Cloud rotating and disappearing
Winston 60 replied to Pochi's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
Just so everybody is aware... there was no cloud problem in 1.5.5. There was an instance of this problem some time ago at least once before and it was fixed by ED in rather short order. This cloud bug was introduced (again) when ED tried to improve the clouds in 1.5.6. It would be shame if they left this nasty bug in place for us to deal with until the 2.5 merge. That's too far away and this bug is just too darn distracting/annoying. IMHO the old clouds from 1.5.5 should be rolled back in if possible while we wait for the merge instead of just ignoring this bug. :helpsmilie: -
Cloud rotating and disappearing

This bug has caused my current efforts in mission building using heavy weather to come to a grinding halt. Since this is a reoccurring bug (we've had this exact same problem before) I was thinking ED had a pretty good idea of what is causing it and would spend some time to fix it. Plus the fact that ED doesn't list all fixes in the change log text, it would be great if this can be confirmed fixed or not fixed please. If not I'll just wait a week or so to see for myself in the stable release version. I was just hoping to be able to complete and release another carrier mission for the stable release version before having to pack up my household for a cross country move. -
Can someone check to see if the swirling, rotating, disappearing clouds have been fixed? Easily noticeable in med to heavy clouds (5 to 8 setting in mission editor). Could bug discussion topic: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=183516

Cloud rotating and disappearing

Please can somebody using the open beta 1.5.6.3690 Update 1 check to see if this is fixed or not? There's no mention of it having been fixed in the change log. -
Keep ECM on or off after missile launch (during defensive)?

Missile Mod 3.0, which you're linking to, is obsolete. -
PM sent. Thanks SiThSpAwN for looking into this for us. Note that BIGNEWY has already reported many of these for us weeks ago. I've sent you some links to the bug reports we've made for 1.5.6 (note that nearly all of these were not present in ver 1.5.5). Yes, I realize that the open beta will get them first so I hope something is in the pipeline very soon. Again... thanks!

 No problem, we understand this, all fixes are good and it's nice that Alpha users can now enjoy the sim again. Just pleading that the stable release is in need of many fixes for serious bugs and issues that we've reported over the last 6 weeks so we can begin to enjoy our version again. :helpsmilie:

ED, thanks... but please... how about giving some attention to the buggy stable release version now. Official patches to a buggy Alpha release ver 2.0.5 in March = 3 Official patches to a buggy Stable release ver 1.5.6 in March = 0

I believe I see two of the 4 way hats, the other two look like 2 way switches. Is one of them actually the third 4 way hat?
-
Thanks Ironhand. I didn't know this was the cue for this new bomb fall line. It would be nice if ED would document some of these things when they implement a new feature. I'll keep this in mind if I ever get back in the Su-33 but for now after 6 weeks and no patch to the buggy stable release version 1.5.6.1938, all my carrier missions are FUBAR. :joystick:

* +1 * Agreed. * And still no word of any patch to fix the many bugs reported for stable release version 1.5.6.1938 after 6 weeks of multiplayer frustration. :cry_2:

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
Winston 60 replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Installing one of their own grips should be even easier than installing a TM grip using the VKB adapter. It's the use of the device config software that was the problem for me. Better/proper English instructions are sorely needed to ensure you get the correct profile and flash it correctly. Instructions to do this that are created with translator software leaves the 'lost in translation' problems that there are now. -
Mission 3 bug reported. I know it's hard to fly these carrier missions with the current bugs in stable release version 1.5.6, but this was reported to me twice already so I thought I would explain it to any who are flying this. Bug report: Sometimes the on call F-18's do not takeoff when called in via the F10 menu. They respond positively when called, but never taxi to the runway. Answer:

Stable release version 1.5.6 is also currently full of bugs and problems. It is very frustrating and also not especially reliable at the present time.

Bump. Is 2.5 so close that the Stable(Ha!)Release Version is ignored yet again? I really hope so but I'm also so very sad that I have to play with such a buggy 1.5.6 release version. Did I just say that out loud?

Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)
Winston 60 replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
Exactly, and perhaps VKB or some user can/will develop more comprehensive instructions for the device config software on how to make the TM grips actually work! I think when the Gunfighter buyers start attaching their TM grips the need for better documentation will become more apparent. :joystick: -
Introducing the VKB-Sim ‘Modern Combat Grip’ (MCG)

That's great news. I'll buy one as soon as it comes pre-installed on a Gladiator or Gunfighter. -

Winston 60 replied to rrohde's topic in VKB-SIM Flight Gear
rrohde, do you think this grip will eventually be offered pre-installed on the Gladiator's and Gunfighter's? I found the VKB device config software impossible to use and could not get a Cougar grip adapted to a Gladiator Pro Mk. II base working at all. I think some proper English instructions for the device config software (not via translator) would be absolutely necessary for VKB to have to go along with these grips. -
UN Convoy - Multiplayer Mission

Yes, intellectual property is the issue here. When people post files here, there's a "License" box in the DCS upload form (see pic below). It asks the author to select how he wants his files protected. Two of the choices are: 1. Freeware - Free version, Unlimited distribution. 2. Freeware - Free version, Do Not redistribute. Unless this means something entirely different than these written words, I expect if I select "Freeware - Free version, Do Not redistribute." this means I'm stating that I do not want any part or the whole of my intellectual property reposted or disseminated in any way including having parts of the property ripped out and then used in someone else's work. When Ranger79 uploaded his "Operation Piercing Fury - 01: Welcome to Suse" mission on 19.11.2013, he selected "Freeware - Free version, Unlimited distribution" so it seems he didn't mind if the mission were uploaded elsewhere, but really he's the only one that would have to make a complaint about his voiceovers being ripped out of the mission and reused in someone else's work without permission. -

How will the "4 buttons" switch work? Will it be up/down/left/right? The way it is molded, it looks like an up/down only switch. How could you get 4 buttons in an up/down only switch? Yes, the lack of a pinky/modifier switch could be a real reason not to buy. I'll bet if they had gotten input from users on this omission, they would have incorporated it into this grip. This should be added in future ver 2 products.
