But isn’t that what Jester and Iceman are for? You choose what seat you’re gonna use and the AI takes the other. I don’t think it’s designed for you to keep jumping from seat to seat, would as you state make things very complicated.

Wow I spend a few days away from the forum, and it’s gone into meltdown. Now people may call me a white Knight if you want, personally I couldn’t care less. However HB are damned if they do, damned if they don’t. I’m sure if they wanted to, they could have given us all access to the F14 a few months ago, when the YouTube streamers got it. HOWEVER it wouldn’t be complete, it would be missing some major features, like the Rio seat and I’m guessing would still have a number of bugs. IF they had done that, these very forums would have a meltdown, accuse them of not doing a good job and releasing too early, taking their money for false promises etc etc. The 2nd option which is the one the6 have gone for, is to wait and make sure the aircraft is as compete as they can make it, get all of the major features implemented and working and the majority of the bugs fixed. Granted I know there will still be some bugs and missing features, but I doubt any will be major, and yet here we are, the forums are having a meltdown, accusing them of not doing a good job, and taking their money for false promises etc etc. It’s no wonder we see developers stopping development for this platform time and again. HB has been open from the start, they give frequent updates and are very active interacting with us on the forums. What else do you all want from these guys. EVERYTHING they have shown, or the you tubers with access has shown has been amazing, and it’s looking like the F14 isn’t going to just be yet another module, but a ground breaking module that will significantly increase the standard in DCS By which modules are judged. Yes from time to time there has been concerns about features, I myself posted a concern only last week after reading a article about the F14 and the state of the Rio seat. Cobra took the time himself out of his busy period to address that concern, and stated that the article itself was incorrect and we shouldn’t worry. Hell we then had footage of said seat only 48 houtprs later showing it working. Now that’s service. My personal opinion is HB should take the time to do this correctly, if they miss the 20th so be it, these things happen. I’m after a Experiencing a new ground breaking direction with this module, mainly a fully working Multicrew experience of a complex aircraft. That has NEVER been done before. Hell hopefully if they pull it off and I’m sure they will, we might finally get the promised Multicrew feature for the Huey and MI8.

Just wondering, if there will be an option to turn OFF the switch highlighting once you’ve learnt the cockpit. I appreciate this is an assistance startup, but wouldn’t the crew talk and use checklists normally during different phases of the flight anyway. By having an option to turn off the highlighter, it would be so so much more immersive and make you feel more like a double crew. Also can you talk to Jester like this in other phases of flight and run checklists. After takeoff, fence in, and landing checklists for example?

:O Just like that sales of Voice Attack goes through the roof. I have been resisting purchasing it for months as never really saw a need for the program. Darn thing is now downloading and installing. ;) Thankyou HB, you truly are developing a groundbreaking module here, that has to be one of the if not the best video for DCS I’ve ever seen. Will the Voice attack profile you guys have used be included with the module, or if not any chance you could make it avalible on the forums? There is however one problem with this video. Up until 30 mins ago, I was 110% dedicated to being a full time RIO, HOWEVER this system is screaming at me now to jump into the front seat just to interact with Jester via voice.

I’m gonna guess mid to late March still. ED tends to take a while doing the final approval as I guess they test pretty much everything which takes time. Might be lucky and get a date by end of this week, but I do think we still have a few weeks to go yet. Anything earlier is a bonus.

Wow, the main man himself has answered. Thankyou Cobra I knew you wouldn’t let us down. It was just a shock to read it in the article that’s all. Got this future Rio all in a panic. Says it would be full Multicrew for the final release, but certainly makes it sound like it wasn’t anywhere near ready for day 1. Thankyou very very much for clarifying. If any Mods are reading this, you might as well lock this thread down as it now has no purpose being here. -
Hi guys, so yesterday, my latest issue of PC Pilot turned up in the post. https://pcpilot.keypublishing.com/the-magazine/online-content/?ID=7970 While generally it’s a great article and states what we already know, that she’s highly detailed and has a stunning flight model, one comment has got me slightly concerned. They state the RIO position still has a lot of work to do, and suggests that the Multicrew functionality WONT be avalible when the aircraft is initially released. Now I don’t know how true this is, or if it’s just a case that their review copy was rather outdated, and it certainly goes against the updates and the statements from Heatblur that the RIO Multicrew has been working for a while. Although we do know they are still working on the RIO position. I know certainly from my point of view, the aircraft NOT being released with a working and functional Multicrew element would be a massive disappointment, especially as the RIO position is the one I’m most looking forward to. I’m sure others here from our community will also get PC Pilot, so have a read and let me know if I’m reading too much into it. Oh and if HB themselves read this thread, Please Please Please put my mind at rest.

Well after a real rubbish start of the week for me yesterday, I must say today is looking a hell of a lot better. Appreciate Ed approval can take a while, and there might be an issue similar to the Mig19 delay. However whatever happens we now know she’s on final and about to call the ball. If I’m a betting man, I would say she’s landing mid March, but hopefully HB will let us know by end of week. One very very happy simmer here.

This is fantastic, thankyou

Maybe. :music_whistling::music_whistling:

Holy smeg, NOW that’s what I call an update. Front seat stuff who cares, Now THIS is a simmers wet dream seat. I honestly cannot wait to start learning this. I’m in complete Awe at those guys who actually worked and operated this in real life and the heat of battle. Truly mind blowing.

Anyone know of any training tools for the AWG9 radar system?

:megalol::megalol::megalol: Now that sir is a fantastic idea, she would love it. -
Hi guys, I’m currently reading a book Before Topgun Days, which is about RIO training on the F14. It’s a spectacular read, although I can’t help but think, how on Earth are WE sim Rios going to learn the AWG9 correctly. It sounds such a complex piece of kit that requires a lot of knowledge and Mathematical ability to use correctly, that I can’t help but feel that many of us may be out of our depth trying to learn it, not to mention learning all the standard startup checks and routine flight systems that we will need to memorise. Does anyone know of any training materials avalible that might help us learn these systems. I’ve already downloaded the Natops and pocket checklist for the F14, so I’m reading those and taking notes, which will assist in memorising the checklists but I think learning the AWG9 is gonna be in another league. Obviously time spent on the sim itself will help, but sadly I’m rather restricted in the time I can actually fly, so I’m looking for a way to do it on a tablet while I have a free moment at work or when I’m looking after my daughter downstairs. If Heatblur are watching, a IPad AWG9 Training app would work well guys, hint hint. ;) Am I the only one concerned about how I’m gonna learn this new radar so I can be a effective Rio?

Mudspike Preview (contains lots of screens and a few videos)
Cowboy10uk replied to Strikeeagle345's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Well you may be right, BUT with the amount of items that can go wrong with this aircraft modelled. That approach may come back and bite you. I wouldnt be surprised if HeatBlur has thought of this and put in things to catch the unwary. -
What do you do first when the tomcat is available?
Cowboy10uk replied to Mking's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Easy, pull up the manual on my iPad, load up DCS and get head down in the Rios seat learning that darn impressive radar system. Hell I’ve been flying different aircraft for over a decade on DCS, I’m really looking forward to learning a new aviation role despite knowing it’s gonna take a long time to become proficient at it. -
Yes I do. Thanks will give that a try.

Sadly repair didn’t work. HUD and the centre map mfd is fine, but the left and right one. Forget it. I’ve tried adjusting the FD init.lua file to adjust line size but still not good.

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else is having issues reading the MFDs while in VR. The entire aircraft cockpit is fairly crisp and readable apart from when i turn the MFDs on. All the text shows as just green boxes, almost like im wearing NFGs at night and the brightness is much too high. Ive looked around and cant see anyone else who seems to be having the same issue. Can anyone hwlp, i would love to use the F18 in VR but i cant due to not having operational mfds. Graphical wise, i have everything on max. and the Vr level set at 1.7

Cowboy10uk replied to Loukuins's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yep, downloaded and installed now. -
Hi guys, I’m just wondering how everyone gets weather patterns into their sims, and MP missions. When I look at mission page, I see we have a lot of choices when it’s comes to weather, but to be perfectly honest the fact their are so many choices confuses the hell out of me. So I tend to just leave that section alone, which obviously means I very rarely get to experience weather in the sim. So I was thinking how are you guys using it? Is there a way to input real world weather into the sim, similar to P3D and Xplane which would be amazing if there is, or a simple way to get realistic looking weather into our missions, without adjusting multiple layers, directions, speeds etc all over the map.

Can confirm I had the issue today while flying multiplayer using the Mav Fs on the outboard pilons. As stated, weapons fired off and recognised as used on stores page, but visual model still showing on the pilons. The Mav Es on the Inbound worked as normal.

Hi guys, just a quick one. In the A10c my FOV is completly shot, everything is very narrow and the cockpit is only in centre of the screen with a huge amounts of the side view showing on screen. All other aircraft display perfectly fine, it’s just the A10C that has this issue. Has anyone got any ideas on how I can reset the A10c view and get it back to normal please. I enclose some photos below to show the issue.
