  1. I am slightly in the same situation as you in that I have the Mirage, but have decided to wait for the "soonTM" F18 Hornet. It is a step beyond Harrier and Mirage in that it is capable in both air to air and air to ground. So if you can wait "A Few More WeeksTM" I suggest you do that. It has a range of weapons and capabilities not found in any other module.
  2. Any news on this ? Was hoping on you getting a prototype to play with to test frame rates and play around with software to get the best settings.
  3. Looks like I have to get me a SAAB after all... The online spawn camp will be epic. And remember "SAAB is the choice of dentists" ;)
  4. Stop being snarky.
  5. Yes, I know about the Russian problem. Also, Aviodev has ruled out Exocet for the F1. Ditto for the M2k. My hope is for the SU-24, there is nothing secret in the versions serving in the Middle East. Would be great to have a representative selection of the aircraft that has served there for Straits of Hormuz.
  6. Thinking of an aircraft that has been in use in the Middle East. Thought that was implied, something Russian or French.
  7. For the state of the game, we need something fast with weaponry to kill off the carriers that are about to multiply in the game. DCS needs a focus. We are getting the US fleets and their air wings, the Hormuz map. What we need are the type of assets that can challenge their superiority.

  9. What neither of these prototypes have is eye tracking. The potential performance of the headset is not the same as the actual, as many here have found out. I only stepped in when i knew this stretch goal was gtg. Alone this is a huge step forward to getting a steady 82-90 fps.
  10. Just had an evil taught. If Pimax succeed, Apple should buy them in a hurry. They are late to the VR party and have mountains of money.
  11. Regarding quality, My pimax 4k worked flawlessly out of the box. However, there is a small hair or fiber in the lower edge of the right lens. It is not noticeable unless you squint and look directly at it, so i am not that bothered. It suggests though, that the unit was assembled in a less than clean room, i expect the new one to be better in this area. I have also read that screens have gone black for some, due to the way cables are attached, so have been careful not to pull on them.
  12. It does add a certain "me being in the right" to the sentence. However, i really don`t see the point in adding a "smelly module" to the HMD. I will take mine without, thanks.
  13. As a gentleman, i naturally prefer napalm. But of course, this goes without saying.
  14. Little error on my part. The DP they used was 1.2.
  15. This is not VR. This is TOP GUN 2.0 !!! :megalol:
  16. Well, the Rift has head tracking that is much better. The color gamut on the Rift is also better. However, if you ask my advice, only the Pimax 8k is interesting among the new headsets. If you are prepared to take a risk, get in now. If you are the careful type, wait for reviews on the production model. If it lives up to expectations, it will blow everything out there out of the water.
  17. Yes, it worked for me straight out of the box. However, with the price drop on the Rift, i think it represents better value. As for the 75hz limit. The PC`s Pimax demonstrates on, only has DP 1.3, witch limits output to 75hz, so this is not related to the limit of the Pimax.
  18. Nope, you are dead on. And the need for foveated rendering only increases as the resolution increases.
  19. With eye tracking we are looking at steady 90 fps.
  20. Only $350k left, and we get free eye tracking. This may be a very sweet deal..
  21. It will support multicore, no ?
  22. Have the 4k. Don't have the fisheye thing, think it's eye distance dependent. Agree with you on color gamut tough. Mine has also worked fine.
  23. Well, i have pledged on the 8k on this news. I may be optimistic, but have great faith in results when enthusiasts with skills get down on something.
  24. I think you misunderstand Precog. He is saying the 8k is described as being substantially better than Rift/Vive from everyone that has tested it. The news we get here are all positive. A new headset is coming that will make huge strides in VR. Wags tells us that ED is in on the development and will integrate the tech in DCS World. I already have the Pimax 4k, i will be a return customer for the 8k and ED will sell me more modules for their effort. Everyone will benefit except the few that thinks current gen is as good as it needs to be Seriously ?
  25. The most interesting part is that the Microsoft platform has a lesser hardware requirement than Vive/Rift. Will hold off until we get feedback on the real world performance in DCS.
