  1. I'm pretty sure this will need to be mounted on the floor with an extension. At least, that's how I see it working for me.
  2. We need MORE Gb!!! This map will probably be huge by the time it has been updated to all high detail. My Eagle Dynamics folder is now 664Gb, it won't be long before DCS will need an upgrade from a 1Tb NVME but that's good news in my book.
  3. Works fine for me. I have some Genesis Effect (tree pop up) but I always get that. I just ran my normal settings and was getting a steady 60 FPS pretty much everywhere, even down on the deck - with a slight drop over towns (50FPS). I was flying an F16. I'll have another go in the Tomcat for comparison. I would agree this this is similar to Syria, perhaps a touch better. I'm not a frame chaser though, so I don't have solid performance numbers. G2/4080/13700/32Gb @ 4800 I think it's worth every penny!
  4. There are MP servers up already with the Kola map and simple missions if you're worried about having nothing to do when you get Kola.
  5. First impressions are that this map is great. Thank you! It has really fun terrain and will be great for rotorheads and Hog drivers alike. There's a lot of cover to be used and I'm looking forward to some SAM stalking at low level. I haven't seen anything below 50 FPS yet (turning at low level over a town) and was pegged at 60FPS otherwise. That's actually better than I tend to see in Syria and equivalent to Caucasus. So.. I'm very happy! I'm looking forward to someone writing a big mission with a Carrier Group attacking from the sea - we'll have to wait for the missions guys to decide there's a big enough audience but if this map takes off it'll be HUGE. Is this map worth £45? yes, all day long.
  6. I've printed mine and assemble it - it's looks great and feels good for plastic. Sadly I hit some wiring snags and couldn't be bothered to take it apart yet. I will do though! It's sitting next to my desk shaming me but I've got the full Spitfire gear already which works fine so I'm just slumming it with a single set of engine controls for now.
  7. It might be worth the OP double checking his bindings by putting the controls on screen for his next takeoff. If they're fine - just show us the video of your next attempt and we can watch your inputs. I also crashed quite a few Mossies on takeoff but I've got a handle on it now. I'd say the Spit is harder.
  8. Yep, definitely not panic time - but if I need to save up £2k for something decent then I'd like to know early! Pico4 looks interesting, thank you. I wonder if they'll do a DP version one day....
  9. Ok, so I know we've got a few months until Windows moves up a version and WMR users become stuck on older windows versions but... If you are a Reverb owner, where will you go after WMR becomes legacy? I can't think of a headset with a compelling cost/performance that would tempt me from the Reverb G2 right now, which is a bit of a worry as I'd rather not spend money just to stand still! My personal feature list would include: At least 2160x2160 resolution per eye (can't see a good reason to go backwards from the G2) Integrated off-ear headphones (I love the immersion of off-ear audio) Wired/powered so that I don't need to charge it, or worry about WiFi setup/speeds/interference Inside out tracking (no base stations please) No light leakage 550g max weight And the wishlist: OLED panels Pancake lenses £800 max budget I don't care about: Hand Controllers AR Anything but DCS Is there anything out there that fits the bill? Or anything in the pipeline? I'm sure there are plenty of us G2/WMR users in the DCS space who are wondering about this.
  10. Is this the SA-2 Brochure? (just kidding!)
  11. To look at this another way, the inkblots hand an advantage to VR users in PvP servers.
  12. Whether it's a feature, WiP or the new normal - it looks like crap.
  13. I don't think the improved spotting works well in VR. I can now spot aircraft and boats from a huge distance and then when I get closer they disappear again until I'm much much closer. Firstly the huge spotting range seems unrealistic, secondly it's ugly - it looks like a flack burst or an inkspot. Finally the scaling seems to be off - assuming the intent is to give us a better chance to see a few more pixels at range and for that dot to grow into the 3D model as we approach. That isn't happening, there's a lull in the middle where the 3D model is really small and the target is basically invisible again. This is in a Reverb g2
  14. I'm having trouble trying the new Voice stuff. When I enable the menu (L-Ctrl, L-Shift, Tab) I can't get the "White Blob" cursor on the panel, only the "Green Cross" and I can't click using the mouse. G2/WMR if it matters?
  15. Will there be any default options for the most popular hardware? Unbinding multiple axes so you don't roll into the ground on takeoff is getting dull!
  16. I have to agree - they do seem very uniform in colour too. Real Trees vary in colour both within themselves and compared to others. The map currently shows all trees of the same species as uniformly of the exact same shade. There needs to be some randomisation/gradients. Otherwise, I'm blown away by this map!
  17. It's STUNNING, and the Mossie is the perfect sightseeing plane too
  18. Frustratingly, Douglas doesn't seem to say what carburettors were fitted to the Merlin 25. The anti-g carbs (not the pressurised Bendix carbs which came later) were able to cope with both the lean and rich cut conditions and were definitely fitted to G-ASK which was the FB mkVI discussed in the report I linked above. Of course, that could have been a WW2 refit or a post-war modification.
  19. It's stunning! Well done everyone, that was well worth 9 quid
  20. Well I just want to say that Normandy 2.0 looks absolutely fantastic. I just flew a Mosquito over London in VR and it was amazing! Well done Ugra and ED. 9 dollars? BARGAIN!!!
  21. This is grim reading overall - but the points made about the negative G behaviour of a Merlin being fixed by the Mark 25 are relevant to this discussion. https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/542301dce5274a1317000b69/dft_avsafety_pdf_501355.pdf
  22. Stop being wet, old chap. If you really don't like it you can take a Lee-Enfield from the armoury, put on your battle bowler and keep marching East until you find the Hun!
  23. I'm consistently CPU bound on a 9700K and plain 3080. Maybe I should turn the graphics up? tbh I'm already running VR Medium with terrain textures on high which gives me 50-55 FPS once airborne in MP.
  24. I'd buy a used 3090 myself. 40 series pricing is disgusting.
