  1. Fair enough. I shall ask for the grace to accept that which I cannot change In the meantime, I do feel that bugs capable of inducing genuine nausea should get some priority. Maybe I'm a dreamer!
  2. That's a lot of copium to minimise a game destroying bug. This needs to be fixed or ED will lose players. I know they don't actually care about that financially since this is a vanity project but if they want it to be credible they need to fix stuff.
  3. This is back, please fix it or I'll have to send dry cleaning bills. F10 is a lottery, the first few times you dare to you use it you'll probably be OK. The first time you use it and get the FPS drop (from rock steady 60FPS to 17FPS in my case) it will often clear up after a few seconds. If you dare use F10 any more, you risk being stuck in 17FPS for the rest of your session which really sucks if you're in an MP mission.
  4. and same here. I'm using a 4080 and 13700k. I'm surprised to be CPU bound so much of the time especially as the 4080 is proportionately a lot weaker against the 4090 than the 13700K is vs a 14700k. AFAIK extra threads won't help much if one of the main threads is CPU bound.
  5. Bumping a very old thread but with the release of a new generation of FFB joysticks, I wonder if this idea could now have some legs?
  6. Well a few patches later and after messing around... I'm very pleased with the clarity now. I can run the F-14 at the default resolutions and the beaten up cockpit looks excellent. Everything is easily legible. I had some issues with aliasing. MSAA wasn't great. It worked fine in the G2 but with the PSVR2 it still struggled with fences and hangars when on the ground. In the end I went with DLSS which, to my surprise, works quite well. As for performance, I get 60FPS everywhere even on the supercarrier flight deck. This is a bit annoying as the FPS setting in steam is 120FPS and it means that reprojection must be enabled somewhere even though I've switched it off wherever I can find it. If I switch to 90 FPS I get 45 FPS on the deck so... I guess I can't quite push 90 FPS at my settings. I'd really like to get rid of motion reprojection as I can see the very slight ghosting as I turn my head. I can live with variable FPS if 60 is the floor value and I'd like to see if the micro blurring goes away without it.
  7. Discord. Ingame VOIP should be a one button set up but it isn't. Plus, it's currently bugged.
  8. I own both, but the F18 is ugly so it stays in the back of hangar, crying.
  9. I run PSVR2 and standalone DCS via the SteamVR -> desktop method described by Correca above. I didn't have to rebind anything, I'm just running DCS as normal except the output goes to SteamVR. I also have a TM Warthog and it works fine (although I don't use any scripts).
  10. I like it! Comparing to the Reverb G2. Much better FoV, and much better edge to edge clarity. The image is a little softer overall but I can read everything in the cockpit. Performance is excellent, very fluid and no issues once I adjusted supersampling down to just over native resolution. 120Hz is achievable but not on the super carrier deck. Overall the image is bright, colourful and life-like in a way that is hard to describe. There is SDE. More than the G2 but I can live with it. This is the only downside I have overall. It's not in your face but it's easier to see when than it was on the G2. Comfort is pretty good. The sweet spot is small, so adjustment is important. After a couple of days I bought the globular cluster headband and pads, well with it IME. Very comfortable, very well made. I also bought some clip on headphones, can't remember the name right now! Do I haven't tried the supplied in ear buds. Microphone works well, I'm told. I saw a tip to reduce it to 70-80% volume so I did that when playing around with discord. My friends say it is very good audio. Overall, the psvr2 feels like a full quality product from a proper manufacturer. No beta level, early access vibes at all. The only hiccup was pairing the controllers, I couldn't get them to both pair at once until I switched the on one at a time to pair, and it was faultless after that. I would recommend. I'm enjoying using steam vr instead of EMR as my VR home, too. Also, BeatSabre looks AMAZING with OLED Oh 4080/13700k/32Gb
  11. For anyone who googles... the issue was I had forgotten the relationship betwen Global resolution and Per-App resolution. A quick trip into FPSVR and it's super helpful "overall resolution" display meant I was able to get this down to a sensible value that my GPU could cope with. I'm now getting nice smooth gameplay and no spikes! The PS2VR gives a stunning view in VR!
  12. Loving my Spitfire stick, throttle and trim wheels. Suddenly the braking makes sense and the whole thing feels great!
  13. I've recently bought a PSVR2 to replace my G2 and I love it. However, in DCS I'm getting severe stutters - even to the point of a window popping up saying "Waiting for DCS". Clearly this isn't great. When I installed my PSVR2 I just unplugged the G2, installed Steam VR, installed the PSVR app from Steam and set SteamVR as the default for OpenXR. Overall I'm down about 50% FPS from the G2 to the PSVR which isn't what I was hoping for with the reduced resolution - but it's the stutters and timeouts that are killing it. Does anyone have advice on how to set this up please? System is a 4080/13700k/32Gb, I'd love to hear what performance people are getting from similar setups using SteamVR.
  14. Could you please tell me if you're stlll using SteamVR? I have just started using it again, coming back from OpenXR due to my headset - and I'm having terrible stutters of up to 3-5 seconds. Obviously, this is using the current version.
  15. Awesome, thank you! I don't have a PS-5 but I'll check out your advice.
  16. I have just flown DCS for the first time in PSVR2. I liked it! Yes, it's not quite as sharp as the G2, but it's perfectly good enough to read all the text and dials in the cockpits with ease. There is a noticeable SDE or Mura or whatever it is that makes the image look a bit grainy but it's not at all bad. The tracking is faultless, which couldn't be said of my G2 and I do love the natural colours. I did find it extremely bright so I turned it down to 80% brightness. I also like the comfort and the FoV is definitely better for me. As for the lenses, I prefer them as I was able to read more of the F14 cockpit without having to move my head as the sweetspot is larger. Is it the ultimate VR headset? No, but for what I paid it's a good step and I'm happy. The important settings for me were to switch off reprojection, which was awful and made everything look like jelly. The other was to adjust the play area so it didn't intrude in the cockpit. If there's a way to switch off the play area fence when playing seated games, let me know! The only thing I need to investigate right now is a weird FPS cap at 40 FPS. FPS for the headset is at 90, and I was able to reach that easily in the G2. Maybe this is a SteamVR -> OpenXR thing but I got 40 FPS everywhere in Caucasaus and 40 FPS nearly everywhere in the Marianas unless I was low and fast over the island when it dropped a bit to about 33 FPS min. With the G2 I got 90 FPS unless I was low over a town using the same ingame settings. (13700/4080). To the Googles!
  17. For the record I have a 13700k (regret!) and a 4080 running my G2. I'm CPU bound nearly all of the time, I used to be GPU bound until the patch that increased multithreading a few months back.
  18. Well exactly. Between that and some Amazon vouchers I had from work, I got a PSVR2 for £175 plus anothe 60 Euros for the adapter (inc delivery from amazon.de). So if it's as good as the G2 I'll be very happy. If it's significantly worse at least I'm not taking a punt on something high end that might be really uncomfortable or just not suit me. It's a gamble and I know it won't be as sharp as a G2 in the middle but if it's sharp enough and makes a pretty image while being OK on my head - good times.
  19. Well, I pulled the trigger on the basis of some positive reviews on the tube. The headset is here, adaptor due from amazon.de in a few days. Exciting times! I went for the PSVR2 for a couple of reasons. 1. Price - helped by the fact I had a 260 quid in Amazon vouchers 2. Size - I like to play for several hours and the PSVR2 is reported to be lighter and relatively comfortable. I realise this is a gamble. 3. OLED - I am an OLED junkie. I've used OLED in VR before and found it to be far superior for games with lots of amtospheric shadows. The G2 did fine in DCS but it wasn't great in Elite Dangerous. So, I'm not saying this is the _best_ or Pimax/Q3/Pico4 are bad choices. I'm just trying to upgrade from my G2 wihout going over £500
  20. Thank you Phantom, that's great info.
  21. Ordered! I'll be going from Reverb G2 (pre-order) to PSVR2 which arrives on Saturday. I had a panic because the adapter sold out in about an hour, but it was still available on Amazon.de just now so I've ordered there for an extra EU6 shipping. @RealDCSpilot Would you be able to post details of your DCS MT Shortcut please? I've got mine set to force openXR right now. Does that need to change? I'll show you mine first Location: "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\bin-mt\DCS.exe" --force_enable_VR --force_OpenXR Start in: "D:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World 2 OpenAlpha\bin-mt" No, it hasn't changed since MT was released....
  22. yeah but you bought it for your son, right?
  23. On my G2 at least it seems to have gone from BLOB -> nothing -> 3D model to dot -> 3D model Which seems logical but it's hard to spot anything now. I probably need to practice scanning for tiny pixels.
  24. OLED is the key differentiator here, also it will have full display port bandwidth so no compression. Whether that's enough to pull back the slight resolution disadvantage to the Q3 remains to be seen. Finally PSVR2 is cheaper at £350, plus £50 for the adaptor - so there's that. As for the missing features, Haptic Feedbac is unlikely seeing as SteamVR doesn't support it. Eye tracking - there are theories out there that this could be make possible later, or by third parties. But ofc, that's just speculation right now. HDR - difficult as PCVR doesn't support it. So, it would be a bit crippled but comfortable, cheap and OLED is just lovely. Not an upgrade over a Pico4 but maybe a valid path from the G2?
  25. I had some double bound axes on the F16 and VR is tricky because you have to hold your head(set) completely still while selecting a role/hitting fly on an MP server or the screen blacks out until it can redraw which is about 5-10s. But otherwise I love this update so far. VR when actually flying seems smoother and I am hitting 90 FPS (my limit) most of the time unless I'm down very low. One thing I find interesting is that I'm now showing as CPU bound instead of GPU bound. I haven't changed any settings, although maybe the patch did? It seems that moving some AI to a separate thread has helped out. I might try overclocking! 13700k/32Gb/4080/Reverb G2.
