  1. Hey, I thought trolling us with little details was HB's thing! :D
  2. You see the difference comes in the fact that one is waiting to be phased out and the other isn't. USA is already mass producing and operating 5th gen fighters in numbers, so to them the F/A-18C is something obsolete waiting to be phased out. No such thing can be said for the Grippen however, as it is very definitely not being phased out.
  3. The reason why USA is so open with their 4th gen aircraft is that they are already operating 5th gen ones in numbers. Why be secretive about something that you are already phasing out? However the story with Sweden is much different. And yes, an A/B model would be older than the current variants. But some classified systems still carry over to the never ones, and thus remain classified.
  4. Sadly we are just going to have to make due with what we have/are going to get. Just getting the right aircraft is an accomplishment enough for our suspension of disbelief. Things like specific variants are never going to be implemented, so we'll just have to make due with what we have. Of course I would like to have the exact variants of aircraft present in every major conflict, but sadly that's just not a realistic expectation considering the amount of work that goes into making a module. Now including a bunch of free variants in a module is not only going to slow down development/bug tracking, but will also most likely raise the price. So it's not really a realistic option for every module. So with the resources we have, restricting weapons and using custom paint schemes is just gonna have to make due.
  5. Yes, we would all want it. Yes, it would be awesome. But... But you can't just expect a country to fully declassify the most advanced fighter it has, just because someone asked for it.
  6. One encompassing multiple continents...
  7. Sorry, none for them. I meant the F-4 for the BLUE's.
  8. 1+! The Su-15 would indeed be an awesome bird to learn, and would also provide the perfect opponent for aircraft like the Viggen. Since it was an interceptor, it would create a fun asymmetric-play situation with the Viggen (and hopefully Tornado). The MiG-21 is more of a fighter anyway, since it never had MRM's. But in a dogfight it was a force to be reckoned with (the Bis, not so much). So the Su-15 would provide interesting gameplay for both it and the Viggen or hopefully the Tornado - trying to acquire and engage them with the older medium range weapon systems, while they try to mask and stay hidden, making their way closer to a tactical target. It would be an interesting situation for both. Now throw in a proper map, proper escorts (we are already getting those), and a RED side striker - say, Su-17/22. We would have a truly awesome package on our hands! Though that's all just wishful thinking and dreams. And as widely proven those don't lead anywhere.
  9. It did indeed fly a bit higher. Though it was pretty fast on the deck also, but had a tendency roll over and kill it's pilots when doing that... Later down the line that issue was fixed.
  10. Yes, indeed. Though there may still be some classified things about the IFF/comms system used for interception. I hope that the Swedish government would also be understanding on this issue too. Because as you said, the systems are really old. And of course, I would also love a JA-37 in DCS. Who wouldn't?
  11. Though the soviets did have things that went faster...:music_whistling:
  12. Will an i5 at 2.7Ghz be enough? I understand that it is under the system requirements, will I still be able to play? I understand that you cannot guarantee this, as it is under the minimum system specs. Oh well, guess I needed an excuse to upgrade anyway. ;)

    R-73 missile?

And then why not add R77s, A/G radar, glass pit, etc? All those things were available on the MiG-21. The problem comes with the fact that we have a MiG-21bis, and not a MiG-21-98. And IT didn't have any of these. If you don't count the ability to very roughly lock a ground object as A/G radar that is.
  14. Sadly you can't expect for a country to declassify the most advanced fighter they have. Sure it's 4th gen, and the Americans are fairly open about their 4th gens. But the difference comes in the fact that the USA already operates 5th gen aircraft in numbers, and is looking to phase out it's 4th gens. So for them, it's no big deal to be open. However, such a thing cannot be said about Sweden. Who, despite having plans to develop 5th gen aircraft, still have a 4th gen max fleet of aircraft.
  15. Sadly, you are indeed very correct. They even had some classification issues with the AJS-37 having some systems still in use in the JAS-39. But luckily for the simmer community, the Swedish government/Saab were understanding enough to declassify these 30 odd year-old systems. However it just comes to serve as a reminder of what a hurdle classification is for us flight simmers, and expecting them to fully declassify the most advanced front line fighter they have would just be ridiculous.
  16. Just got mine pre-ordered and can't wait for it to be released into early access! With my birthday in the end of January, I will be more than happy to get 2.5 as a birthday present. But getting the F/A-18C as well would just be mindbogglingly awesome! However it is the safest to expect an early access release in the end of spring this year. So that when they work harder than predicted and get the module in an early access ready state faster than expected, we will all have a pleasant surprise on our hands. In the end, the date doesn't really matter. The most important thing is the quality of the module we get. And relying on past experiences with the information we have gotten so far, it looks to be worth every penny that it costs. When put in context with other options, it even looks to be worth more than we payed for. So thank you ED/Bst, for your awesome work and generosity!
  17. Like you said, they were designed to compliment each-other. Doing that very well.
  18. Well... The Swedes did kinda prove that conscription for ground crew works, and fast. But I get your point, we also only conscript for our infantry and their direct support. The rest is professional.
  19. Well watcha gonna do? :\
  20. I am sorry, but can you (M3) please provide clarification on this. Is this an issue that you are looking into, do other things (frame drop when in close formation) have priority, or am I just completely wrong? Thanks in advance for the reply!
  21. This year really looks to be quite awesome, just with the list of things that are confirmed to be coming. The unrevealed projects also coming this year are of course a nice bonus as well, I myself hope that ED is finishing the MiG-23/27 that they promised to keep to themselves a little while back. :)
  22. On the brighter side, the last few months have been better. :)
  23. Yes, indeed. However that unification process hasn't happened yet, so currently there's a lot of reworking to be done.
  24. The difference is that when ED or a 3rd party develops a module, they always update the model (sometimes releasing the new model for AI before the release of the module). However, the new model always gets built up from scratch and up to a much higher standard - i.e. the Chromecat vs HB Tomcat situation. So there is indeed a difference, one in quality and date modeled.
