  1. Another thing I forgot to mention, the lack of a radar display in the cockpit makes you also not know which direction enemies are facing, even if you use TWS and TWS2. You have to hard lock each enemy to see which direction he's heading. So, needless to say that track while scan in the MiG-29 is almost 100% useless. Can you see in the MiG-29 which waypoint you have selected?
  2. Exactly. I have trees always set to 100%. My only observation is that, even so, trees pop in and out, specially when you use zoom.
  3. I wish for anything that would increase the number of DCS servers or/and increase their performance.

I used to wish for that too, but lately I've been thinking it's not fair that FC3 players can generate their waypoints instantly by simply pointing clicking on the F10 map, while playing against players in full fidelity modules that have to spend much more time and effort on their aircraft systems to generate their waypoints. IMO, it's already unfair that the FC3 aircraft are the most powerful air superiority modules in multiplayer. I guess the simplicity must come with a price to pay... in multiplayer at least... And I'm a FC3 player. Sometimes I feel so bad fighting Mirages and A-10C pilots, who put a lot of effort in flying their complex high fidelity modules, that I switch to my helicopters (the only high fidelity modules I currently know how to fly) and do CAS or transport roles on multiplayer. Been thinking of acquiring the Mirage, but I'm waiting for the DCS 2.5 fixes and optimisations that should come for the release version. Currently with my PC specs, buying any new module wouldn't pay off.
  5. I would prefer if this processing power was used instead to increase object density on the terrain in order to make Combined Arms or even a First Person Shooter experience more viable. I mean cover/obstacles like rocks, bushes, buildings, trees, etc., and not waterfalls, skier lift, etc.
  6. One important thing is it's weaker radar and missing electronics. It can't detect enemies at the same range as Su-27 or F-15 and can't burn through enemy jamming like Su-27 or F-15 can. It doesn't have a display in the cockpit to show the radar picture, like Su-27 or F-15 has, contacts are only shown on the HUD and sometimes you miss them because they are obstructed by other HUD symbols, even though the radar has detected them. Also, navigation/waypoint system is unfinished and next to useless. IMO, all the FC3 aircraft are worth and VERY fun to fly, except for the MiG-29 and the A-10A. If you're thinking of buying FC3 just because of these two, then don't. It's the best advice I can give you...
  7. I'm not a great fan of making vehicles transparent... It would make you be sure there isn't a defense vehicle there, when there is. The whole chopper/plane/CAS thing revolves about knowing where there is enemy, where there isn't, and where there MIGHT be.
  8. A slider to reduce no. of trees per sq. mile would unfortunately give problems in multiplayer and even in singleplayer missions, where some players would have trees in places that other players don't.
  9. The effect of the reflection looks cool, but it's too obstructive. Should probably be way more transparent...
  10. I have a system similar to yours, but a bit inferior (see my signature), and I have an HD drive (argh!!) instead of an SSD, and I have Win10 instead of Win7. My DCS never conects to servers like Blue Flag or 104th Phoenix on 1st attempt. First attempt is always a crash or a return to DCS initial screen. Then on second attempt it usually connects, but not always.
  11. A minor suggestion: maybe move the "Radio Reset Overlay" button to the same page and near the "toggle radio overlay" and "toggle awacs overlay" buttons? I say that because the other day my radio overlay disappeared after I hit Alt+Enter and nothing would make it come back. I only discovered there was reset button after I searched the forums... Yes, I may be dumb, but I think the program would be more dumb-proof this way!
  12. Lol, I thought you meant we wouldn't know what spot on the airfield we would spawn, only now I realized we wouldn't know which airfield/FARP we would spawn at all!
  13. My point was that you have trees pop in even on max settings. It's not a matter of high- versus low- end pc. My suggestion doesn't have to do with performance at all, I just suggested a trade between total amount of trees in the map and total tree visibility range, keeping the same performance. IMO it would be beneficial from all aspects, realism, eye candy, etc.

  15. Caucasus right now has A LOT of trees. If it was up to me, I would reduce somewhat this amount and increase their overall view range. Why? Because this is a matter of realism, tactics AND eye candy. Currently, even with 100% trees visibility, you can see far away ground enemies that should be hidden by trees, giving you unfair advantage. Only when you get closer that the trees appear and cover them. From the graphical point of view, having lots of trees around you look good, but, on the other hand, seeing them pop in and out of existence in front of you look real bad, and one thing compensates the other in the end. And you do see them poping in and out even at 100% trees visibility. All I'm trying to say is that we have more trees than we need right now. It would still look awesome with a few less tress but improved view range, as a matter of fact it would look even better! Plus the added view range would really improve realism and tactics...
  16. You are 100% wrong again. At this point I've explained twice why, and you refuse to understand, so I don't see the point of explaining again. That has nothing to do with being free or not, you sould always read the requirements before purchasing. The DCS modules state, in the purchase page, that you need to download one of the versions of DCS, and that proves my whole point. DCS and the Caucasus map can only be thought as a free product if you're playing the free modules. This is cool and I really love that (as well as flying my Su-25T), but if you bought any paid module, you can't have DCS or the Caucasus map treated as free software. I don't think I can make this any clearer at this point...

  18. It doesn't matter what they downloaded first, the map or the module. The moment they buy a module that requires the map to run, that map isn't simply a free product anymore, it's a part of a paid product. BTW, people's system are not below specifications. People having better specs than the official minimum are having these problems.
  19. Many people have bought only the A10C or other high fidelity modules and need the map to play them. The paid modules are not accessories to the Caucasus map or the free aircraft, as a matter of fact many people don't even care about these free aircraft. I have to say you are looking at it in a completely inverted way.

I have a question that has nothing to do with the new mission mechanics (honestly not in a position to give proper feedback on that, as I'm kind of a a noob and also haven't played transport roles). I've now learned that you can have a pretty good idea of what every player is doing, including enemies, just by looking at the "Choose Role" screen. This happens for all servers I've played so far and might be not possible to change, due to DCS's limitation. But I was wondering... Would it be possible to not show what airbase and aircraft each enemy player is using?
  21. That's not exactly true. If you buy a module, you can't use it without a map.

  23. After the Beta Update 4 (2018-03-14) I connected to server (Blue Flag) without problems for the first time (I only had one chance to play this version, though). Then after the Hotfix (2018-03-15), DCS is back to crashing or being sent to the start screen when attempting multiplayer (same server), requiring several tries to connect, when it conects at all. But the changelog says the Hotfix is only about "SF copy-protection issue", so I'm not sure about what happened.
