I know. But here I should have more chances of finding somebody who played that campaign and knows the problem.

Hi, I downloaded the Red Flag training campaign for the Tomcat. It's very nicely done, but I have a problem at mission 6, the one where I play the aggressor. I cannot start up the plane because the ground crew won't respond. In the campaign's thread, the author explains that it's probably because I'm red team (aggressor) on a blue base, and suggests to edit the mission to either spawn hot on parking or to change the base (Nellis) to red. I did that (both) in the mission editor, and when I play the mission from the "mission" menu of DCS or from the mission editor, it works, but it does not work when I do it from the campaign. The plane is still cold and the ground crew still does not respond. Is there some kind of "override" setting in a campaign that can force the player to always spawn cold and dark even if in the mission it is "hot from parking" ? Or is there something I did wrong with the mission editor ? (I just know the basics.) https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3304391/ https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=247793&page=4 Thanks in advance.

Great! Thank you very much!

When I press the coolie hat in a diagonal position, and then release, I cannot avoid that a non-diagonal signal is sent upon release (e.g. if I press Up-Right, the Warthog correctly sends the Up-Right signal, but when I release, there will always be either a Right or Up signal sent before it goes back to neutral). Isn't that a problem for you when you assign a diagonal signal in DCS ? I mean, don't you always get an unwanted non-diagonal signal when you release the wheel ? Or is it too quick (too brief) to be detected ?

May I ask why you chose the 2600x over the 3300x? Availability ?

noted Would you want ANY heavy aircraft modules for DCS?
Pyker replied to Wing's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I would buy a c130 module if it costs 50 quids or less, can shoot at stuff (ac130 variant), drop troops and do surface to air recovery. Otherwise, no, not interested. Edit: and it should be finished when released. Please no more of this EA circus. -
No, he means: we do not think it would be a good idea to charge more for modules, or to charge anything for The DCS world base. Probably for reasons along the lines of those suggested by Nipil and some others a few posts above. That is disappointing for those who are not interested in buying more WIP plane modules, but that's what it is.
-
Sure. This is the chit-chat section of the forum. Nothing more. Nevertheless, I didn't hear Mr Grey boast record profits. And. I agree with another poster that selling far-from-finished products is not often a good sign.
-
No no we do not WANT to pay more! I am suggesting that there are some flaws in ED's pricing strategy that prevents them from making as much profit (from some of us) as they could. And we're worried that ED might be out of business some day because of that. I didn't know that the prices were not regionally ajusted and that is obviously a BIG problem. No offense taken. For the record I play with a 9 year old PC (sandy bridge), not even overclocked.
-
Agreed. I don't think I've ever bought a module at full price. The ones I'm really interested in, I'd have paid full price anyway, if there had not been EA discounts or sales all the time. The ones I'm not interested in, I'll never buy them even at 50% discount.
-
It just means a version of DCS world ('core') that is significantly improved compared to 2.5, to justify the price. Obviously, the more improved it would be, the more we would be ready to pay. Of course 'improvement' does not necessarily mean the same thing for all of us. It can be optimization, bug fixes... Or new features.

Haha like in the real world, with the real military contractors missing deadlines and asking for more money... Yeah that will make DCS an even more realistic military simulator! :-)

]Red Flag Training Missions Campaign v1.0 - F-14B
Pyker replied to beppe_goodoldrebel's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I had the same problem and tried to edit the mission in the mission editor. I did both changes (Nellis to red and spawning hot from parking). If I fly the mission from the mission editor, it works, but from the campaign, it does not (aircraft is still cold and dark and ground crew does not respond). ???????????? -
Because they might make a profit from it. Because I don't have the time to learn all the tricks of the mission/campaign editor. I'm too busy learning and practicing flying, AAR, carrier recovery, dogfighting, etc. And I find no fun in creating complex missions, only in playing them. And if I do the mission myself, where's the surprise? Thus I'm ready to buy good missions made by somebody (ED or anybody else, I don't care).
-
Maybe. But ED has nothing for sale that interests me anymore. Maybe I'm in the minority. X-plane does not seem to be doing too bad on Steam. I would hardly call xplane 'mainstream'.
-
+1 Campaigns or even just 'missions packs'. With good scenarios, voiceovers, surprises, and so on. I'd even buy training missions/campaigns. I've never understood why ED releases so many plane modules but so little content to enjoy with them. Is it because that's not what the hardcore players want? Or because good SP missions would require a better AI than what we currently have?

The answer is in the FIRST post. Personally, the reason why I do not like a subscription model is that I have the feeling that it limits my choices as a customer. With a subscription model, I don't really know what I pay for, apart from the access to the game. Do I get bugs fixed ? Dunno. Do I get software optimizations that extend the life of my hardware ? Dunno. Do I get every month new content that interests me ? How many hours am I going to play this month ? There's always this feeling that you might not get a run for your money. I prefer a new paid version. When a new version of a game is released, I can wait for the reviews to be published and then decide, based on the reviews, whether it is worth upgrading to the new version, or whether it's better to stick with the old version for one more year until the next version, or until my next hardware upgrade. For instance if the new version brings nothing in which I'm interested. Of course ED's best interest and mine are not necessarily identical...

Maybe you could post it in the forum's 'tutorials and guides' section and ask a mod to make it sticky? Those who need help in learning AAR might find it there more easily than in this section.

Yes, good idea. Thanks!

The bike analogy is indeed better than the car analogy because of the muscle memory/proprioception needed to maintain balance. With regards to transfer between planes, my experience was (for what it's worth): I started with the hornet and it took me "only" a few hours (maybe around ten). Then I went to the tomcat and it was significantly more difficult (I believe the probe is even more offset; the speed and the pitch trim also gave me a hard time). Easily ten, maybe twenty, more hours before I could do it with a tanker that does not turn. Now I can do it with the S3 while it turns but I would never call it easy. And last week I tried in the A-10A and it worked after about one hour. The A-10 might be a good starting point. The hatch is centered and it's not behind you like in the Viper or the Eagle. The A10-A might be easier than the A10-c, depending on how sophisticated the FM is on the latter, I don't know. I do believe that with some training helpers I'd have saved hours. And I would never have succeeded if I hadn't watched tutorials on youtube for each plane. I also know some very smart people who cannot ride a bike.

I'd like to see a car that pitches, rolls and has no brake pads...

Eeeh.... Frankly, in the first picture, the AOA indexer looks quite dim to me. That's not a complaint or a criticism. If it's like that irl then OK! :-). Just... The other modules I play with have a brighter indexer. I think. I should test whether I'm able to see a change in the indication without having to look directly at the indexer, in different planes. Do real pilots do that (use only peripheral vision for the AOA indexer) ? Keep up the good work! Your tomcat module is the one I enjoy the most in DCS!

Does anybody know whether there's a lua or config file or something with settings or variables relating to AAR like refuel rate? Not that I care about easy AAR. Just curious.
