  1. I believe it is only showing the left eye view when on screen. No way to turn off from what I have found so far.
  2. Hey thanks man. I think I am gonna get it printed and framed. Will look good on the wall. And might actually go and do a bit of editing perhaps but SweetFX and Reshade mods alone did an amazing job with the current output untouched I feel. And not sure I could improve on it with my 0 skills anyways. But thanks for the comp and as you were picked up already I went ahead and paired up with Jaime22. Good luck to us all of course!
  3. Thanks IronMike for making the adjustment to the announcement date. I am sure it is appreciated by all as is the contest in general. Thanks again.
  4. Participant: Torso Nominated Wingman: Jaime22:Jaime of the *NOB* clan Oh and can it be clarified if the results will be determined prior to the 27th and that an announcement will be made to that effect because if we wait until the 27th for it, and not selected, won't we who have yet to pre-purchase in hopes of a free Viggen prize would in addition to the loss of the contest lose out on the last chance to pre-order as well. Kind of a double hit if so. Maybe a day prior to last pre-sale day would be good. Just a thought if not already considered. Probably has been though. On to my shot. I chose this because my girl said she liked it so much I should get it printed and framed. Simple shot but she liked the contrast and angular lines the runway provided and the gradient from light to dark from the skid marks so figure why not. She generally does me right, though she said she wished it had a red nose. Holidays. I said green will have to do ;). I also feel it really shows the subtle detail of the texture work in both the plane itself and the runways surface. The minute detail is just amazing when studied closely. 5. I worked for Sierra Online from 97-02. Was the most fun I have ever had at a job in my life. I miss those little extras that we had in games back in the day. I often wish DCS had a pre-flight ready room and/or let you spawn in on ramp start, materialize in in 1st person view as you and walk up to your plane with a ground crew there and you climb the ladder into get in while a gc member is there to assist as they are in real life. Add so much to the immersion I think. But probably just me. I guess in general I wish airfields had there own built in mini-AI so to speak that just made them seem, in use and populated without having to try and setup something in the editor on our own that doesn't quite fill the bill. AI towing a jet for service to some part of airfield, crew doing their own tasks and routines independent of my activities or if scenario calls for it set to a 'conflict' mode vs a 'peace time' mode. Sorry, I went off there..more for a Wish thread I am sure. But thanks for reminding me of a good time back in the day.
  6. Seems those new improved panels are already in manufacturers hands with even better coming later in the year. http://www.roadtovr.com/display-conglomerate-jdi-developing-ultra-high-resolution-panels-vr-headsets/
  7. I am sorry but you are speaking broadly and applying this across the board and that is just plain wrong to do. I have tons of hrs in VR, have had both systems since day one launch. Never used one before. Not once have I felt nauseous. I know several others who are new and now heavy users, same for them. Really, there are people that get seasick, and many that don't. There are those that get carsick and many that don't. There are people who get airsick and many that don't. VR can be quick to trigger those that are susceptible to those other motion/brain conflict issues but you imply EVERYONE is going to feel these negative, technology stopping effects..at some point if you use it long enough. That is just plain wrong. Just like the ones who claimed that for all the above causes for negative reactions in a minority.
  8. Just wanted to say congrats on store arrival Cobra. Always a nice milestone.
  9. You mean them rockets still in their pods yet also somehow inflight?:smartass:
  10. If you want to have tactile transducers in your setup you dang well do. I've been rocking multi sound cards for years.
  11. Nothing, you tell her nothing. The cost to be a man is way less than it is to be a woman. She gets makeup, you get a virtual jet. Luck of the gender draw man. No need to explain it.
  12. You can wear your glasses while using the devices. Ideally you will have a pair of lean designed glasses because big frames can be an issue with the available open space in the headset. But yeah, you can wear glasses with them. I know of some that get a set of VR specific glasses if their daily style choice is not ideally suited. Also, you can get VR lens inserts that match your prescription as well from these guys. http://vr-lens-lab.com/
  13. Well I am glad Friday is the start of my vacation until the 3rd. Whatever is coming, I shall be ready for it. Hopefully something more than words is gonna show up :smilewink:
  14. Nice Verde. I like that axle boot idea. Gonna have to maybe add one to my setup. Very cool. That for sure is one cozy setup Shabi. Nice you made use of the space like that. Close of a door, not a sim item in sight. Quick update on my chair. I got my 1st pass prototypes for my Cougar MFD mounting adapters printed out and test fit is awesome. Yay, no more tape holding shit together! Final version has a couple of tweaks to design and will be printed up soon. Also waiting for new mounting plates from cnc shop. Anyways as this was being planned I, as well as us all :(, were expecting the F-18 out at end of year so I wanted to have 3 MFDs like it has so I could at least eliminate those from the cockpit VR click and lets me reach out and touch an actual control where it exists in virtual space which is the whole goal here after all for the most part, augmenting my virtual experience. So here is my center MFD mounting solution. I think it is gonna be just awesome once finalized. Final is height adjustable and has a bit more of an angle away from joystick. But this test one clears fine and neither hand nor joystick comes in contact at all with it at full range. And this is the adapter for the left and right MFD's mounted and on arm at full collapse. Once bolted to new mounting plates they will be completely storable and allow the chair to be used for any other normal usage. Only holding it up in this pic as can't bolt on yet. Of course one will be on the other side as well :smartass: And in general pos for use Anyways, will update once all is back from manufacturing and hoping to take it all apart and maybe do a proper build post since I will have all parts ready to go in one shot.
  15. Ohh to be young and optimistic again. (Yes there is some assumption on my part there)
  16. How about we let them just focus on getting 2.5 and F-18 out. As well as finish up last of Normandy map and ship it. After those. Then let's talk. Carriers DLC be nice for sure.
  17. I love working from home full-time as it allows me to enjoy this stuff as it is released. Nice vid, looking forward to putting it in the hangar after a new owners shakedown flight.
  18. Night will never look good in VR with our current tech until ED adds dithering to their graphics. This is why we get the banding issue and it looks like crap at night in VR. I can't even do it anymore. I am hoping ED adds this to engine as a constant or a VR setting option. If not, we have to wait a gen or two for better HMDs. Which would suck.
  19. We will see something new in 2017, 4th quarter I am betting. And it sounds like significantly better than current. Here is an article on the new displays. They have already shipped samples to the manufacturers for review. They are readying for production pretty much. http://www.roadtovr.com/display-conglomerate-jdi-developing-ultra-high-resolution-panels-vr-headsets/
  20. To be honest I haven't even attempted DCS on the GearVR yet. I actually had both the Rift and Vive prior to getting the GearVR, so other than the mobile/easily to show a friend with 0 VR exp usage, I don't really put it to use as much given the hardware available to me ;). But I can certainly see over the next couple days if I can give it a go to give some comparative feedback. I do know some others out there have done similar, so reports may have already been posted previously. I to am waiting for the next gen and already have the funds in an envelope set aside to be used when it arrives. I almost picked up a Pimax due to the reports a much better pic quality than the Vive or Rift but no 6dof so no go. Although I have heard of their HMD's being cannibalized and the panels used being mated with a Rift or Vive to create what some felt would be the ultimate 1st gen VR available. A FrankenVR. Sadly those people have not been heard from since and their stories now are warning to those that wish to follow in their footsteps. Some of them even had families that were left behind. Perhaps they found what they were looking for. Perhaps not. I don't know myself. :noexpression: So I wait, patiently, with my envelope, for those words to come, Those very special words. "Available for pre-order" Heh, maybe I will pickup a Pimax just to see it for myself. :smilewink:
  21. I own both a Rift and a Vive as well as GearVR. Rift is technically the best adopted currently(In regards to DCS). But Vive is making great strides as well and is tightening up the race. As for 3D and depth. Yes, that is one of the main amazing aspects of VR. You will feel like you are sitting in an actual cockpit, everything will be in 3D. The panels and dash will have depth, the controls will look like you could use them. You will look around and see all as you would if you were sitting in the actual aircraft. Exit the plane and it will be like you have that plane in real size in front of you. As for accessing/seeing controls. Well you would be surprised how quickly muscle memory kicks in as well as having a decent controller setup placed in logical and correct positions. Also, can always peek if you need to. But really you want to get a good controller and get them mapped to make life easier and even more immersive. Which is the point of it all after all. I cannot get enough of it. I live in Seattle area, on cloudy rainy days I can load up NTTR and get a little sun therapy while I enjoy my access to virtual Area 51.
  22. It seems that the ED team could really use a couple more VR testers for releases. I mean this behavior gets spotted right after updating for most of us it appears. Maybe if VR internal test users are an issue for ED they could find a community member or 2 they feel they could trust and use to assist with VR testing of release candidates. Not likely I know, given ED's apparent dev culture(not a slam, just from it's communication style with it's customer base), but as someone who has been in the software/gaming industry since 1997 when I started at Sierra-Online we found leveraging some selected users from our titles communities helped bolster areas we were weak in and at 0 cost. Just seems odd to have a tool in your bag that could help improve an issue/weakness and not pull it out and use it. Hope this came across correctly.
  23. I made sure to have every Friday off for the month of Dec as well as the last 10 days just in case I have some extra reason to utilize my time with. I am hoping I find I don't have enough time ;)
  24. Thanks. I appreciate that. I am a southpaw and if you look in the 1st pic, you will see that I have a mouse attached to the side of my throttle. Works perfectly for all my point and click needs and if for some reason I need to move a cursor the G13 dual modes as both a mouse and 2nd jstick. So I will be ready for Viggens dual jstick requirements.
  25. Yeah, they just need to be solid enough that they do not really budge when you push them. The buttons have a really light tension so even with just a tape job for mock up on mine they were able to be used without collapsing. So once secured..well securely, will be no prob. And you are lucky to have that time and a dedicated sim room. Also, this kind of stuff is good mental exercise. Helps get that creative thinking going and that sense of accomplishment once you, hopefully, realize your vision into existence in the physical world. Wish I had a dedicated room I could go nuts in. Oh well, down the road.
