclutter by the doppler rejection. But there are Radars which actually have an doppler filter setting which looks for the doppler shifted echoes created by spinning rotor blades of a heli. So If we did get that on concerning radars a helicopter would be detectable independant of speed and altitude [EDIT: Without any of the described side effects]. Dont ask me if the f15 has it, I have no Idea. I am just for the radars that have it, getting it. :D EDIT: thx tharos for going into side effects for radars without a special doppler filter setting.
  9. +1 Even if I love to do it to le fighter pilots. :D
  10. I am looking forward to the memes that are going to be sideproduct of me running on red side this round. :D Just waiting for the distributor to send me a replacement GPU. #prayforGPU The memez are going to be good. And I am calling not only fc3 people arcade scrublordz, also people who do use allways alligned, no drift Mirage special option. [And as seen by the -z plural I am deadly serious about this topic and will ignore anyone ... *SARCASM*] And tbh I just do it for le banter. :D Just looking forward to be like "omg I am still alive and perfectly combat ready" when beeing hit by a missile in muh mirage and instantly die. xDDD The Inquisition will happen, soon, in your Redfor TS channel. ;)))) EDIT: Didnt even notice I scored that golden post.
  11. I would say Viggen qualifies for high AOA for an plane, but normal AOA for something delta wingish. BTW, is there any chance we can get the Viggen Manual 1-2 weeks earlier then the release ? Like they did it with the f5e. That way we could blow up the entire russian invasion fleet on day 1 :joystick::pilotfly: :D
  12. http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=110243&d=1419533628 I am still hoping for polychop to bring the wunderwaffle. :D Apart from that I can see round 9 working as something goofy after something more realistic. I liked the round8 concept the best so far, but round9 concept isn't straight bad either. :)
  13. I love that when people claim you can disable the FBW. Its like saying "I have no Idea what the systems in this plane do, they must be broken". If you honestly could disable the FBW, the plane would instantly stop maneuvering. What you CAN do is putting FIXED gain parameters for the controll surface actuations in case your FBW computer fails and cant calculate load based parameters. And there was a patch since the Video you linked which is exactly supposed to improve performance with fixed FBW gain parameters. Radar gimball limits have been fixed. As said before you die more then 90% of the time in a single hit, the maybee 10% you are at best able to rtb. About best sustained turn, I do not know which speeds you are talking about, at low speeds [sub200kts] I was turning with a f15 on the deck for literally 40 seconds in training. And there was no substantial gain. The instant rate is surpreme, overall, but the sustained is pretty normal/not stellar at low speeds unless the f15 is a stellar sustained turner below 200kts, then obviously it is. Dunno about high speeds though, but at high speeds you can just burn your energy because 99% of pilots are just going to burn their energy as well no matter what frame they are in. Given that you need little AOA with a delta at high speed to increase the lift quite a bit, I can imagine the sustained turn is actually good at high speed. Old FM files got patched in last friday, so yeah atm there is situations where the FM got less realistic due to that, and overall I have no problem to agree that the Mirage is WIP and far from perfect. But I just honestly get triggered hardcore level when people say "disable FBW" and bring up issues of a WIP module which are literally weeks old. :D I cant tell you what module is closer to the real world performance, I simply do not know, from an aerodynamic standpoint I see no reason why either shall be massively flawed. But the fidelity of the mirage is obviously higher then the su27. Tie fighters turn bad btw, according to canon, they are a low cost spacecraft. :D Edit: didnt see gregs post, will cease fire on any module discussion.
  14. About the right direction, there is a public NASA paper on the Viggen aerodynamics if you want to get in depth. And honestly I expect it to turn better then an f4 by miles. The biggest problem here is probably G limit [7,5 afaik] and the rm8a, which will suffer from compressor stalls at high aoa [over 18degrees afaik.]. Aerodynamically you could probably get more out of the design, but well, there was no need so they didnt go for that.
  15. Sekrit documentz confirmed ))) +1
  16. Yeah I only meant home airfields. :) Atm blue only has hueys and 342m at sochi which is a massive PITA.
  17. Thats an exageration, you just need practice to do it and they need to fix the ground stabilising in combination with yaw. But its possible, its also well possible to fire from the hip against helicopters, they just need to be at range, so you can fire with centered camera and then slew onto the target.
  18. Well, depends. For sure 2 pairs of eyes is an advantage, but not as much as it would be having a second pairs of eyes in the shark, because the gazelle needs way more babysitting to keep flying in a straight line. :DD And it cant load a mix of armament, so either its hot3, or mistral, or cannon. So to cover all the aspects of armament the shark has, ranged a2g, ranged a2a, gun and rockets, you need 3 gazelles. You are still at a disadvantage in a2g and guns and about even on a2a [mistrals only have 4km range against heli but while so are easier to lock on]. Not even considering systems. So yeah, 6 Gazelles, 2 of each, add up overall to something comparable to ammunition and versatility one shark can carry. Only thing I want though is having at least one mistral and one gun gazelle at airfields for defence. That pack should be quite adequate to deal with a ka50. [ranged and close in weapons] [And before anyone starts crying omg bluefor whines, I am flying redfor this round. :D]
  19. Problem should be fixed by now, still a mi8 or even a huey have a huge advantage in time it takes for landing. And actually blue gets only 2 hueys as red gets 2 mi8s. But I think with all ze gazelles red should maybee get 4 mi8s. That should be fair, mi8 is simply straight away by far better transport chopper then anything blue has but numbers should work out quite well here. [2huyes +6 gazelles vs 4 mi8s + 2 sharks]
  20. What I tend to do is to define one optimum escape route point in the pvi800 some 13km out as a tgt point and high threat targets as tgt points as well. That way I just switch between tgt points while in route mode and press uncage to slew to the targets while the ka50 does the turning in to target and all the jazz. That way you can slew to it while the heli is still turning in, acquire and lock, and fire as soon as you are in range and can also switch back to the outbound tgt point as soon as thie missile has 2-3 seconds left till impact. Very good for single engine operation as well. Since you can just relax while the heli keeps that translational lift going. :D
  21. 0, missile is fixed in development with knowledge from people who seriously know their stuff. :D The missile we will get is pretty much so different, that testing atm is just testing the performance that will completely change on next release. :)
  22. Honestly, interpreting cobras last statements we will see a viggen preorder or even release annoucement. :D For development update its a little late considering its nearly finished. :D
  23. "another helo of thier current product line at the moment too. I can not say anything about the 3rd helo, but if we get a full clearance you all will have something nice to play woth " Since we didnt see, and I dont expect to see a non armed plane yet, I guess the EC145 is unlikely. Also to be considered here is that borchi said, IF they get a full clearance. Armed but not necessarily military helicopters are the Super Puma, Fennec and Panther. But all of theese wont need any clearance in terms of classification probably. Since they are all civilian helicopters with some simple weapon systems straped on to them. The only pure military helicopters eurocopter builds atm, are the NH90 and the Tiger. So yeah, I would expect, they want to do one of them both. If they got a full clerance or not will probably be only brought to light by time. :D
  24. Great update, ED should ask you for a tutorial, how do develop missiles in DCS. :D
