  1. To pay a subscription to do work as tester of WIP makes much less sense to me than to buy an improved and FINISHED new version of a game every two years.
  2. No. I am against a subscription. I want to buy a game and then enjoy it for as long as I want like if it was a book or a record. If ED wants to release paid versions every two years like MSFS and other franchises, that is better than a subscription because then I can continue playing the older version and choose whether and when to upgrade. Paid upgrades would give an opportunity to ED to fix the stuff that is not yet satisfactory (track recording, AI) without losing money. A module such as a new map or the supercarrier (or a future improved ATC) could each be/have been part of a paid upgrade, as an incentive for existing customers to upgrade, and an incentive for ED to release them only when finished. It could reduce the temptation for ED to release plane modules too early (unfinished).
  3. What's the minimum level of detail that you would require to buy it ? Fully clickable cockpit or simplified ? More than one station?
  4. It works! Awesome! Thank you so much Scarface for the tip!
  5. I (try to) regularly do some AAR in the tomcat just because it's a way to improve my formation flying skills. In the beginning I couldn't do it at all. Then I watched some tutorials that explained that the key to it was trimming. And that there are tricks to make easier for beginners, like using bombing mode wingsweep in the tomcat. And that indeed the C130 is easier than the S3. And maybe refuelling from a basket is easier than from a boom (don't know, never tried from a boom). I'm making progress: now sometimes I can catch the basket while the S3 is turning (don't mock me). What I missed was not so much an easy AAR mode as a good training mission with all the explanations, instead of just an instant action thing and then sink or swim. If you just keep trying but do it always wrong then it'll never work. Unfortunately you have to look for good tutorials etc. And spend time. Fortunately there are many good tutorials.
  6. Well, a somewhat simplified flight model would be enough for me, for starters. It should be able to model stalls but I wouldn't need spins, right ? It's not like wére going to dogfight or do aerobatics. Engine management, well, if that was my thing I'd be playing xplane or IL2. One station for the pilot would be enough to start with. And a Jester-like AI for the rest. More stations later if sales are good. So maybe one should ask: how many would buy a C130 module that's not much more complex than an FC3 module? If it comes with a dozen well designed missions, I would.
  7. If there was a big plane (C130) that can do it all (cargo, dropping paratroopers, refuelling, with the station for the guy who handles'the boom or whatever it's called), I'd pay up to 50 bucks for it. Not more. Could be fun, flying between mountains, landing at night, being chased and shot at and making it back to base on one engine... Surface to air recovery would also be fun. But after the other modules are finished and the AI and the ATC are improved, not before. Edit: I wouldn't need it to be super-high-fidelity(no ramp start or fully clickable cockpit needed)
  8. +1, the AI should be improved. Another basic feature that's never worked for me is track recording. It never replays as it should. I agree with the thread's title, I would enjoy DCS more if the things that I bought were finished and bug-free. But then it would be too much fun and I would not be tempted to buy new modules (like this super carrier which I bought against common sense and which I cannot use because every landing is a slideshow.). ED won't make lot of money fixing stuff they already sold (or free stuff), right ?
  9. Well, if ED didn't have already too many modules to finish, that wouldn't be the worst idea, IMHO. Not worse than a LSO station... A very big and slow aircraft. That would be a change. But no, not now. Same for easy AAR. There's already too much unfinished business. I undesrstand it's frustrating but then, indeed, how would easy or automatic AAR be more enjoyable than unlimited fuel ?
  10. Yeah, it looks like they added a lot of morning haze. It seems to come from the new light effects. I can't say it's less beautiful or less realistic, but indeed on the Oculus CV1 it does not improve things. It was already difficult to see details... Add to this the loss of fps and the stutter... I won't update from 2.5.5 to 2.5.6 stable for now (I tested 2.5.6 stable through steam with the community Skyhawk mod only).
  11. Hi, I’d like to ask around for some opinions about my upgrade plan, please. Currently I have a i5 2500, 16 GB DDR3, a SSD and a GTX1060 6GB (latest thing I upgraded). There’s nothing left to upgrade on that old PC so next upgrade has to be CPU and mobo (and RAM). The budget is very limited, so no concomitant GPU upgrade. I play only in VR with a Rift CV1, at almost minimal settings. Only SP and light missions. It’s not too bad but more fps around the supercarrier would be nice and I wouldn’t say no to some eye candy. So for the next upgrade I’m currently looking at the new i3 10320 because it’s not expensive, it has a rather high clock rate, it has a low TDP (so a few more Watt available for a possible new GPU later) and I don’t have time to fiddle with overclocking anyway. Assuming DCS can’t use more than 4 cores, in theory it should work as well as a 9600k for a little less money, right? My first question is: what’s the best mobo chipset to go with this CPU, considering that I don’t need overclocking features, that the PC is used only for DCS, and that every penny saved is a penny that can go into a better GPU later? My second question is: would it make any sense to buy RAM that is more expensive than a plain 16 GB 2666MHz set (the highest clock rate for the 10320 according to Intel) ? What are the odds that today-superfast DDR4 will still be useable in a new build 5 years from now? Thank you in advance and a nice day to you all.
  12. I meant before landing (approach, ´on speed aoa' and so on). My English and my flying are equally bad.
  13. +1 I am using the modified lua in the meantime, but I agree this is an important key and/or axis binding to add. That and fixing the AOA indexer brightness :-)
  14. I wouldn't mind getting the wing unfold signal as substitute for a wingsweep signal. That would be enough of a reminder. Removing the signal to retract the launchbar would also be nice. I occasionally forget to ignore it.
  15. +1 Very annoying bug. The speed is already difficult to read. If it worked like it should, it would help me maintain the correct speed when landing. Has this bug been reported already?
  16. May I ask what the two white triangles / arrows at one o'clock and ten o'clock are for ? Thank you in advance.
  17. The link for downloading the mod does not work anymore. It looks like this file has been removed. Why ????
  18. Hi, I'm interested in purchasing that mod when you make the kits available, as it is something that I've been missing in the Warthog throttle since day one. Especially since the old Suncom F15 throttle had it... Which made me think: on the F15/Suncom throttle, the antenna elevation is on the left throttle. Would such a mod be easier to design/manufacture/install ? Or is the right throttle easier to open/modify anyway in your opinion?
  19. Well, I can't reproduce it myself today. Probably a glitch in the VR head tracking (I tend to tilt my head while turning in VR). Moderator, you can delete the thread...
  20. Tonight I was practicing turns at different speeds in the HB Tomcat After a few 360° turns (like 3 or 4), the view from the cockpit was not centered anymore! The "G effects" box is not ticked in my settings. I don't know if it's a Tomcat issue or a general DCS VR issue. Anybody else has seen that ? (I haven't seen a thread about that.)
  21. +1 In addition: - as reported elsewhere, the key bindings for the AOA lights do not seem to work (I do not see the wheel move when I use they key bindings that I set in "Controls"). - even when I click on the wheel to adjust AOA light intensity, it does not seem to have any effect on the AOA indexer. Stays very dim always.
  22. Ah yes the problem was with me - a mistake with OvGME. It works fine now! Really great! Thank you thank you thank you !!! Oh, and kudos to Heatblur too for the wonderful plane!
