  1. Jeez, I’ve just watched it again. The first time I thought it was all historical film edited together… Very clever.
  2. An AI Typhoon would be very useful. Especially as they seem to crop up as low level Mosquito escort.
  3. Yes that seems to be right.
  4. I pretty sure Mk XIVs were deployed to the Netherlands. Although like the Tempest they were in relatively low numbers compared to Spit Mk IXs they were used to counter fighter sweeps and nuisance bombing by 262s as well as providing air superiority for TAF CAS missions. Tempests were low cover, Spit XIVs high. The Meteor was never deployed I seem to remember.
  5. Yes, I seem to remember that they could only be flown twice and could be ejected. They were frequently supported by other aircraft armed with 1000lbs air burst bombs I think. Options for disabling a large airfield were limited at the time. The Tornado crews had difficulty flying low level over the featureless desert at night. 2/3 of the losses were aircraft just hitting the terrain iirc.
  6. Iirc only one Tornado was lost while on a JP233 mission and that wasn’t over the airfield, there’s uncertainty as to if enemy action was involved or not. They didn’t always fly down the runway, in fact crossing the runways and taxiways was preferred as the taxiways could also be used for takeoff.
  7. The B52 does have a fascinatingly varied and changing selection of ordinance. Apparently they’ve even been deploying standard MK 82s again to, carpet bomb terrain as area denial in Afganistan recently, they have been active in Syria also. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/41776/barksdale-b-52-brandishes-its-modern-arsenal-in-new-loadout-photos I can see that some weapons would be classified, but you don’t need to model everything, there’s loads to go at. I can’t see that performance data would be a problem, why would it? Targeting pods, surely they’d have similar capabilities to the ones we already have? I’d imagine it would be a huge amount of work though, just massive. In service US types with accessible data are getting less though it would seem. As far flying straight and level for long distances, people pay good money for fully featured tubeliners in the bus driver sims. The PMDG 777 is $139 and there are DLC variants. Just sayin…
  8. This is still an issue. Looks awful and makes the instruments very hard to read.
  9. I find in hard to believe that ED are going to ship several Mosquito versions. The Molins FB VI I can imagine as it seems it wasn’t that different to the regular FB VI. The bomber version though was quite different with a different cockpit, additional crew station for the bombardier, bombsight(s) engines etc etc. We’ll see…
  10. Yes. I remember Jason Williams from 1C/777 being asked if the team would prefer a reduced price pre-order or someone to pay full price later. He was strongly if favour of up front cash even if it meant individuals were paying less overall. The dev’s have to eat, someone has to pay their wages in the meantime. I’m well past the point where I buy everything ED and their partners release, there’s just so much content now, but the WW2 stuff I’m invested in and prepared to support 100%.
  11. Aye, the concept of a digital pre-order is a bit strange… It allows the developer to get early cash though, although a bit less per sale.
  12. The few Molins Mosquitos do seem to have seen a fair amount of action been effective and popular with crews. It appears there was a rockets faction and a BFG faction within the RAF and the rockets faction won. Presumably rockets and Molins would have been too heavy?
  13. One day I hope we can fly from Britain to Berlin in DCS WW2. Imagine trying to recreate the low level attack on the Haus des Rundfunks during Goering and Goebells speeches. The Mosquito brings so many possibilities.
  14. You can hang more ordinance externally if you feel you need to. As you say you probably could remove the Hispanos but why would you bother when you can task squadrons with B variants instead.
  15. I always enjoyed flying it in Maddox IL2 although it felt a bit overmodelled. Being forced to exchange the I-16 for the Lagg 3 was depressing, although that seems to have been the reaction in real life. Our version from Mr Octopus seems far more wild than the old easy fly Maddox IL2 version, but that feels right. The engine doesn’t seem to need any looking after which feels a bit strange, maybe I’ve been lucky.
  16. The “dangerous dustbin” would be fun to have, but surely it’d require big changes to make a B version along with the FB. Then there’s the Blackett/Sperry bomb sight…
  17. I enjoyed the Maddox IL2 campaigns, flying both the fighter and IL2 campaigns from Barbarossa to Berlin. I do think the short range low altitude Eastern front air battles lend themselves to sim campaigns very well. I’d be very happy if ED announced that they’ve set up dedicated ETO, PTO and Eastern Front teams. At the moment I get the impression that there’s no real plan, at least that’s the way it appears observing from the outside.
  18. Bf-109E would be ideal. Iconic plane and you have a BOB aircraft as well as an early Eastern front type with possibly minor changes.
  19. Aye. The Soviets received over 1000 LF Mk IX. Like other Western types the extent of their use was played down by the Soviet hierarchy.
  20. The I-16 is great fun, it’s just a shame it has no contemporary flyables, AI or maps. I’m intrigued as to which WW2 module Mr Octopus has on the go, maybe the La 7 as WIP shots apparently for another sim have been posted on FB.
  21. Aye. Maybe there could be a 3rd party WW2 section? I do feel the 3rd party stuff is a bit lost down the page generally, but maybe ED want to make the distinction between their own and 3rd party stuff quite obvious…
  22. Hello cheeky
  23. Well there’s been no WW2 release for over a year. Progress is glacial, more dev’s interested in WW2 are needed. I just hope there’s plenty of stuff going on in the background unannounced that not ready to be made pubic yet. I don’t see why WW2 wouldn’t be a money spinner, the aircraft are iconic, the systems are relatively simple compared to the avionics of a modern jet, there’s no issues with classified information, just licencing. To be fair I can imagine that Covid disruption hasn’t helped. Several of the sim and general gaming dev’s I follow have been strangely quiet over the last 12 months. No new projects announced, roadmaps not updated, that sort of thing.
  24. Yes Nick Grey suggested the BOB was happening. The Spit and 109E would be mods of existing aircraft so you’d image that would speed things up, but who knows… The Hurricane would be new but I’d really love to fly it in DCS.
