  4. I think it's a nice idea.. There is a Lomac:FC campaign (flying the su-25T) with briefing videos before all of the 8 missions it contains, very nice campaign but I can't remember it's name (it's downloadable on lockonfiles). So videos can allready be added.. I think it'd be very nice if one could attach pictures to a briefing in a simple way, would be useful for reconphotos and whatnot..

I think the reason the gun has such a limited movement is because the sight can only move 35degrees off to either side, besides a single pilot can't be expected to operate the gun like the WSO of an apache/hind anyway - Therefore they mounted it in such a way that it is more accurate and produces less drag than if it would've been turret mounted.

I believe the effects of having the pointer projected on the actual cockpit model would make it quite confusing when you move your head around in 6dof (for example, if you have your pointer on the weapons panel and move your head from side to side, the pointer might pop up on the stick and then back on the panel as your head "swings by"). It'd probably be easier to hit the switches when the pointer is projected on the invisable sphere PhoenixBvo describes I thinks, eventhough it would move slightly when you move your head. In any case this idea is great I think!! :thumbup: I've been contemplating the possability of sticking a trackball to the stick, I think it would work well along with a pointer option like this..
  9. Wow! Very impressive, especially the water and clouds!! Will indeed be interesting to see what the new DCS engine brings graphics-wise. Lock-on, when it was first released struck me as a very good looking sim (IIRC :P ) as did Flanker 2 (IIRC)..

  14. Very true -skipper-! Just the possibility might add more "perspective" on the game world and help one immerse himself further. Very nice example there when flying without external views me thinks!
  15. Nice!! Is it an add-on for the cougar or a stand-alone joystick? Very nice to see something else than the US-style (CH and TM) or cyber/alien style (saitek) :D Is there any info in english? Can it be bought outside Russia?
  16. I would be very surprised if infantry shot at you when you're walking, I believe it's more of a little easter egg type thing. Probably (IMO) nothing changes except the camera, so AI will treat your aircraft just the same and won't see you.. Still useful for moviemakers and looking at the 23mm birdstrikes on your chopper :D

I kind of have the same plan, about trying not to crash. :D Adds to immersion me thinks when one tries hard not to crash, I would'nt go as far as to hurt myself when I do crash though :inv: :P I think getting outside might be pretty nice, maybe I'd enjoy a walk around the chopper pretending I'm doing preflight checks.. :D

  20. Interesting, thanks alot for the info!! :thumbup: XP it is then :) A 100 mission campaign sounds nice!! I suppose that means 100 "potential" missions as opposed to 100 stages of the campaign? Or am I simply confused about the campaign system.. :P I wish it was'nt so (because PC's are alot cheaper) and I don't want to be a mac-fanboy, but the fact is that for what I do (sound-design and music production) the mac is the best bang for the buck. I tried getting an XP-based system running Nuendo and a Motu audio-interface to work once (about a year ago), after a weekend of driver-related frustration it kinda worked, but I got paranoid from all the crashes. :P It's just not worth the hassle and my time to work on a PC, I'm happy with gaming and typing this on my PC though. I'm not a mac fanboy, I just use whatever works best for me.. :) (sorry for the OT)

  22. I'll also be building a new rig after BS is released (as in probably the same day :P).. My thoughts on 32 vs. 64 bit: I'll go with 64bit (assuming BS (and Fallout 3) runs on it) because I think any problems that we have now will be sorted out in the near future..
  23. I'd guess it works as in Lock-On? In Lockon there are trains and busses moving around IF you had "civilian traffic" enabled in the graphics settings, these can't be assigned as mission objectives. There are also stationary trains as part of the map, these can be assigned as mission objectives. But sometimes one can get LOD-related problems when using "map-objects" as targets, that is they fade in or pop in very late on some users settings.. So right now they're mostly immersion I thinks, very nice immersion though :) If they get placable in the future they'll be more useful me thinks..

  25. I can name you 3 people in the thread that has flown/fly's the sim I thinks.. Tree's are uncolidable in the first release :thumbup: I don't know about cats though But indeed it'll be a blast!!
