  1. Yep that's right, he did, I read... So the faster you fly the closer the rotors get to each other? since "forward moving" blades has more lift than the retreating blades? Then when applying right rudder the rotors come even closer to each other since it yaw's by differentiating the AoA between the rotors. Does yawing to the left at high speed put the rotors noticably farther apart? Am I confused?
  2. What a cheesy promotion film, the speaker talks about killing an infantry platoon with thousands of fragments as one would talk about how revolutionary the cleaning power is of that new cleaning related product.. Pretty scary round indeed, I shall respect it if it enters DCS. :)
  3. It does'nt happen if you keep it within normal flight parameters, and it is modeled in the sim. :D Does'nt maneuvering in negetive G's screw up most helicopters?
  4. hehe, put a combat load on it and it's not so quick any longer (the Gripen). Fully loaded with one drop tank, 2 GBU 12´s, 2 aim-120´s and 2 aim-9's the C version just passes Mach 1 so she's kind of slow really :) The E/F/N version is to have a more powerful engine though, and more fuel.. I think there was even talk of a thrust vectoring engine before.. It's cool though that such a small plane can carry so much, especially the new one. Does anyone know if the new one will still be able to operate from 500 meters of road and all that? Did they keep the same demands on minimal maintanance?
  5. Because if you dropped a cluster bomb on say a FARP for instance, there would be alot of physics calculations to do of which you'll probably only see a few of.. BUT a nice animation of the sandbags flying about could do just as well in a flight sim I think since you won't see it close up (especially if there were more than one for some variation), you'd record the animations using a physics engine I thinks. But offcourse if they did use a physics engine for this type of thing it would be mostly eye candy I thinks, and could be scalable by the user.. Being eye candy, you would'nt need to sync it in multiplayer which is otherwise rather tricksy...
  6. Perhaps fear of more maintanance or other complications? But the Ka-50 (and other Kamov helo's) has proved that's not necessarily the case(?)
  7. Yeah I believe the Harrier only has 60-90 seconds or so of hovering due to it's watercooling.. Would be pretty cool though if this was'nt the case, as in true lies :D Very interesting discussion!
  8. Oh, the sandbags just needs a good texture is all :) Very nice screenshots me thinks!!
  9. Yes a freeze feature seams like a good idea I thinks as wells!! Obviously would'nt be possible in multiplayer (which is where the real immersive and nerve-wrecking action takes place (for me anyway)).. Another question, does DCS use the same sound-engine/library? I have alot of trouble getting sound to work properly in LO:FC (things like certain sounds dropping in and out at random, odd pitch changes in engine sound (not related to throttle changes or doppler effect) etc etc)... So basically, should I expect to have the similar issues in BS?
  10. I wish someone would make a decent FFB stick, my trusty old ms FFB2 is finally wearing out after some 6 yrs or so. I used to have a CH force feedback stick, same F-16 type as the ones they have now.. I believe it was the first force feedback stick and it was really good, a reissue of it with usb and less gigantic base would be sweet!! :)
  11. Oh.. Well the N and E is the same plane I thinks.. Not sure though, anyway it'd be nice if someone would buy it :P
  12. Thanks for the insight!! Very interesting!! Any word on how detailed it is in the sim?
  13. Nice environmental sounds are allways welcome, but I think the sounds of the actual machine are more important.. Can you hear if the gearbox is screwing up for example? Stuff like that... Is it a factor when flying real choppers? I mean listening to the machine and hearing if somethings wrong?? How does DCS handle this?? Please elaborate anyone!! :) BTW A special edition would indeed be nice, especially if there was a printed manual and flight charts!!
  14. Have'nt got time to read the whole thread (work), but I had the exact same looking clouds. I reverted back to a year old graphics drivers and all was fine again (I have Nvidia 8600[insert two letters] and AMD. Hope it helps..
  15. We have plenty of Gripen-A's for sale, if Norway buys the E that is (because then Sweden would change to the E also I heard (?)) :D But Brazil should get the new one me thinks!
  16. I'd also like to see a more intuitive GUI, allthough I'm getting used to LO's GUI it was quite confusing sometimes before.. I think it'd be nice if I could place symbols, notes, draw killboxes etc on the briefing map. As well as display pictures and videos as part of the briefing, and having these things work the same for coop mission briefings. I think those things are very important because if used well by the mission designer, it can take the immersion alot further..
  17. JAS-39A would be nice!! But that probably can't happen(no info).. A Harrier of any variant would be awesome me thinks!! :)
  18. Hi! I am thinking about a new rig as well. Allthough I'll wait until BS is released, I had a look around anyway at what I'd get if I were to upgrade right now.. Some Mobo with a P45 or X48 chipset, preferably micro-ATX (so far I've not found a micro-ATX mobo that suits me though). Radeon HD4870 or GTX260 (can get the latter almost as cheap, I figure since I won't be buying yet I'll just wait and see which card seams the better). E-8400 and 2 gigs 800mhz CL5 ram (adds up to 4gb total with what I allready have), I just get the cheapest corsair ram.. I won't bother getting into CL-this CL-that since it seams to make a small difference.. Like others have said though, take your time and read a bunch of reviews and so on and be in the loop for a month before you buy. Good luck!! :)
  19. Works now :) Thx Poko!! Did'nt realise I can't start recording during the mission before..
  20. Sweet!! Very beautiful!!
  21. Oh, did'nt realise that.. Then ATI it is :) Last ATI I had was a Radeon 9800.. That was a great card!!
  22. Thx guys!! That makes me very happy since I can then use my current PSU :) I read a couple of those reviews, seams like a very good value cards the 4850 and 70.. Allthough, over here I could get a (640mhz, 896mb) gtx 260 for only 40 euro's more than the 512mb 4870.. hm... decisions.. decisions.. What do you think?
  23. That new ATI-4870 looks like a bargain!(?) :) Any educated guesses as to how much juice your PSU would need for one of those?
  24. Hello! Searched about this but did'nt find an answer to as basic a question as this.. Recently started playing multiplayer with my brother, lots of fun!! :) So it'd be fun to record some tracks some times to look at attacks, formation landings, pro's and con's in our tactics etc... But I can't even find the key commands to record :P I only find a whole bunch of commands for editing(?)... Any help appreciated!
