Turning it from jour (day) to nuit (night) seems incongruous for a weapons power panel. I don’t notice that these two settings affect anything.
-
really i didnt know the guy who released the uh60 also works on the gazelle. thanks for the reference
-
how do you know if it does anything?
-
yeah i thought about doing that, but then i have to quit dcs and load the correct profile for the airframe i want to fly. is that what you do?
-
what other thread? the above did not come through as a link
-
nice to know. But how do YOU know this?

The minigun addendum says: - 115V AC bus must be powered - Master Armament switched to ON ("M" position) - The minigun can be moved using Track-IR or the mouse Using the mouse, click the mouse center wheel twice, and then once to allow the mouse to move the minigun. - Shooting can be made two ways Joystick or keyboard, a button or a key must be first assigned to the "Pilot Stick/Fire Gun or Rocket" command. Mouse, Shooting is triggered by the left mouse button. Although I can swivel the gun w the TrackIR, I cannot shoot. Yes, the master arm switch is up (M). On the minigun, the cover is also flipped up and the toggle is put into the up position. Pulling the trigger on the stick (which is assigned to fire gun) does nothing.

Chuck's guide says 'SA -342 L Gazelle is equipped with a GIAT M621 20 mm gun (240 rounds) and a SNEB68 EAP Rocket pod, which are controlled by the pilot. The Athos Sighting Camera is only used for reconnaissance . The Co -Pilot (Commander) has control over this TV and has a VCB (Video Control Box) at his disposal to find the target . ' However there s no TV as pictured in the guide when I get into the L model armed with the above mentioned gun and rocket pod. In fact there is no TV in the L model at all regardless of how it is armed.

I have tried to use it but really cannot see any effect between jour and nuit.

There is a control named 'TV hook' in the control options but the manual has no information on it. Does anyone know what it does?

The farp at the spawn point in Nevada does not have the resources to allow arming.

I use a FFB stick (Rhino). Trim is disabled in the special options (I do not want DCS to remember the center stick position as the new trim point). I want to push the magnetic brake button and get a sloppy stick. When I release the magnetic brake, I expect the stick to stay where it is put, but it returns to center.

thank you. i searched for 'day' but failed. maybe i fat fingered it.

I still wish there was a way to customize kneeboard size and position withing dcs. The click and drag bit gets to be intrusive. I resorted to creating a mod that positions the kneeboard where I want it but it breaks IC.

In the left seat as part of turning on the TV, you must rotate the key under the monitor (to the left of the pylon selector). I cannot find a keybind for this control. Is there one?

Is the latest version of the DCS server beta single or multi threaded? Does the minimum system requirement change for a multithreaded version? I currently run the server on an i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz with 8 gb ram.

@Raptor9thank you for sharing your experience. Force trim overshoot is the phenomenon i was trying to describe. Frequent trimming is the solution I developed and im glad its the correct habit. Still i never experience force trim overshoot in the huey prob because there is no scas. It just has the magnetic forces hold the stick in place. Although i use a force feedback stick, its only 5 kg max so sometimes i find myself not pushing the trim button because i can actually be more precise when i am feeling resistance. I guess my sense of proprioception is wearing out w age. Other things that i used to do relatively well like shooting hoops and playing darts is also not as good anymore.

SCAS insulates me from the feel of the aircraft. It makes adjustments to maintain attitude without my awareness. But when i press the trim button and scas is suspended, my attitude goes crazy (because i have not prepositioned my cyclic and pedals to provide what scas was providing). Of course in dcs we have the ‘show controls’ which reports what the pilot and scas are doing. But there is no such display in the real helicopter. How do you real pilots deal with this? The only way i can imagine is to frequently trim- pushing the button almost every time the pedals and cyclic are adjusted. Is there a way to turn down the ‘gain’ of scas? I like that it damps out changes in attitude reducing pilot workload but sometimes wonder if a little dial/or color changing led might be useful instead of just a ‘scas saturated’ warning. Like ‘ how saturated is it?’

I have found scas to be more powerful. Using the trim button seems to not only give a sloppy stick but also suspends scas. I am using a rhino ffb stick. Pressing the ‘show controls’ hotkey’ twice shows pilot inputs on the top left and scas inputs on the top right. During flight the scas tends to oppose pilot inputs but as soon as the trim button is depressed there are wild positional changes as the pilot’s unopposed inputs affect the aircraft. similarly, lifting to hover is a totally different experience depending on whether or not the trim button is held down. This makes the apache more difficult than the huey. In the uh1 there is no scas so holding the trim button only gives a sloppy stick. Your muscle memory remains valid so the chopper keeps its attitude. In the apache, the minute you depress the trim button, not only does the stick get limp, but that invisible ‘assistant’ disappears so you have to immediately change your inputs just to maintain the same attitude. Keeping the ball centered helps minimize this disconnect in yaw and roll but there is no indication for pitch. i realize scas is added to help stabilize an inherently labile airframe/powerplant design, but the added layer of complexity is challenging to fly if you forget the significance of the effect of scas.

I think they removed the F15E icon

Well, you CAN get the Sinai map even if your credentials cannot be validated. And the Sinai Map CAN be downloaded. And non official modules (C130, UH60,etc can be flown. So at least you can do something.

somewhere i saw that the servers will be back up in less than 2 weeks. it's already been 6 hours. Maybe we should have a website that tracks this and we can get a rebate on our next module?
