Radar antenna elevation freezes and B-scan is "recentered" based on TDC cursor position when changing a2a weapon while radar is TRYING to take a lock on something. Easiest way to reproduce is to point aircrafts nose to somewhere where there isn't any radar contacts, move the TDC close to the edge of B-scan, command STT lock, change a2a weapon and then undesignate. After that antenna elevation can not be moved and B-scan is centered to where TDC was when commanding a STT lock. f-18 radar issue.trk

[REPORTED] Radar ceases to work + Elevation problems
Kapsu replied to skoner's topic in Bugs and Problems
Automatic range scale adjustment causing antenna elevation freeze Already reported on other thread but since that thread is closed and i think i found what is causing antenna elevation not responding anymore i thought to make a new thread if it's any help. Like title says every time radar adjusts range scale automatically then antenna elevation stops working after the radar lock is dropped or lost but if range scale stays the same when lock is dropped then antenna elevation is working just fine. On attached short track i lock a close target on 40 miles scope and radar automatically adjust the scope to 20 miles, but after undesignating the target i can't move antenna elevation up or down anymore. f-18 antenna elevation freeze.trk -
[REPORTED] Radar ceases to work + Elevation problems
Kapsu replied to skoner's topic in Bugs and Problems
I can confirm both of these issues. Freezing seems to be pretty random and it did it before this patch but now it does a lot more often than before. -
It's centered on your view (which is good IMO), centering your view to HUD is one way to "fix" this.

That's a swiss specific modification, no other legacy Hornet user use that. Note that the pylon itself is completely different.

DCS: F/A-18C Screenshots and Videos (NO DISCUSSION)

No ILS? No problem! -
After todays patch radar can't lock or can't keep the lock on incoming targets when using medium PRF, not even in boresight mode and in very close distance as shown in the track. As far as i know ACM modes always use medium PRF (another bug since it can be changed now) so this bug makes ACM modes and MED PRF itself almost completely useless which is pretty major bug IMHO.

Only red, green and yellow AFAIK.

The low drag outer wing pylon shown on the pic you posted definitely is a swiss specific mod. Launcher might be lau-127 or something else, i don't know for sure. Another pic showing the low drag pylon.
-
That pylon/launcher is swiss specific modification, no other hornet user uses them and i highly doupt we will see those in DCS.

Apart from the target switching issue radar keeps the lock pretty well now IMO.

Callsign: SF_Kapsu Nationality: Finnish Squadron: SF Squadron Location: Finland DCS branch: Open Beta If stable and open beta are on different versions which one we are going to use? My vote goes to OB for latest Hornet goodies. Also fuel dumping is synced between clients now so if no fuel dumping allowed would be more preferable way now it's possible to do that since we can see if someone is dumping fuel.

Press undesignate, radar will go to previous search mode.

By default Hornet uses magnetic heading but you can change that to true heading in HSI-> DATA-> A/C page. EDIT: Sniped :D

On ALE-47 variants that use square calibres yes, but Hornet uses cylindrical calibres on which chaff and flares are same size so should be 30 flares per bucket. I found this pdf listing all(?) flares US navy uses and most of them are cylindrical, scroll down to page 14 for IR decoy flares. http://navybmr.com/study%20material/14313a/14313A_ch4.pdf Not from F-18, but Hornet uses same CM magazine.
-
Few other countermeasure related bugs; Total amount of flares is wrong AFAIK, now it's 15 flares per bucket while it should be 30 just like chaff on the F/A-18. On bypass mode 2 flares are dropped simultaneously isntead of one, is this intended or bug? Rearming won't load chaff and flares.
-
AFAIK it depends on type of countermeasure calibre used, square or cylindrical. On square one flares take 2 slots (at least some flares) and on cylindrical one flares take only one slot just like chaff. Correct me if i'm wrong but F-18 always use cylindrical ones so it should be possible to load 120 flares.

To you MP competitive pilots, how is VR vs TrackIR
Kapsu replied to falcon_120's topic in Virtual Reality
TIR beats VR (at least Rift CV1) 100-0 in combat effectiveness IMHO. I never played with Rift that much that i would have got used to it and biggest reason why i didn't was the poor resolution of it which brings pretty huge disadvantage in PvP. But i belong to the minority who aren't impressed with current VR tech anyway so others might have different opinions. -
Same thing on the in-game menu and mission editor, no a2a weapons on inner wing pylons. 14:50 on this stream for example.
-
In MagzTV's latest Hornet video A2A weapons are missing from inner wing pylons, is this just an alpha thing or why it's like that? 4:50 for available weapons.
-
Hopefully it means that ED is redoing A2A missiles in general.

Thank you 36 for good fight! Outcome of the first round was unfortunate for you but rules are rules in the end. And of course thank you 51st for hosting! Also big thumbs up for using LotAtc on SATAL, it worked really well for us and it definitely adds a lot to this tournament
