Yeah! Really appreciate all the information, makes us all a happy enthusiastic bunch!! :D And yes, the producers notes are super nice!! I've watched several times each also.. :)

Indeed I think so too.. People making decisions as to which helicopter to buy are still people, and marketing works on people. But the marketing impact a comercial simulator has on a military aircraft might be small I guess.. But surely it does a little relevant marketing for Kamov, even if it's imeasurably small :P

It'd sure be interesting to see how she does!! :) Does anyone have any info about that excercise? And when is it? It sure is a pity they get to fly so little.. :/ A relative of mine works at FLSC (a part FOI (fцrsvarets forsknings nеnting)), where they do tactical simulated excercises with 8 JAS-39 simulators. The simulators fly alot, and they do alot of testing and training.. But it's never the same thing as flying for real I thinks, us simulator nuts sure know that, hence our never-ending search for more immersion :P ie. Hotas setups, track-ir and now this butt-kicker thing lol
-
That's a great idea me thinks!!! Would be cool also if (for DCS:Apache ;) ) one could select a piece of the map prior to hitting "Fly" that would show up on the other kneeboard..
-
If you bought a super crappy audio system with a big subwoofer and a powerful amplifier you could make one yourself quite easily I thinks :) Can you set a low-pass filter to control at what frequency the butt kicker kicks?

I think it makes perfect sense for them to not start with the Hind because unlike the Ka-50 it's a twoseater so they'd have to work out how the player will interact with the other crewman, be it ai or coop. Also the thing that's so cool about the Hind: that it can transport troops and do medevacs etc would take some time to get right, realistic infantry would be a must for example.. And I believe infantry was decided to be included quite recently(?) When the ka-50 was already pretty much developed... A Hind at some point would be very nice though, but I'll be very happy with the Ka-50 (I actually payed them a huge sum of money to make my favourite helo :P )

How about including South Africa in Black Shark
-sulan- replied to Zulu's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I think the area BS is set in right now is great! Very nice geographically and it's a place where one could dream up all sorts of reasons for armed conflict, which makes it more immersive for me (absurd as it may be). As an addon, give me the baltics and an S-tank to shoot at :D Seriously though, a part of Africa would be nice I think (nicer than Iraq or Afghanistan). Some part of South America would also be cool, when we have Apache and A-10.. You could bomb some dope dealers, Soviet strategic missiles or something... -
Hi! I'm building right now, has been slow on progress lately though... I'm using an aluminum profile building system that comes in very handy for mechanical stuff (we use it at work so I snatch some "leftovers" every now and then). http://www.alucon.se/ Wish I had some pictures :/ Will try to get some when someone with a camera comes by here :D Would be nice to see your progress and good luck!!

Widescreen or regular monitor?
-sulan- replied to RedTiger's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use a Samsung Syncmaster [some letters and numbers] 22" widescreen which I'm very happy with. It has good contrast and very good response times (Samsungs specs are 3000:1 and 2ms), and on top of that it's also quite cheap (equivalent of 250-300€ or so I think it is now). To me it looks very good and is definetly good enough for my gaming needs, I'd recommend it. Have'nt had any trouble with it other than in games that have troubles with widescreens in general... I believe all 20" and 22" widescreens run 1650x1080 natively.. I'd like to get a 22" touch panel though, preferably just the touch panel since I allready have a screen, but I have'nt been able to find any bigger than 19"... Anyone knows about 22" (or bigger) touchpanels or touchscreens? -
That would indeed be nice! :)

1) Yes on the main site, I think you need a user account there also to download them though. 6) Yes 7) You can order your wingmen around like in Lockon.. It'd be very cool if you could use the data link to plot courses for them I thinks :) 9.) You can do some scripting in the mission editor with "triggers and events" which allows for some very cool and dynamic missions and campaigns to be created I thinks :)

I'm downloading it now :) Gonna get some coffee and watch :D

Exactly! It's the only game I've played that handles FF that way, like it should be. I also have an FFB2 and it's been going for 5 yrs and is working very well, good quality. They can be bought off Ebay I think, I'm thinking I might buy another as backup...

Awesome stick!! I'd be very interested to buy one, let us know when it's for sale!!! :)

What is your preferred combat helicopter and why??
-sulan- replied to - Piloto da Morte -'s topic in Military and Aviation
Ka-50, and it was even before this sim I swear :) I allways liked it because of it's rotors, and because it looks so "russian". Something about russian military aviation that looks very cool to me :D Huey is also a favourite! -
I think he just means that DCS:BS will be slightly heavier than Lomac:FC. I'm confident that my 4core macpro will run it nicely with its ati 1900[insert 2 letters]. I might get another graphics card though, if I feel I "need" it. So I don't think you should have any problems at all, you have a super duper computer!!! I would'nt worry :D

Speaking of triggers, what kinds of other triggers can we set? I mean can I trigger something when an object is destroyed? another flight completes it's mission? another flight/vehicle enters a trigger cylinder? weapon type such and so is fired? etc etc so on so fourth Also, can I trigger events I choose from a drop down list? Can i trigger lua scripts I wrote myself? Perhaps I can even write scripts and test them in the ME? So many questions :) I'd be glad if any dev or beta tester elaborated a little...
-
Do I get ivory pedals too? I'd also like to be able to turn off the popups, I might get a touch screen and in that case they're mostly an annoyance I'd guess... English labels in the cockpit, and no popup labels.. that's how I'll play if I can :) With the motivation that it's unrealistic to play I'm a russian pilot who does'nt understand my russian cockpit. Whatever floats your boat I say!!
-
hehe.. I also like to try and squeeze the most out of my system, but Vista was just too much hassle for me, it's probably much better now though. I've been thinking about giving it a go again.. One of the beta testers said he runs the sim fine with an AMD x2 4400+ and an nvidia 7950[insert 2 or 3 letters here] and 1 or 2 gb's ram, I can't be quoted on that though.. IIRC they mentioned in the same thread that intel processors were generally better for DCS (right now), or maybe they meant they are generally better in general :P Wish I could remember the thread.. It made me feel good because I have an AMD x2 4400+ also, and some 8600 card. But I plan to mostly run this sim on a quadcore macpro where I work (best "pc" and mac there ever were  ).

Awesome work Urze!!! What kind of pipe did you use? PVC? I've been thinking about doing a similar mod to my old Microsoft force feedback stick, on this stick though you can feel the stepper motors (I think it's stepper motors) used for the forces. And also the forces in the stick has alot of center play allthough the control input is very acurate and is without any center play at all.. Is that logitech force stick better in these regards? Looking forward to the tutorial!! Thx
-
Sweet! I hope so :) Very interesting thread btw me thinks!
-
I bet they'll say: "Wait till the sim is out or near release and you know the requirements etc for sure" ;) but I'm also curious.. I had a go with Vista 64bit a few months ago and spent a weekend trying to get my games to run on it (some did, some did'nt), in the end I was just annoyed by the "cancel or allow" thing and many other things. I'll upgrade at some point ofcourse, but certainly not now. For sure they'll make it run nice on both Vistas though I believe.

If I want to simulate me (who does not speak russian) being a russian Ka50 pilot (who does understand russian) the most realistic solution would be that I can understand the cockpit (swedish or english labels), just like the russian pilot does. I think that matters more to realism than wether the cockpit is labeled this or that language, but thats just me. Not much of an issue anyway, since you'll probably learn the cockpit by heart sooner or later... I would be happy with just being able to have the HUD in english though (like in LockOn)
-
A Russian pilot understands Russian, I don't, so in order to simulate that I'm a Russian pilot the best bet would be to translate to a language I understand, see? :) Personally I don't care so much for an english cockpit or Nadia, however I think it'd be nice to have the option of english radio traffic...
