I'm noticing the SAMs are much harder to defeat, i think it is the patch, but i haven't played much so it could be from the final release. In the betas the SAMs were too easy to defeat in my ignorant opinion, even on excellent skill level. Turn away, release countermeasures and you almost always defeated the missile. Now I'm finding them a complete bitch... i'm curious to what has changed?.. there is no mention of them being tweaked in the change log. It seems to me that they are releasing their missile when you are deeper into their threat envelope, but this is just my perception.

Random Mission Framework Druid great idea... however there is one massive draw back, there is no way to integrate or import other peoples trigger systems. You have to copy them manually or use them in isolation to anything else. I have tried adding one part of a mission to another via editing the mission file when you unzip the miz.. but i failed to do this without corrupting the mission. This will always be 'work in progress'. If i wait for it not to be to share, it'll never be shared. ;) This is not for the uninitiated mission maker, this is in fact pretty complicated. To be honest, i expect it to be a little daunting to the majority as you have not built up the trigger system from scratch, please ask any questions you may have. Main Goal: This structure allows you to make a mission that can be played over and over again, and you won't know what the next task is or where the potential threats are. With 256 variations this should work well. The mission should also always be balanced, as there are NO random triggers, you can control the mission precisely. Explanation: (excuse me if this is a little long winded, it's not easy to explain) This is a template for a mission structure. To be honest it is not random, it is in fact very structured with equal odds of any one scenario be active. It will allow for a minimum of 256 different scenarios from one mission. It allows for 12 tasking, any 3 of which will be run in any one running of the mission. At the mission start there is a pool of 4 tasks, any one of these has a 1 in 4 chance of being selected. Once this task has been completed there is a another pool of 4 tasks, of which there is a 1 in 4 chance of selection. This occurs 3 times, i.e the 3 tasking per mission. There is also a system to allow for a pool of 4 mission threats & environments. There is a 1 in 4 chance of these being selected. So this gives you 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 x 1/4 = 256 variations. If you follow it as i intended. It can of course be used in different ways. And please alter it as you wish. The template has 1 player & 7 client slots included. So it can be a SP or MP 8 coop mission. This of course can be expanded. I have provided an excel sheet to go along with it, this should help you understand it a lot. The excel file has two sheets, one called Logic has the template trigger system written out. In order to make the mission you have to add all the taskings yourself, and all the tasking success criteria. And all the threat & environment (group activations) too. Where this is required there is red font. I have also colour coordinated trigger types to help make it easier to follow. Most of the 'message to all' are just place holders for mission creation. The second sheet, called Data, is what i use to add the missions & threats. It helps me keep track what has been placed. This is basically empty, be ready to be used with this template. It may be of no use to you. As i said if you like the look of it and have further questions post away, but at this stage i won't spend ages explaining the details of the template unless there is genuine interest in it. Its just too complicated. I hope if you are familiar with triggers & the editor and with the help of the excel file this might help you create some diverse missions. If you have any suggesting for better way of doing things i'd love to hear them. But please remember this framework is designed to work under all the betas and MP environment, so i have tried to use a fool proof trigger structure. The excel has been attached as a zip due to attachment constraints. I can't attach the same files to two posts.. so you can download them from the linked thread. -
Below is an extract from the excel sheet i used to make the mission: Flags 50, 60, 70 & 80 represent the threat environments. There are 4 separate 'environment' layouts, these are independent of the tasks. The environment is made up of SAMs, AAA, convoys, and fluff. One of the four 'environments' is activated at the mission start. Lets call these A, B, C & D. There are also four sets of tasks, each containing four individual tasks, say E, F, G & H So one time you might get environment B with task G. The next time you play the mission you might get environment A with task H. So there are a fair few different scenarios possible. So its not random in the true meaning of the word, but it is variable. So yes the SAMs move around. I had planned to use the Add Radio Item to allow clients to call on SEAD help when they wanted it.. but unfortunately this trigger does not work in multiplayer. But i'll think about other ways to do this for a future version.

^^ that was a problem on an early version, there is an error with a trigger. Either download it again or if you want use this version attached.. It has some new tasks. The trigger pointed to the road block static.. which appears to be indestructible, as you have found out, rather than the group that it should have been set to. +1 The release does have a lot of bugs. No doubt about it. You have to question ED supposed pursuit of excellence with regards to 'it'll be done when its done', when for example Wags stated the next release would not be a final version only for them to release it as a final version with numerous significant bugs. It does feel more like 'it'll be done when we need the money generated by its official release'. I understand ED need to make their money etc, i'm not naive, I don't blame them, but if they were just a little candid it would go a long way. Many here just can't hear a negative thing said towards ED, no one is perfect. It reminds me of Apple users. Join Date: Oct 2010 :music_whistling:

Typically inane response and a typically poorly veiled insult., but what else can one expect from you. This point that is raised whenever ED's flow on info is discussed all sounds rather childish. A very odd reaction from a company. It is a shame. -
The mission needs updating, there have been some changes to the radios frequencies allowed by flights. The threats are independent of the targets, and yes sometime it can be very difficult to get close enough to the hangers.. however i'd suggest you persist as whie it may be tough it is very possible. But you can edit it as you want, i don't care. If you use teamwork it is more than possible.. flying as solos might make it near impossible if you get the worst possible threat configuration. ^^ This and teamwork are what's needed...basically you might need to 'distract & deplete' the threats OR fly LOOOW. Its not always easy.. but that is what i like about it myself. But when i have time i'll post up a new version.... PS i did post up a low threat version.

I certainly agree there are always questions and reported issues that could easily be addressed via the manual or forum search function. I certainly don't expect ED to take time addressing these and i accept also that genuinely relevant & important queries/questions will always be missed amongst them. So yes it will take a bit of effort to sort the wheat from the chaff. However ED makes far too little effort to pass relevant information on to user. I'll give you a couple of examples. (removed) You say ED don't communicate because they have been 'burnt in the past', well i'm not surprised, maybe if they did what they they intend to do OR say something when they can't achieve what they say they are gonna do, this would not happen. People understand intentions cant always be achieved. But stating something, not doing it and then stone walling the issues is not helpful. It is great if the testers are doing as you say, and filter the forums to the DEVs, if that is the case you'd think the DEVs might be able to respond to some of the issues without wasting too much time over it. Anyway, i just thought it was fairly comical changing the 'problems' forum to 'tech support' when so little official support is visible. And i am grateful for the help that the 'insiders' give, be it testers, mods or the odd DEV, but i think on the whole, communication & help form the 'team' is very poor. EDIT, removed examples..: i don't intend this to be a rant.. i'm just trying to point out what it is like from the other side of the wall of silence. -

What does this have to do with testers or moderators? Unless i'm mistaken they are not part of ED as a company. There input if much appreciated as is input from other knowledgeable members of this community. They do not speak for ED nor can or should they. I assumed moderators moderate these forums & testers test builds. Both are voluntary and give up their own time to do so... i certainly don't expect them to be providing technical support or answer valid questions about this complicated simulator. You might think that answering customers questions is a 'waste of their precious time' however I certainly don't and would be amazed if i'm the only one who feels this way. Offering support is just as important as fixing issues. They are both very important to quality of the product and customers enjoyment of it. There is next to no communication from ED regarding issues, support or ongoing fixes, that is what i'd like to see improved. The release version is not shy of issues & bugs of which ED say next nothing about or give any indication of the chance these will be fixed. The lack of communication from December and the imitate release of Beta5 to this point has been near total. I have all of ED products & promote them to other gamers... but there are some things they do not do well.. one of those is communication & support. -
Shouldn't this section be called community support rather than technicial support. Technical support actually makes it sound like there is some sort of support offered by ED. But all i see is customers helping each other, no input from ED whatsover on these boards. It would be nice if ED attempted to answer even some of the many valid questions that customers have asked recently. (fanboys please flame away, i'm wearing my flame proof suit today :))

I'll try from memory: Click WP button on CDU. Click Waypoint FSK Click ?(number) i.e ?5 on the right side. (This copies the last WP, that you will then enter) Click the L/L button to input UTM or leave it to enter Lat/Long Enter your coordiates via the scratchpad Click the bottom left FSK button to enter coordinates. Click FPM button Click top right FSK button to edit Flight Plan Go to end of flight plan, most likely have to press Page Down to get there. - (say you have 5 waypoints and you want to enter a 6th) Press 6 on the scratch pad Click the appropiate FSK button on the left that is lined up with the empty waypoint. Check it on TAD. And you are done. There are other settings you can do, steer to / from etc, elevation.. but the above will get the basics sorted for you. (i'm away and this is the best i can do, cant take screen shots etc.. hope this helps though)

robnpat i was very overwhelmed for several weeks... but now I'm very comfortable with the A10c... it took me a few weeks to absorb enough data to enjoy it. Just practice individual small elements and they will soon all fit together. -
On uninstalling, there were a several *ogg files left in the DCS folder.. it would appear i must have accidentally moved some while looking for resources for mission building. And as a bonus i didn't have to do any reconfiguring of controls or options.. sweet.

I no longer hear certain alarm tones: Master Caution Tone Raise Landing Gear Tone Ground Collision These seem to be the only sounds affected. But i cant be 100% sure of that. I do hear missile launch warnings. The only files i have altered are a few *res files to fix multi-screen display issues. I have checked my Sound Options, nothing odd there. Anyone else with this issue? I did have these alarms and one day they disappeared. Only thing i can think of is to reinstall. Any other options / ideas? (x-fi extreme music card, Win7 (x64))

No.. your logic is wrong. You cannot have nor do you need negative numbers. Make the centre viewport x = 1680, y = 0. As a starting point, assuming your 22" is 1680x1050 EDIT: And have your MFCD at something like x=0, y=150 & x=840, y=150 At 840x840. -

Yes...TAD as SOI..but i think its TMS right long.... its damn useful, use it often. :)
