Ah, I forgot to add that we were all in VR. 3 Rifts and a Vive pro. As for how it was recorded, I don't know. I do know that it was before he realised you could make a movie from the tracks and change views! He was stuck in his own cockpit. The video, how did you do that? I copied the link pasted it in the forum, highlighted it and clicked on the Youtube button which added the bracketed stuff.

This is a video made in our very early days flying formation so go easy on the criticisms :smilewink: . Also it was an early attempt at movie making by our left wingman. Six never got a look in! :music_whistling:At no point did anyone complain about stuttering, juddering or FPS loss. As I've also mentioned earlier in this thread, I've been part of a six pack of Yaks with no complaints. Just sayin'. Sorry, couldn't make the imbedding video work.

Anyone would think it doesn't work. There may well be a few bits and pieces to sort out but nothing to prevent it being a bloody nice addition.

Life's short. Done!

I think I read somewhere and what I always do, is to have the throttle fully open. When it starts to fire, immediately bring the throttle back. Interesting response from OctopusG. Does ED have a telephone? Give 'em a ring TALK to someone! For the record I love this little beast. :)

Dedicated Servers - Quickstart

My head! My head!

It doesn't do 'subtle' does it? I had to dig out my old miner's steel toecap boots before it would see things my way. :-)

If I could only get it off the ground I'd be happy to land without gear! This is killing me more than a Spitfire ever did! :)

To hell with it! I bought it anyway. :D

Except at take off, trim is something I regularly forget to use and can spend a few hours flying with bags of nose down trim :music_whistling: so that doesn't pose a problem for me. Likewise bombs. I never use them. For me it's all about flying. Phil's video got me hooked, however, after reading a few posts by early adopters, I will hold off for a while and see if there is an update.

Right. I'm using a PC that is, by today's standard, pretty ordinary. 6700K @4.2, a GTX1070 Stryx GPU SSDs etc. so not up to your specs. I can and do fly online in VR with 4, 5 and on one occassion 6 Yaks in close formation. So I would say it's less about the Yak than something amiss with your settings in the game or with your PC. What is 'nolod model'?
-
You don't do humour do you? :) Is the sim smooth in the Yak? Can you take off and land nicely? Can you fly in a close formation? If you can answer Yes to all of those questions, why the hell are you staring at a frame counter? :music_whistling:

It's the TM rudder pedals that is causing the bottleneck. How many frames are you missing? How can you tell?

Unpurchased Maps for dedicated servers

I have DCS on a separate machine that is used purely for server duties. I did download the map using the aforementioned CMD prompt. -
Unpurchased Maps for dedicated servers
Ron Attwood replied to KeyserSozeKillz's topic in Multiplayer Server Administration
That's more like it. :) I do understand what a dedicated server is, I've run enough of them in my time. All I was questioning was the inability to use the terrains within the dedicated server, when it clearly states you can download the maps for use on a dedicated server. I naively expected a barebones terrain, i.e. one with the information but none of the textures. But enough already. :smilewink: -

That's very helpful. Thanks -
Unpurchased Maps for dedicated servers

I may have missed something here. Downloaded the 'free' Persian Gulf terrain for use on my dedicated server. All well and good, thank you ED. How do I now go about making missions with said map? I can't see how it's done with the dedicated server part and when I start up the 'Ordinary' DCS in order to access the Mission Editor I get a message saying the map isn't authorised, provide a serial number. So I skip that bit and then get 'Persian Gulf will be disabled. What did I do wrong? -
Assuming you mean 'airplanes in the sky, don't get too excited, he said 'terrain engine'. :music_whistling:

Reading through this thread led me to question the 'curves' thing. Q1: Are the default settings for all DCS aircraft reflecting the real world flight dynamics? Q2: If they are, are the 'curves' there to make things easier for people? I've always felt that all aircraft are different and to fiddle about getting them to fly the way you want them to, rather than learn to fly them as they are, defeats the object of 'Simulation'.

I'll drink to that! I've just spent an age trying to get my money's worth out of the Bf109. Taking off was easy, (I can handle the Spitfire, so anything is a doddle after that) but I kept wrecking the engine/props 30 seconds after take off OR if I didn't do that I suffered engine cut-outs after a half a circuit! But I hung in there, RTFM, watched videos and read forums and I came out the other side. It's a cracking aeroplane. DON'T GIVE UP on it.

That sounds suspiciously like 'Learn to fly the bloody thing!' :joystick:
