I am finalizing my VR chair build right now as a matter of fact. Perhaps it can be of use or give some ideas. Need to update thread with some new pics as more progress has been made, will soon. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=178486

Just for shits and giggles why not power it up, put it on and see what shows up in VR? May offer no new information but can't hurt certainly.

One big difference between the 2 regarding the trackers/lighthouses is the Vive does not use USB's. You can put em on a shelf and you just plug them in the wall. You can move em around to change room scale size easily. Rift, everything in the setup requires a USB port. Cables all have to go to PC/Hub. I own both and only use the Vive for room scale stuff, social use. Now THAT is, wait for it..... a bit, extreme. My pic ain't that bad. Needs to be better sure. It will. Soon.

So to be clear, when you hit esc, you see the menu option. As you mouse over the menu, the only one that lets you click it is "Quit to desktop" any other option, including the "Quit" right above quit to desktop does not seem to register the mouse click but the white dot cursor is there and moveable?

I too am bummed paypal is not possible immediately. I don't like giving my card info out either.

No prob. I hope it worked as expected for you. I have multiple devices in my setup so I have a 'pre-VR use' checklist. Switching to Rift headphones is part of it. As well as switching back to my main playback device(speakers) after VR sessions. A few clicks, no big deal. Yeah one of the things I like reading most is new user 1st flight/use posts. Even better when it comes from a former almost anti-vr hardliner. Few of those and it is cool hearing the shedding of doubt and just being amazed by it in even it's 1st gen iteration. Only will get better. But damn good now. Perhaps Putin can apply his unique brand of 'influence' to VR adoption. Perhaps he backs an app that allows you to ride VR horses shirtless with him through meadow. Stop and wrestle bear, then drink vodka with it to help it overcome it's sadness from it's crushing defeat. Something like that. Like $8.99 in Stream store. :smilewink:

Welcome to the club FedorMS. It is amazing and you will find never stops being so. Also, try other stuff too. Some neat ones out. As for no sound in Rift. Try going to 'playback devices' in your sounds control panel and select 'Rift headphones' as default device, then it will work fine, just switch back to speakers or whatever after. Try that. r-click little speaker in tray by clock and l-click playback devices. r-click Rift headphones in list, select set as default device. click OK to close window. Should then work.

Awesome Zeus67. Looking real good and thank you very much for sharing more of it's progress. You guys stand alone in your community interaction approach. It is very much appreciated. Thank you for setting such a high standard to your approach.

In 2.0 my Mig-21 is showing as 2.0.5, every module except Vig is showing as 2.0.5, some with beta, some not. But all 2.0.5

So I have not yet had a chance to try it yet but did get it installed to 2.0. I see in the menu, it now shows AJS37 but lists it as 1.5.6. This is in 2.0 of course. Every other module I have in 2.0 starts with 2. as their ver number. This an oversight or?

Well this is all interesting. I own a Vive and a Rift. I also have a S7 and forgot I was given a free GearVR with it and never even opened it up. Decided after reading a bit in here and just tried it out. Surprised to see it does indeed seem to have a nicer pic than either the Vive or the Rift, certainly less SDE, at least to me. Now eager to try DCS on it to see how it compares to them with it. If only the optics were a bit 'better' (ipd adjust, larger lens, etc). But other headsets for well under a $100 it appears as well if I want diff than GearVR. I figure if I jump into the Nolo KS I can get 6Dof tracking and a 3rd 6dof VR option, and fully mobile to boot, for $99 now. Today was a good day.

Congrats on your new role. And thanks for the work you have done for the A-4E project for us all. It sounds like your work was invaluable to it from all reports. Looking forward to hearing about your future projects with your new team once beans can start being spilled.

35 percent faster than a GTX1080. Yep I will probably jump on one once EVGA gets theirs out. Can sell my 1080 to offset cost, lose $100 or so maybe.

Didn't Cobra say that for 2017 the plan was they were gonna be a lot more open and sharing? Updates on projects and even F-14 stuff. A day away from March and nothing as of yet.

That is awesome Scooternutz. Can you say why you felt kind of a bias against VR without trying beforehand? If that is what the case was that you are referencing in that comment, and not just a general condition statement? I love reading new VR users impression posts though. They really never get old and allow me to reconnect with my own first moments in VR right around this time last year. Regardless, welcome to the dark side, or light side, whichever works. But glad you are enjoying it and getting to get that flight fix in you were missing.:pilotfly:

Wait so you are saying you do not have speakers connected to your pc? Unusual if so, but the Rift is just a speaker basically so the current internal chip/sound card you have is in use for audio just to the Rifts headphones it sounds like in your setup. So you just have headphones plugged into it vs speakers I guess. The BK can be used just with that, but it just means it will react to ALL audio info, which can be great for music(love that bass vibe), or movies or games, but just not work with specific signals sent to it such is used with SimShaker. Which is your goal I assume and if not should be ;) So yes, even if nothing is currently 'plugged' into your sound card, it is being used. So a 2nd sound card is the only way to achieve in game correct audio through Rift headset, and then SimShaker feedback in your bottom and back. In my setup I do have speakers connected to the same sound card dedicated for the BK. So when I want to fly or drive using SimShaker I just switch playback devices in my audio control to Rift headphones, then I turn my speakers down all the way so I do not hear the signal feedback(often just a low but loud hum from my sub if I don't turn speakers down to 0) that is being sent to the BK by SimShaker when I fly and drive. Conversely if I want to do stuff and use external speakers but without BK feedback, I just turn off the BK amp, so no prob there. Easy and works great and gives me all the options I can want I feel. Does that make it clearer?

Oh I am alright. DCS just has a lot of hoping always tied to it. :noexpression:

Which seems to be the case often it would seem as I have seen wing vapor off of planes in apparently all kinds of weather. It is an effect that is sorely needed and seems to be beyond ED's capabilities currently which is kinda nuts to think about considering where we are in graphics capabilities in the industry as a whole. Just seems to be an effect ED cannot create and employ sadly. Hopefully they can actually achieve this apparently monumental task one day. Just google image search a jet, most likely you will see quite a few with wing vapor showing. Not such a rare occurrence. Falcon 4 was able to create an effect that worked in 1998, Almost 20 yrs later, seemingly an impossible task for others. Go figure.

Here you go, a little mod for the BK to quiet it down. Works well.

Sounds good, you should. Here is the sound card I got for the BK, but it seems to have gone up $10 since I bought mine. I think there is one without the headphone amp as well that might be cheaper. But can shop around too. https://www.amazon.com/Creative-Blaster-Audigy-Performance-Headphone/dp/B00EO6X4XG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487974123&sr=8-3&keywords=sound+blaster

Not a word from a single member of the Belsimtek team that they even acknowledge the issues? I don't get the total lack of communication, even so much, we are working on stuff or we aren't. I just don't get it.

I have done some tests as well with this and I can say for certain the pilot models are kinda funky in what seems all of them where they exist. I am not a big guy, 5'10" 165lbs, avg. hands and arms, not fat nor supper skinny, and the pilot model is quite a bit smaller and with odd proportions, long forearms, tiny hands, thin thighs, long shins, narrow ass shoulders. Basically looks like Capt. America before he got the special treatment.etc. This seems to be a factor in all this too perhaps. I use center stick and can position my stick in the same exact spot as shown in VR and pop off headset and back on back and forth and compare real world with virtual from same spatial locations and my hands are huge compared to the VR pilot, the stick in the A10 does seem a tad bit smaller too. Again I am flipping between real world and VR quickly or even peeking and you can compare. It seems a proper sized and proper proportioned pilot model would help this issue. I am not sure how it works with the various devs but it would seem best for ED to create a pilot base model that is properly modeled and correct proportions and provide that as the template for all devs pilot model to be built from. This way there is uniformity across the board. If this is how it works currently then ED needs to make new pilot model because the current one is funky. I mean the Warthog stick is a correct size copy of the real one as represented in the A-10 right? Isn't that one of the features of the Warthog, it is the same model design and size as the real one? Or is this incorrect as well?

I have a BK2 and it works great. Also ordering up a Jetseat shortly as well because why not. I am betting your issue with the BK is it just is not hooked up correctly. And to really hook it up correctly you want to have a sound card just for it. Sound Blaster Audigy can be had for less than $30 on Amazon and it works with it. But most who have issues just do not have it config'd correctly. My pc has 2 sounds cards, onboard for sound and the add-on for the BK. Works wonderfully once all set up.
-
Hey thanks for that correction. I must have missed that key fact somehow. Thanks again man. (Rechecked post, now clearly see F-15E. Doh! Now wondering if I should recheck my actual work work..one of those days..lol)

Wishing you luck. I would love to fly with doors off.
