Introducing the VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle
Barefoot Bandit replied to Cyph3r's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I doubt it, site says "aircraft grade aluminium construction". The grips, and some buttons/hats will certainly be plastic, but that should hardly be any sort of surprise to anyone. Even real aircraft use plastics... Z... -
I suspect you'll find that this was designed specifically with "desktop mount" or "side mount" in mind. Not that it's a bad thing, I know I appreciated that, as one of my set ups demands a stick with no extension. Z...

Introducing the VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle
Barefoot Bandit replied to Cyph3r's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I’ll be interested to see what the end result is, as I’ll simply buy the one that works best for my purposes (VKB or Virpil). Anyway, I’ve waited htis long, a few more months isn’t going to kill me. I can live with what I currently have untilt hen, regardless. Z... -
If the Virpil stick had a 4 way + hat at the thumb, I think I’d be keeping it on my T-50 base all the time, but I just like the hat at the thumb position too much, and will end up just ordering a Warthog grip as a spare part when I order a second base. The base is *very* nice. I currently fly on two systems, one uses my Warthog,t he other the Virpil, and the Warthog feels very sticky and not smooth in comparison. I’ll probably do the lube thing with it eventually, but I suspect it will become a back up base once the WarBRD is released. Z...

Introducing the VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle
Barefoot Bandit replied to Cyph3r's topic in VIRPIL Controls
Thanks, I don't normally look at Reddit - it's just too much of a formatting mess. And having read all that, I'm still none the wiser. I'll just wait until they release a diagram that clearly points to each button, and what it does. Z... -
Introducing the VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle
Barefoot Bandit replied to Cyph3r's topic in VIRPIL Controls
I'll believe that when they confirm it themselves, I've not seen anything official make a note of that. I did note the textures on the hats, yes, but until official confirmation... Anyways, I live in hope... Z... -

The Ultimate VR Gaming Experience
Barefoot Bandit replied to ZQuickSilverZ's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Well, it appears my next hardware purchase is clear. Z... -
Interesting, I'm sure some would be curious about the connection method. On a side note, for the software, I think it needs a little more de-bugging, when I tried ot upfdate the firmware (following the outlined procedure on the VPC page), the Mongoos profile (the only one you can select) pretty much kills the stick. It doesn't respond to calibration, and all the buttons appear to be "always on". After trying a few times, I started looking at the folder and realised there were 2 other files I was not seeing when in the software. After typing "*.*" (ah, the good old days of DOS...), the other two profiles came up. Once I selected it and loaded it to the joystick - all was perfect. Not sure if this has affected anyone else, but it had me scratching my head for a good hour or so, especially as I had just done a cam swap, and was worried I had screwed up a pin or cable or something. honest opinions - big screen gaming: 1080 vs 4K
Barefoot Bandit replied to dooom's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hold on there.... Be very careful, there is frame rate, and refresh rate. Jus because a screen refreshes pixels at 120Hz, does not mean it can display120FPS. There is no 120 FPS content for TV's - period, and thus, I doubt you'll find a TV capable of 120FPS. 60 FPS, yes. Make sure the refresh rate of the TV (in Hz) is divisible by the frame rate you plan to use. ie - for 60FPS, you'll want a 120Hz screen. Z... -
DCS at 1080p on 4k TV anyone?
Barefoot Bandit replied to wilbur81's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
1080P divides perfectly into 4k - there is pretty much no scaling needed.. There is no problem - as mentioned, just set Windows to 1080P too, or there will likely be UI issues. Remember this the next time someone goes on about how 1080P content looks great with the scaling to 4k - it's because 1080P divides into 4K perfectly. Tell me how it goes with 720P, or some other resolution that doesn't divide nicely into 4k. Z... -
Been using my F3's, and, have kind of decided I'd like to have a damper to deal with the "springy" feel near the center. Not an issue in game, just a "feel" thing. I noticed dampers (and mounts) for the F2, but not the F3. I was working on my bike and the Ohlins damper was staring me in the face, and I realised I could *probably* mount a damper in a similar way on the F3 pedals as to how it is mounted to my bike. (though reversed, to clear the spring and cams). Now, Ohlins are kinda pricey, but the appeal of an adjustable damper was there... After noticing that most kickstarters are just rebadged stuff that has existed on ALibaba.com for a decade, I had a look on Aliexpress, and sure enough, adjustable motorcycle dampers, in a choice of colours, are right there, for $30 (as apposed to $300 or so for the one on my Fireblade...). Bargain... So... Anyone mounted a damper to an F3? Or... Am I on my own and messing with a design that shouldn't be messed with? Z...

BRD pedals - a few doubts
Barefoot Bandit replied to escaner's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
The instructions in Russian on the website are easy enough to understand with Google Translate when using Chrome, the photos are good, and the details are there. The translations can be rather amusing (especially when describing the amount of force needed), but it's all quite clear. My biggest issue was getting too excited and not keeping all the plastic bags tied together.. Erm.. together. The parts are all well packed, and attached to the right hardware for each stage. I think it took me about 3-4 hours all up, and it's actually quite fun. In fact, I'm considering taking mine apart again and getting certain parts powder coated in different colours (perhaps a vibrant blue or yellow for the pedals and one of two the the metal braces). It is the new year holiday period still, I wouldn't expect any serious info until end of month at best. Z...

BRD pedals - a few doubts
Barefoot Bandit replied to escaner's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Mine seems fine after nearly a year. Can always grab the tools and tighten it up if nee dby I suppose, though I think it’s a case of buying the right tool for the job. I chose the F3 because the design works best for the simpit I am building (the boomerang design results in a more compact build). If this is not a consideration for you... Z... -
