A recipe for guaranteed success: come in too high, "just go for it", slam nose down, and land with no damage at all. (some statements included in this post may not be containing 100% truth...)

You remember how salty people were when the Viggen got released on 1.5 Open Beta first? This, this would be a hole new milestone! :D

It's not a question of maybe, we would definitely benefit from having the MiG-23. Like the MiG-21, the MiG-23 was the No.1 fighter for the Eastern countries during a section of the Cold War. It would, like American designs, fit everywhere. It would also provide another aircraft to fight modern thingies in, the MiG-21bis is getting kinda old. ;) It has IRST+IR-MRM/SRM capability, somewhat decent radar and SAR-MRM's, and the controllable wing geometry makes dogfighting a lot more interesting. So in short, an upgrade from the MiG-21bis. Should be a lot more capable against modern things. It would provide the iconic opponent of the F-14, Bear aside. And it would fill an era gap, sounds perfect... I would like to speculate that it is in development, cued at least. Wags said a long time ago that RAZBAM making one would "interfere with already existing plans". If we don't count not making any 4th gen Russian jets, FC3 aside, as a plan... It would hint at it being developed, i can see no other significant reason that it would be denied (government pressure aside). But i would like to leave this speculation aside, it most likely holds very little truth. There is, most likely, a perfectly good reason other than the 2 I have spoken about. And i am just too dumb to figure that out. But as I said, let's not hope that any of these are going to get developed. Good surprises are more pleasant than unfulfilled dreams.

But the sales would not be based outside Russia. The core company is ED, the rest are partners, 3rd party devs, and contracts. Things get sold via the ED shop, with some exception for 3rd parties. And frankly if the Russian government wants something, it gets it. A much safer option would be a MiG-23 or Su-15, but there would be some possibility for a MiG-29/25. Just let's not expect any of those to ever happen. There are just frankly better options out there, no matter how much we want there to be a DCS: *insert any REDFOR 4th gen fighter here". Let's keep our expectations low. Who knows, we might even be pleasantly surprised.
-
Yes, but you can never be sure enough. ;)
-
Yes, but you are not going to find a way around the Russian legal system. I would love to see some 4th gen REDFOR fighters! But there is so much trouble in making one... You could get around some of the issues by making a module about the American Su-27 and MiG-29 fleet, I would imagine that they would be willing to share. But at the same time there is, sadly, still a possibility of legal action being taken by the Russian government. And you just can't get around that one. By the way Belsimtek is making an F-4!!! Go and check that out!!!

Party time!!! Now let's hope that we are not getting another "MiG-23"... So glad, thank you for posting!!! WOOOOO!!!! I am having problems containing my joy! ;)
-
Thank you so much! This is perfect! I can't handle the joy!!! Now it's just up to us to hope we are not getting another "DCS: MiG-23"... Because that broke my heart... But now, let's celebrate!!! :cheer3nc::beer::beer::cheer3nc:

Maybe a vanilla or export model MiG-29 could happen, but it would be much more realistic to expect a MiG-23. You never know if it has something in it that the authorities don't want you to know how to operate. And it originates from the SU, which adds some unnecessary difficulties. But really, there are much more attractive options out there. The same F-16 would be easier to get documentation on, have little to no chance of complicated legal action. And would sell tons more. Providing you stick with a reasonable block. There are no Eastern fighters above 3rd gen in DCS, and that's because ED got into legal trouble making one. I can't remember the exact model, but it was a full fidelity Su-27 that would rival the F-18C in DCS. Sadly we have no such thing, and you have the Russian government to blame for that. There still is hope for an early MiG-29 in DCS, but it's slim. It's good to keep your expectations conservative, a pleasant surprise is preferable to a disappointment.

Most aircraft that we have are either Western (mostly US) or Eastern (mostly Russian), these fit everywhere. These (to be honest only the US, with little exception for the Tornado, etc) are also the factions that most people want to see planes from, so a good match. Planes like the J-10, MiG-29, etc are, very likely, not going to be made. They just don't have the demand that a Tornado, F-16, F-15, F-18, Eurofighter, and so on, would have. Just the sad way how things are. Not to say that most people are opposed to them being made, they would just like to see other aircraft (mostly Western) being made first.

It must be at least complete enough to get early access in 2-1 months. The plan is to get early access out in Q3, IIRC of course.

Can't help it, that signature is so good! :D -
But Iran is pretty much on it (with Oman and the UAE) and they have MiG-29s in their arsenal. If we were looking for some opposition, that would fit almost anywhere. Though it is never going to be made, if so then with unimaginable luck. The Russian method of secrecy really hurts sims. And because ED are Russian, that means they are open to legal action from their government. And China/India aren't really enemies. If it were possible to get the documentation without getting executed for espionage, great! But "sadly" non of us want to die, at least I hope so.
-
That is some interesting and pleasant news! Not for any release dates of course. And talking about the AI, I don't think that it would be too difficult to implement. Maybe add some easy bind-able commands like "lock what's in bore-sight" or a row of configurations from the comms menu. As far as i know the pilot should also be able to operate the radar. So the aircraft would technically work with 1 crew member, but lose a lot of efficiency. Of course correct me if I'm wrong, I would like to get rid of my misconceptions as fast as possible.
-
And how exactly are you going to get the Chinese/Pakistanis or Indians to reveal in depth documentation on their fighters? An FC3 level bird, sure! But anything better than that is simply not possible. Lets make an F-22 and F-35 while we're at it, then we will make a PAK FA to go with those! I just don't see the logic. I would be super grateful if you would take one for the team and get yourself executed for espionage, otherwise there is no way known to man that our interests overrule the military's. I would also love to see these two awesome birds in DCS, but am not expecting anything that modern. Well, at least until about 30 years. Just the sad thing about how the establishment works.
-
And the A-A variants are like a MiG-31 that con't out-speed anything and has lesser range missiles, to keep with format you also have no BFM capabilities.
-
And how are you going to get documentation on those?
-
Yes, that is the only way of making any modern module that is not of a US bird. And 5th gen is impossible. So no military contract, no module. As long as the French air force is satisfied with it's current sims, no DCS: Rafale. End of story. Even if we were to get a module of let's say a Rafale, it would be far away from the real thing. National defense overrides our games.
-
You would indeed think so... I can't see ground radar code being an issue, the only ground radar it had was an ability to lock a bore-sighted radar beam and use it for A-G ranging. Same thing with multi-crew, it is already implemented in 3rd party and ED projects. So I don't see it being an issue. The thing to keep an eye on is what Leatherneck is "cooking", though that will most likely not be the F-4.
-
Take a look in the wishlist threads, it's rarely mentioned. There is simply a lack of demand compared to, let's say, a Panavia Tornado, F-16, F-15, or even Western trainers. I too would like to see it, but the sad truth is that we are in a minority. Not to say that people don't want it, they just want Western aircraft a lot more.
-
All we know is that they are developing a module and releasing it in late 2017 or early 2018. Then a second (hopefully in late 2018, we'll see) will follow. Both identities are not known.

I know I'm playing on words, but I am quite sure that all sims are not a game. ;) -
Yup, that makes the ultimate difference.
-
Well, the reason that the F-16 is not yet claimed by 3rd party's is that ED had a plan of making one. This was discontinued, but that's just my speculation. For the MiG-29, there isn't much demand. And the fact that it's Russian doesn't help, even if it's old. The best hope we have is for an export variant, this way they wouldn't have to deal with the Russians. A country like Poland would be much more open to talk, it plans to get rid of it's Russian fleet in favor of superior Western designs. Still, not enough demand. So let's not lose all hope, but at the same time, let's not expect this or anything similar to be made.
-
It really is a surprise that it is not already in the game. I can understand the lack of full fidelity Russian 4th gen fighters, there is simply not enough demand. Combine this with the problems with legally researching them and you have a recipe for disaster. Neither of these issues affect the F-4... It honestly, from the outside, seems like there is a conspiracy against it. There just appears to be no reason why someone wouldn't have already picked it up. It just seems like the perfect module, that we don't have... For now, let's be happy with what we have.
