  3. That's all well and good Sith, but I think the point IronMike is trying to make is that its not fair that the devs are the ones that get to define what is fair and what is not. Id like to see the server admins and hosts be the ones to be able to define if terrain mods are allowed etc. To have an all or none solution is detrimental, in my eyes, to what DCS as a multiplayer experience has become. Use Arma 3 for example. The server admins have all of the power and Bohemia has given it to them. The admins are the ones that are able to define what is allowed and what is not and it enables them to give a specific experience that they, as admins deem appropriate.
  4. I don't see anyone in that server saying anything about crashing though just performance. I wish ED would be more forthcoming with patch notes instead of just the stuff about aircraft.
  5. Nothing that you just said has anything to do with texture mods. I don't even think you can edit all of the stuff you even brought up. Texture mods don't edit the shadows. They simply change the texture files nothing more and nothing less. Liveries on planes I don't believe can be changed as it is the server that shows them. Also, the IC already prohibits a lot of things that are game breaking from being changed. If the stuff that you brought up really exists, please show me as I am sure it doesn't work anymore so you wont have to worry about anyone abusing it, but it sounds like you just named things that you thought would give people an advantage without showing any proof that anyone actually used it. The only one that I know of is people running winter only textures, but I still don't see that as really an issue. If it makes them feel like they can spot things easier then so be it.

  7. You can't compare BF and other DCS servers to pro sporting events. Hell, you can't even compare them to little league. People pay money in both of those environments for a far playing field and they know what they are getting when the pay. We don't pay for BF or any other servers. We get on to have fun. There are tons of other multiplayer games including games like Arma that allow servers to choose what they want. Just because you think its manipulation based on what you have seen does not mean it should go how you want it. Most people that use mods do it to better their experience and make it so that the game is closer to real life. If you want to use real life as an example go ahead, but I could counter and say I could get lasik eye surgery to get 20/10 vision so I can spot targets further away. Is that mod cheating? Hell, not every person is going to see the world the same way even in your comparison to real life. Just let people do what they want and if, again, the server admins want to tailor an experience let them do it, but don't enforce it from the devs that is bullshit and leads to nothing but issues. I know people push the limits on what textures like snow etc are used, but ED could have found a way to enforce certain seasons instead of just taking everything away.We are playing a game, that for a long time has been built on the ability to use mods. It allows people to get things how they want it for planes and experiences that they want. taking that away is going to cause issues in the DCS community whether you like it or not.
  8. Nasty feature? There is nothing wrong with starway, barthek, mustang, or pickskings textures. People like them because EDs default map looks like crap. You guys can be on the hate train all you want, but a lot of people use them. There are tons of other mods that are allowed. Furthermore it should be up to the server teams to decide what is allowed and what is not and not ED. If the BF admins wanted to say no more texture packs, fine, but having the devs say that is pushing the line.

  10. It fixes it. My tests were on servers outside of buddyspike. At least I'm pretty sure it does.
  11. Changing over to Mustang's new pack has fixed my issues. If anyone is encountering problems with "Tainted Client" and is running a texture pack try his.

  13. Yep, looks like tainted client, at least on my end, is being caused by texture packs. Had green shield on Integrity Check, loaded a server, and then BAM "Tainted Client" listing a ton of texture files.
  14. Yeah, I believe there are some issues with the integrity check at the moment. Im getting an error for "textures/moon" I have no idea where that file is as that directory doesn't even exist in my JSGME setup. Tried removing what I thought it was and am still having the same issue. Hopefully, if its an ED issue, it gets fixed quickly.
  15. I think there was a change for where the troops were supposed to spawn. Maybe they broke the spawn script for troops? Of course this is only speculation on my part.
  16. There was also a substantial amount of lag during that session. It lasted for 5 to 10 minutes and then went away. Not sure what caused it.

  18. So the server just needs the vehicle loaded only once? I was under the impression it had to be on the server at all times. Guess I was mistaken.
  19. Judging by those stats were you able to get the aircraft added to the server as one offs to see if it decreases lag? Looks like you did based on what units are on the server. I believe I see one of each of the aircraft. If you did add them are they off of the airfields? Sorry if I missed a post where you explained this.
  20. Here is my opinion on how to handle that. Take the issue to the admins and when they're done investigating or what have you allow them to address the community on what the issue was and what was done. I agree that people need to know, but spreading the word while the issue is going on is going to cause problems. At least that's how I see it.
  21. Again, just because you say someone is something doesn't make it true. Issues, if you have them with exploiting or cheating, need to be addressed with the server admins in a private manor. This should be done with any exploits as it gives the admins the ability to catch it. If you address everything public it gives the guy an opportunity to hide or change the way he's going about it.
  22. How are you sure they are on the other team? Did you confirm it with the player or are people just making assumptions based on people sitting in GCI slots and being unresponsive? People have a tendency of sitting idle in GCI slots. Not saying that is what is happening, but unless they told you or you have access to the back end to get IPs for usernames all you're doing is making assumptions based on feelings and emotions and that will lead nowhere but bad places. I speak from experience as I used to fly and GCI at the same time. I would call bandits, give vectors, etc while flying. I always told people what I was doing when I was doing it if they asked. Idon't do this anymore. I talked with people and decided to stop as people did not like it. I'm not going to say how I did it as I don't want to promote exploits, however, being on both teams, red and blue, was not possible using my method. Both had to be on the same team.
  23. Maybe putting all units, including troops In one of the dark corners of map? Jets, helis, troops, vics, everything. Just put them on one of the teams and throw them in a far corner at mission start. I think the test of having players spawn in new unused aircraft is worth it too.
  24. I don't know that I've seen the jitter lag all the much. Most of the time it is the sporadic warping, very heavy lag, that happens occasionally. At least that had been my experience.
