Correct this has been a bug since it was released, and I had written this up as a tester then. Surprised its still not fixed :(
-
That kind of speaks for itself. What else would it be?

Ok, here is stream quality using 6000 bitrate

They are working on something called Brainwarp... or something to that effect, something I will always turn off, I hate ASW.

Granted he showed his PD at 2.0... so take that with a grain of salt too. I do expect DCS to perform worse, but a PD of 1.0 should be 1440p in theory, upping that value even to 1.5 will be much larger than current oculus/vive resolutions (ok maybe not vive pro) assuming the driver/api dictates to DCS the native resolution of the device.

What do you mean real 4k solution @ 60hz? Is this an option on the 8k?

Can you screenshot all your settings in OBS?
-
Yes, they can, explained in my review. rXfL7N7dLJc

Vulkan will help, but its not gonna be this amazing saving grace.

Sweviver basically said dcs isn’t enjoyable cause of the fps, unfortunate, hopefully ED has some performance tweaks around the corner

So, I streamed in VR last night did a bunch of heli A2A with some friends... had no problem spotting even small gazelles at large distances (5nm or so). Will try more with A2A planes later
-
I never saw anything about that, but I could have missed it. I did write up bugs about spotting initially when i was a tester along with tracking them, now that I'm not a tester I no longer have access to said things and status'. That said I send feedback directly to NineLine and some other current testers when I see it (no pun intended), if they do anything with it or what they do with it is beyond my control.

Im recording (to disk) at 20k bitrate. Im streaming at 6k to twitch. The video I uploaded to youtube is 20k (youtube takes whatever bitrate you wanna send it). The VOD i linked from twitch ~1 post back is 6k (twitch caps at 6k) Correct, FOV stays the same, clarity increases.
-
You wont really see the changes till you record. Also your bitrate is only 5000 vs my recording on youtube is 20000, literally 4x larger. If you want to compare quality on twitch, compare it to this VOD from last night That is 6k output, so slightly better but should be relatively close in detail.

You need to be at a 4k resolution or higher, you are only at 1440p

Streaming 1080p@60fps 6000 bitrate Recording 1440p@60fps 20000 bitrate Can you show me settings of your setup both monitor and obs?

MFGs are not a foot on the floor design. Since they are not pendular they rotate around a center axis and like all center axis pedals turn inward at the extents (this isnt a big deal, but a difference none-the-less). Since they are not foot on the floor, what I do not like is leaving my feet on them all the time, because there is no feedback if you are pressing left or right slightly, which could cause unwanted yaw during flight. They are great pedals, and a great option if you don't want to dish out $500 for the TM TPR Pedals, I've had mine for 2 years and do not regret the purchase in the slightest. I personally prefer the foot on the floor design though. I will say that the price of the MFGs is slightly deceiving since you have to pay for shipping. I paid $392 for the pedals and a TM Warthog extension, without looking im guessing the extension was ~$40, so still around $350 shipped.

Ya I’m not saying this should be the final result, especially if it’s that hard. But it’s a step in the right direction. Hopefully they tune it over time

It was worse before, you couldnt see a missile come off the rail in 4k, giving VR users the advantage (I know a couple people who played competitively in VR and purposefully didnt use Super Sampling for this reason). I wont disagree that it may not be too drastic cause I haven't compared the 2. However, 5nm is kinda BVR in reality, dogfights shouldnt happen this far apart. Ill do some testing and see since i have 4k,1440p native monitors + VR.

Im not a big helicopter sim fan, so not entirely sure what you would look for in pedals as I don't know how they should typically feel. Maybe if you can ask some questions about how you would expect or what you would want I can answer. Someone asked me prior to the review to ask how it worked with the springs removed and I did answer that in the review, they do return to center without the springs just from gravity, but without the springs they offer very subtle resistance for that same reason (basically the resistance is the weight of the pedals wanting to return to center due to gravity). Maybe that helps, if not, let me know.

I dont use TARGET, I really dislike that app.

I watch F-18's take off from my local airport, 5nm out there might as well not be there, and if not for the sound you wouldnt know, just saying. It should be equal yes, 4k, 480p whatever the resolution, no one should see things you cant typically see IRL. As for zoom, sure, its not IRL, but in IRL your world isnt a 24" viewport with a finite amount of clarity, we dont have pixels irl, so I would say thats a adaptation to help in that regard. I dont really care what is done, so long as you cant see missiles come off the rail of another aircraft at 30nm like you use to, that was the problem before, VR uses due to the size of the pixels in their face could literally spot missiles leaving the rail (1 pixel suddenly becoming 2). I as a VR uses confirmed this, and reported it to ED when I was a tester. I even took screenshots from multiple resolutions 1080p up to 4k to show just how awful it was. Spotting is a problem in VR, but from my personal standpoint, a tradeoff for the immersion and something that in time will get better. If you want to be competitive in VR, you will need to adjust to the limitations, the engine should not adjust things based on screen resolution or viewing device, it should just work the same regardless. I play in both VR and TIR still to this day. I love the immersion of VR, but there are times where I just dont want to use it due to it's disadvantages.

In theory resolution doesnt matter with this change, neither VR nor Desktop have an advantage here. The range at which the planes are no longer visible are now based on size it seems, a KC-135 is visible at farther ranges than a Hornet for example. That range should be the same at 4k all the way to VR.

Presenting a frame to the monitor is not a performance intensive task, the work has already been done, rendering a 1080x1200 window is literally a tiny fraction of a second. All this work to try and remove the desktop mirror is rather silly, you will not see a performance boost.
