  1. you can see it in the helicopter tournaments. the infantry kill more mi-8 than they do huey.
  2. Quadg - UH-1
  3. when you press and hold the trimmer it turns off all autopilot input. so you have full control. why you experience extra twitchy :) if you fly without pressing the trimmer then the autopilots steals 30% of your stick authority. why its a lot less twitchy but seems to want to fly itself :) its using 30% stick to steer to the carrot. even if you are going the other way. tapping the trimmer resets the carrot to current heading. if you want to coordinate the turn, then hold the trimmer. the carrot resets when you release. or fight the AP, change heading and then reset it with a trimmer tap. mixing up trim and heading autopilot is just one of those odd design compromises.
  4. hah another chart to remember :) man i love helicopters :) fixed wing guys twiddling with their mfd's have it so easy.
  5. that one is also a fine example of the dead mans curve as well as VRS. if he had entered VRS outside the dead mans curve then he could have recovered. plus doing the quick stop within the curve made this outcome more likely.
  6. i just got into VRS at 2000 ft entered at about -1000 fpm increased collective to max egt and torque of about 46 and it increased to -3400fpm. i kept on the collective till ground effect. went straight through it and exploded. so it works on mine.
  7. given how lethal the infantry is when you fly straight at them, most pilots may choose to go with the door guns for infantry anyway. against the ka-50 i advocate just running.
  8. which causes more lag? huey firing for longer or rocket bursts? 2-3 huey all firing on infantry for ages did cause some lag. but it was pretty. (i flew in VR) yes try rocket pods as a test. not like the huey can carry many. and as they dont auto aim like the mini guns, they are not as much of an advantage as they seem. i am out of practise with rockets :)
  9. you are clicking on the windows start bar and switching focus. even with the mouse ticked to stay in game window it will leave slightly. drag your start bar to the side and have it vertical. then its to far away from the game window for the mouse to reach. or Alt-enter and go full screen. then the mouse cannot leave the edge. but if you record you cannot use full screen. so move the start bar. mine has been up the side for a while. (3 years)
  10. its actually more realistic now. the windows of the ka-50 are rated against 14.5 - 20mm fire. and the cockpit is an armoured tub. with engines further apart so one hit wont take them both out. its why the view is so restricted compared to the other helicopters. huey cutting them in half with ease was unrealistic. it is a flying tank. it is the only true combat helicopter in the game. so as a huey pilot i am not complaining about that. infantry needing 4 hits though does my head in...
  11. luckyfromarma was not being rude. he just used as little effort as possible to score a point. communication brevity.
  12. see there you go :) i love the way my dyslexia triggers grammer nazi. why i leave out capital letters on purpopse :) so they think they are scoring points.
  13. sa 342 cannot clear infantry from a landing zone like the ka-50.. it takes a s long as the huey. and the mi-8..
  14. study sim is part of the game :) correcting people is how you score points. dont feel bad, get even :) score some points of your own. and help others learn correctly.
  15. considering the name cockpit is a macabre joke comparing pilots to expendable chickens in a blood sport. i would save your anger and disgust for something else. macabre humour is in the very essence of the simulator.
  16. try the huey :) you dont trim it, you twitch in time to its gyrations. to fly it smooth and level.
  17. it does explain why mi-8 pilots may experience right roll :) they are not using enough pedal and stick. when they move to the ka-50
  18. that is quite a difference. i wonder if the ka-50 is trimmed for hover instead of cruise? to assist the 90's AI autopilot? edit: reading tippis post, it does not sound like it.
  19. someone take a snapshot of the mi-8 at 220kph level cruise. would be interesting to see if it needs more or less pedal.
  20. @Bourrinopathe in your video you can clearly see that the ball is demanding far more right pedal than you are using. not having the ball centred will cause roll in that direction. so to the right. but why a counter rotating helicopter is demanding so much power pedal like a helicopter with a tail rotor fighting torque. is the interesting question. if you actually put in the pedal that she demands she seems to point off unnaturally to the right. instead of rolling.
  21. im seeing this in the bubble. its demanding a lot of right pedal when it should be near neutral for the speed and being in a straight line. the weather vane effect of the tail should mean i need no pedal. why it is so big :) and its not cross wind. i end up flying with the nose pointing to the right to keep the bubble centred. you guys seem to be correcting for the same thing but with cyclic and role. im no KA-50 expert but i don't remember it being like this. but i could be wrong :) its almost like it has a tail rotor.. so maybe its not so different from a normal chopper after all..
  22. you guys are lucky. i had to wait 4 months for mine a few years ago :) and im next door in the UK.
  23. if i put three cookies on my desk, then the dog will steal them the second i put on my VR headset :) Labrador's....
  24. i think C was contested there at the end :) as i somehow made it through to land troops (thanks to camino for saving my ass, ) i didn't even load guns to get there in time before the end. i could just hear comie1 saying anyone with a load get to charlie :) anyway, great mission and well done red. ill be up for the next one.
  25. it has also stopped switching automatically to using the rift audio. even with the option ticked to auto switch in the VR tab. you need to close the game, switch to rift audio then restart to get it to work.
