I could swear that after the last update, the gaz FM changed. I thought it was my imagination, since I could find no info about it on the forums or update description. Then, someone on a multiplayer server said there was indeed a change...? He said it was something about trying tech from the Kiowa. Honestly, it just feels sluggish and overall much worse. Will someone please fill me in here?

Unpopular Opinion: Release the Kiowa soon, before it is completely finalized. For all we know, everyone with a triple-digit IQ could be locked in a gulag by that point. FM, basic weapons, I'm good to go.

Thanks! I've had a blast with the L version. I couldn't get my game audio to record, it would have been better with that 20mm cannon. What a sound. Yes, I wish we had a heli server set up in Normandy. Its an amazing map down at treetop level. You should check out that drummer's channel...Only for those with discerning tastes, apparently...LOL

We need solid and reasonable time frames for the Gaz update and the Kiowa release. These endless years of being strung along are F-ing ridiculous.

The update mentioned that the Mi24 would be the "next helicopter" to come to DCS. Does this mean it will be released before the Kiowa? That would be surprising - the Kiowa is already being demo'd on livestreams and we haven't seen an exterior model for the Hind...

Hello I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Virpil's re stocking day. Tomorrow they are supposed to re stock at 11 am my time, and I'm wondering how close to that time I actually will need to order. I don't want to miss out, but also don't want to take the little break off work if they aren't very punctual about it... I'm torn between the Warbird grip and Mongoose, and planning on getting the Warbird base and desk mounts. Hope to replace my x52 throttle and pedals eventually, too. Thanks

Polychop has admitted that the FM needs a major overhaul. Appeals to experts are fraught with all kinds of biases and ingroup/outgroup signaling, politics, etc. No one who claims the FM is good will address the basic issues with the cyclic dynamics, on-rails tracking, etc. If it wasn't for the fanboys and people with really low standards being so vocal, we might have a decent one by now, who knows.

Hi Quigon, I'm pretty sure I tried doing fuel+flare request at once and separately. I can experiment with that later. Does having the engine running/doors open affect this? I had side doors open. Thanks for your help Scarecrow

Ok, so I actually got them to work in single player. I'm really not sure what happened, maybe they weren't loaded in the editor before. In multiplayer (aerobatics online) I couldn't get them to load this morning at Beslan. I tried while the Huey was running and shut down. I could refuel. I got a "cannot comply" message from ground crew when trying for flares...It seems like what would happen when trying to load weapons in a non combat server, maybe? I have seen plenty of people use flares in the Huey on that server. Someone today mentioned they have had trouble with it as well. Yes, it is. Helicopter aerodynamics are insanely complicated. For one thing, the machine isn't grounded or "on rails" in any way like you could (sort of, minus wind, etc.) say about a fixed wing craft moving at high speed. I've even heard that due to some gyroscopic effect I don't understand, the rotor head wants to fly something like 45degrees off heading, so this effect has to be compensated for in the hub design. It's amazing to me that they can model autorotation...just look up a flight training manual on that subject. Until we can have flight models based on fluid dynamics (i.e. just model the aircraft body surfaces and mass distribution as in real life, and let it fly based on calculated interactions with modeled air particles, gravity constants, inertia calcs, etc.), the Huey flight model is as good as we can expect in my opinion. I think its fun as hell myself. Don't forget to look up Dunning Krueger...It explains a great deal of the modern world.

You mean my f8>f1 menu? It is set to full (60) flares. I've tried in multiplayer and single player, no luck. They don't show up on the tail. I set the radio to "INT" as well...Also tried repairing DCS. I could almost swear this has been the case since I started flying the Huey in 2014. I can't get my Huey to dispense flares. They show up on my f8 menu as loaded, and I have them armed. I try my mapped button and the default left ctrl +c, and nothing. I cant get them to show up on the tail at all. I could almost swear this has been the case for years and would explain why I never learned to use flares in the huey after trying years ago. Thanks for any help.
