  1. yeah I usually do my start-up being very precise, and unbeknown to me my throttle will be at say 50%, so once the engines kick in and I hit page up twice I hear a bunch of warning signals, meaning I was crashing and on my side... damn throttle.
  2. I have only ever played online. I have about 30 hrs, but want to double that over the next few days and get a bit deeper into the sim. I'm liking it a lot so far.
  3. Some books I've read recently. Apache - Ed Macy. Yeah it was good and all. But not rave worthy. Apache Dawn - Damien Lewis. I liked this. But yes, Macy's account might be better. But it was a different squadron guys, different missions, and a different author. Both books have their merits. Nightstalkers - Micheal J Durant. I love history on how things started. Special Operations Aviation (born from the 'Operation Eagle Claw' disaster), and follows some accounts and events the unit has done. Worthy reading. Buy this. Chickenhawk - Robert Mason. I liked this book. I can understand why it's a classic. Gritty. Informative. A damn good read. Armed Action - James Newton. It was ok. Not great, but better then a lot of shelf filler out there. Lynx pilot in Basra (some may have seen his account in Helicopter Warfare documentaries that are floating around on the internet).
  4. I would love to know this as well, as I usually spend a good 4 hrs in Photoshop making up a diagram relating to the commands. If there is a short cut, then I don't know about it. But I'm new to the software myself.
  5. Yeah I got the English version and still working fine from the download, including manuals. (although I have the hard copy manual now). It has been a seamless 1.0 version in comparison with a lot of other games I have downloaded directly or other sims I have bought from the retailers. I commend ED & Fighter Collection on a great sim that me and my friends have enjoyed for at least the last 7 months. There are a few gripes, like no dedicated server software but on a fresh release, I think it doesn't matter too much. We will work around it. But overall, I'm totally impressed with Black Shark and the player support with the developers on these forums. It's been like no other community I know.
  6. Massive fan of your work. I would love this to be attached to DCS either as a module or a later mod. I hope you boys in ED are taking note. Tiger has a lot of fans here!!!!!
  7. Well not to worry, we are private hosting on Wednesday and Sunday nights for our squadron training and you are welcome to join in mate. It's usually pretty casual and we are all still learning the game and running members through the basics. Once the dedicated is up then I'll let everyone know here in the DCS forums as well. And we'll be looking for multiplayer missions to host on the server, so if you have anything you've made then let us know!!! Don't forget to jump into the AEF vent channel to get the password for the server. All details are at the website below my Sig. It's better to play and learn with people online. This game is too good in multi-player to pass up. Happy Flying :)
  8. well we did our best to get the AEF DCS Australian Server up and running on a virtual box in a server farm, but we got 'virtual server - can not execute'. So until we get a physical server to play with then it's not going to happen just yet. Unless there is some way to get it working on a virtual box? I'd be keen to know if there is. In the meantime we will be hosting via a private connection for our sessions in AEF, and if it isn't passworded then the Australian DCS pilots are more then welcome to join in. Don't forget to jump into our Ventrilo channel because it helps us all get to know each other in the Oz DCS Community. This is the link to the AEF DCS Forums on our website. We have formed a team called the 161 (Recce) Squadron so pop on and say hi!! http://www.aef-hq.com.au/aef3/forum/viewforum.php?f=344
  9. Thanks for the video miguez. I learnt a lot about the start up and have it playing on the 2nd monitor while going through the steps on the primary 24" monitor. Been very helpful. Well done, and yes, I'd buy the DVD's (but having subscribed downloadable movie files would be better and cheaper for you, driving down cost and opening the market more???) Cheers.
  10. I got mine today at work (used their postal address as it where I am during the day) and that made my day. I think I converted my boss to the DCS Dark Side. Goodbye social life. But yeah, took about a week to OZ. Thanks ED. Condition is awesome.
  11. Just ordered a hardcopy from TFC. Can't wait. My PC hates it when I Alt + Tab. 10 days to Oz you think?
  12. The AEF DCS server is under construction. But once we have it up and running we will post here ASAP. We'll be running the ServMan Mod. Looking forward to flying with you all.
  13. I can't wait, loved your 'Edge' Black Shark movie.
  14. Hell Yes!!!!! I'll be keen for an Oz Server. If you are an Australian or NZ DCS Pilot then by all means, make your voice heard here in this thread.
  15. Continental tectonic plates moving?
  16. Great to see the interest in AEF from the DCS Australian community. I am also a member in the AEF and have been for a few years now. It’s quite a large clan that supports a number of titles, but DCS is what the simulator group is focusing on. (as well as BF2, BF2142, ArmA, IL2, CoD5 - it's a big clan) There is a good bunch of guys that have the game and we are learning and teaching each other how to use this thing. Sometimes the best way to learn is as a community. We use Ventrilo to chat over the net and communicate in the games we play. A DCS team is currently being formed, and I think it would be an exciting time to check out the clan as ideas are fresh and the team is new. We are all still very much learning the game and if you’ve just bought DCS and in the Australasian area then pop in and have a look around. http://www.aef-hq.com.au/aef3/
  17. Same here. Looking for a serious group (or interested in creating one) that will fly about 2-3 times a week, but I'll be flying more while I'm learning. Not sure what the online environment will be for us Pacific players but all us DCS Aussies should meet up in a single clan. Get hold of a 24hr server and get into the multiplayer in a big way.
  18. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32040 I think we'll all meet up somewhere and play.
  19. LOL
  20. That looks mad. Very keen to see this completed.
  21. ggg87, Allo, Burnziore throw me a PM when the game is released and I would love to have a few games with you guys. Good to see other Aussies on the forums.
  22. Is there other Australian Sim pilots keen to be a part of a group/clan to multiplayer this future title in a friendly group environment? Just wondering what the simulation community in Australia is like regarding this game. If your keen, let me know.
  23. By the US Navy, does that include the Marines? As DCS is a Helicopter simulator (at least at the moment) I’d thought I would pop in a few US Marine chopper names to see what you guys think. The AH-1 Cobra’s would be an important combat helicopter to choose. Old enough to have some plans, and released info. CH-53D’s. Ok it’s not a combat chopper (it's a medium lift chopper) but some of the best chopper sim flying can be had in these types of roles. You could do some cool Ops like the night flying Desert One mission (successfully), Operation Frequent Wind (rescue of the Mayaguez crew in Cambodia under very heavy fire), and others. Harriers. Because they are so cool. I know modelling VTOL will be an undertaking but I think it's a winner. Although a very hard one to play. Hornets. By far the most popular on this topic, and many countries (like Australia, Woot!!!) use these jets. So you would have a good market there. And of course, the F-14 Tomcat. Because I love this plane. It would be a very big money maker for DCS to think about including this one into the fold. It’s de-commissioned, and I think we all would like a realistic F-14 simulator. Please.
