reported Engine Desynch - No associated noise

Yes. -
The S3 was low production, very late war I think. Yes there were faster lighter Ju88 variants but it was never a fast manoeuvrable aircraft that could give single engine fighters the run around at least. 340 mph in the later Ju88S operational variants was better, but no way good enough. The G6 night fighter was a bit faster again, the Luftwaffe’s best NF no question. None of this means I’d be resistant to a DCS Ju88 btw, we’d just be talking about a flying target, as would the B25 for the allied side.

What sort of roll though, ailerons only mostly or a flick with lots of rudder?
-
Any large multi crew aircraft will be a massive piece of work, like 3/4 single seaters. The Mosquito is almost a single seater. The 190F was the Luftwaffe strike aircraft replacing the Ju87. Rudel finished the war flying one. The Ju88 was a multi crew medium bomber, not fast enough to outrun single engine opposition, dead meat without single engine escort. Not really comparable to the Mosquito which was an outlier speed wise, and speed was life.

The Austin Katy is a must have, especially if we arrive in the desert sometime

You’d have to accept the loss of performance due to the extra weight. Big guns, heavy ammo on a tiny underpowered plane. Very few I-16s has 20mm it seems. The 12.7 ShVAK were cannons. Most Russian ammo was already explosive I seem to remember.

Agree.

I’d hope that the aircraft we already have will enable different versions of the same aircraft. I’d imagine the Spitfire IX would make the Mk I and Mk V relatively simple to produce. I may be very wrong though…
-
That’s a great idea in principal but it ignores the fact that some aircraft are far easier to make than others. The Tempest V and Typhoon are difficult because of rarity unfortunately, both the engines and airframe. Nick Grey has hinted at problems modelling the Sabre. The Mosquito is well documented, uses relatively common Merlins. Documentation is even better now after the Broughton document find. It’d be interesting to know if ED had access too any of this newly uncovered stuff. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-east-wales-40873628

Yes agree completely.

It seems Anton lovers need the A 3/4 and 1941 scenarios. The early Antons dominated the Hurricane and Spit V in late 1941. After the A4 it becomes bigger and heavier but without the significantly more powerful radial it really needed.

Blimey

I like the idea of a Northern UK, Scandi, Iceland map. It’d be something totally different. Red Storm Scandi invasion scenarios with the EF Plenty of water for USN carrier ops.

A8 is predominantly an anti bomber fighter. Armoured engine cowl and cockpit, 2 x 30 cal 4 x 20mm. Engine isn’t that strong. You can’t drag all that extra weight around without penalty. There are pics of frontline A8s with the outboard guns removed, but that would require a new FM. D9 and 109 were predominantly anti fighter fighters.

I agree about the excessive cockpit weathering. Some of the aircraft have the feel of a well used piece of mining equipment… I fail to see how an aircraft would reach that state with only a few months of use.
-
the A-26 didn’t see that much use in WW2 though. PTO the crews hated it and preferred their A-20s. ETO it was supposed to replace the P47 in ground attack but CAS with such a big plane/target wasn’t a good idea. Then there were the structural problems, and over complicated remote defensive armament which tended not to work. The USAAF just seems to have really liked big overly complicated stuff…

DCS Bf-110 would be very interesting.
-
I thought the A6-A8 were Sturmbocke variants with more armour and heavier armament? Bomber destroyers that were heavy and clumsy enough that they were frequently escorted by 109s. 4 x 20mm and 2 x 303s are heavy. There’s no such thing as a free lunch…

Loving the new Mossie Monday Series. Well done.

The gauge in the Whitley video is oscillating over about 1 increment, 10rpm? The gauge in the DCS Mossie seems to be oscillating over much more? 50rpm. Is the effect a little overdone, maybe. -

Seems to be new. If it’s realistic then it’s nice to see. -

The huge whirling props look so close from the cockpit… -
I though jamming was only a development issue and was mostly resolved with the operational aircraft. All auto feed systems jammed sometimes. There were new mosquitos with the 6pdr and conversions. Overall the installation seems to have worked well, been popular with crews and surprisingly accurate. The initial trial was so positive that a second squadron was equiped. More weren’t produced only due to factional infighting within the RAF. There was a big gun faction and an RP faction, the RP faction won out so no more 6pdr Mosquitos were produced. Their utility seems to be confirmed by the fact that the existing aircraft continued to be used by squadrons seeing a lot of action.

Will the circuit breakers ever be modeled?
Mogster replied to Barrett_g's topic in DCS: P-47 Thunderbolt
Surely you wouldn't risk flying around in a combat zone with half of your guns disabled. The other half could save your life, especially against tough ETO aerial targets. It just seems nonsensical to me. -
Been around here since the Flanker 2.0 days, 20 years. Being realistic things have always pretty much been as you suggest. ED are a small team with partners, people are spread across Asia, Europe, the US. They have commercial contracts also, so we never really know what’s going on that area, but it can affect delivery of their consumer stuff. Sometimes it’s positive as commercial contracts lead to surprise consumer modules, sometimes stuff just doesn’t materialise and is never mentioned again… However no-one else is providing combat sim content with this level of detail, so EDs stuff is unique. At least at this point there’s plenty of content to enjoy while we are waiting

Flyable Dakota and Ju52 would be interesting. Could be a test bed for larger props also I’d guess. Used on every front also, 700 were sent to Russia. At least references for the DC3/C47 shouldn’t be an issue…
